Georgia's POV

"Happy birthday to you... happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Georgia, happy birthday to you!!!"

Peeking my eyes open I try to clear my vision as the sun glares into my bedroom. I sit up and rub my eyes, then finally look over at my two amazing parents holding a birthday cake.

"Happy birthday honey!"

I smile and throw the covers off body then leap into my dads arms.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Wow honey you didn't even show her the present yet..."

I glance over at my gleaming mother and attack her with a bear hug.

"Alright who are you and what have you done with our daughter?"

"Oh whatever dad. I'm just so happy that you guys are my parents and that you guys love me as much as you do. You didn't have to make me this cake."

I watch as my mom sniffles a bit and my dad pulls her into a side hug then kisses her forehead.

I can't wait until I have that same love.

"Georgie honey we love you too. We have a surprise for you so after you wash up and get your clothes on for school, come to the kitchen."

I nod at my mom then hey over to my bathroom. I smile as I hear my mom giggle and run out my room as my dad chases her.

I had been blessed with two loving parents that cared so much and loved each other so much. Just seeming them happy had always brought me joy.

Snapping my head out of my thoughts, I realize that not only is it my 14th birthday but it was also my parents anniversary. Which meant big celebration breakfast, presents, and then movie night after school.

I hurry and brush my teeth then shower and change into a pair of skinny jeans and a black and white striped shirt with converse. Checking myself in the mirror I can't help but notice how much I look like my mother. Which didn't upset me at all. The woman was gorgeous, beautiful, a masterpiece. I received her curly wild brown mane, and light caramel complexion. Her eyes were a beautiful baby blue whereas mine were hazel and my fathers' brown.

"Georgie are you almost done?"

"Yeah give me a minute!"

Quickly, I reign in my hair and tie it into a high messy bun then make my way down the hallway. As I get closer and closer to the kitchen the smell of bacon fills the air. The aroma almost makes me drool in hunger... and greed.

Turning the corner, I walk into the kitchen and jump in surprise as my parents blow horns and shoot a confetti canon. I laugh as they dance around me in a circle then put a small birthday hat on my head. Yet again the birthday song is ruined by my dad's awful vocals but it's the thought that counts.

After we finally eat and talk about the movies we were planning to watch later tonight, I see my mom sneak away and come back carrying two wrapped boxes. She places them both in front of me on the table and then sits beside my dad with her hands under her chin smiling widely.

"Whenever you're ready." My dad nods towards the gifts holding his hands together on the table also smiling.

"Y'all are weird." I say with a grin as I tear open the first gift.

It was a rectangular shaped box and was very light. I open the box to see a thin silver necklace with a medium sized locket pendant. Popping open the locket I see a picture of me and my parents. My eyes water slightly as I think about how lucky I am to have parents like them. They were more than I could've ever asked for.

"This is amazing!! Thanks so much."

"Of course sweetheart! Now open the second one!!"

I nod at my excited mother then tear open the second gift, which was a large square shaped present. After revealing the second gift, my eyebrows furrow in confusion.

"A diary?"

My mom nods squealing. Dad has to almost hold her down to get her to stop jumping so much.

"Not just any diary, Georgie."

"Your mother and I have written some very important things in here for you Georgia. Some advice about life and some things we just wanted to leave for you in case we're not around to shed some light on something."

I raise an eyebrow still confused at what the heck they were talking about, "Why would you- but you guys are here? You mean when I go to college and move away?"

Dad grabs moms hand and squeezes it making me feel like something was wrong and we weren't on the same page.

"Something like that."

I look down at the older brown leather book that had a locked seal on it. Tapping the lock I glance up at my parents who just shrug and look away.

"You will get the key later tonight sweetheart. For now you need to go to school and I need to make me some tea."

My mouth drops in surprise as I watch my mom walk away.

My dad glances at me and chuckles, "Close your mouth before you get flies."

"Ha ha very funny dad. Why do I have to wait until tonight?"

"Because if we give you the key now, you will just lose it."

"I will not- yeah you're probably right."

"I know I'm right. I can't remember a time when I was ever wrong."

I cringe as he laughs loudly. Suddenly his laugh is caught in his throat as we hear a glass shatter. We both look over to see my mother standing by the stove with her hands over her mouth. The last thing I remember was seeing her baby blue eyes turn murky white then everything went black.
