Thank you so much, Talia, for agreeing to do this interview.

If you haven't read her book [Defective] please go check it out. I absolutely love it and I think you will too. So let's get on with it...

What inspired you to write Defective?

I just loved the films so much and I hadn't read the books yet at that point. But just thinking about twilight made me imagine my own character and the abilities she could have and how she would fit into all the events that happened in the book and in my head she would always end up with Jacob... I think that was just because of Taylor at first and my slight crush on him.

Did you have any writers' block along the way?

Definitely! I started the book in 2015 and I literally only finished it this September. When I got about halfway through, I think, I gave up because I didn't think it was going anywhere but I ended up watching all the films again and they just got me back into it. I redesigned the plot, read all the books to help me, and edited all the chapters from the beginning and that's how I got to the finish.

Do you see yourself in any characters and why?

Definitely Aria, I created her from scratch and put so much detail into her and took the most time thinking about her personality and how she'd react with people. The way she acts in situations I've tried to base off of myself and what I've dealt with in real life

If you were Aria, would you forgive Jacob?

To be honest, probably, yes. I was in a situation myself where a guy couldn't choose between me or another girl and he messed me around a bit but I forgave him and he's now been my boyfriend for two years. But, in the twilight world, Aria is an imprint and that bond is so overpoweringly strong I think the only thing I would be able to do would forgive him because you can't live without your imprint.

How old are you?

I am 20, I don't know if that's too old to be writing fanfic lol.

How old were you when you started writing?

I was 15, maybe 16. It was so long ago lol (and I hate I can't send emojis on here)

How did you feel when you wrote Defective?

I felt excited. You know when you read a book and you just can't put it down because you want to know how it ends? It felt like that. But when you finish it you feel kind of sad, that's how I felt when I finished writing. That's why I'm writing a sequel, to get that excited feeling back.

How long did it take to write Defective?

4 years lol but I think it would've been quicker if I didn't have breaks and gets writers' block

What was your outside life like when you wrote Defective?

Well for the first two years of writing I was at college, I live in England so I was in college until I was 18. Then I went straight into work and that's how I got distracted, and then I got a boyfriend and just kind of lost focus on writing. But in January last year, my parents split so I spent a lot of time just wanting to be alone and that's how I got back into writing. It was my escape.

Me: I'm sorry about your parents. I know how hard it can be

Talia: Thank you, it's all calmed down now, my dads remarried and my mum has a boyfriend so they're happy

Me: I'm glad

Where do you get your ideas from?

The twilight saga itself and from characters and ideas I created inside my head. All these ideas and events I changed them slightly to fit into the saga.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Read, watch films or go out with my friends doing whatever we can do. I work through the day so the evenings and weekends are when I get to do all the things I want to.

What does your family think about your writing?

They don't know that I write fanfics

What do you think makes a good story?

Interesting characters, an intriguing plotline with twists and turns, and also a little frustration towards the characters and what they are doing. I feel like when I read books I like it when I'm a little annoyed at characters and their choices, I keep reading to try and find out what happens because of their choices

And lastly, As a child what did you want to be?

Before I was ten it was most likely a singer, but once realising I wasn't quite good enough for that I had no clue... I just went through life unsure until I literally fell into what I do now lol

Again, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview.
