chapter 11
ice cream!
The rest of the lunch was quiet. No one wanted to speak up and they weren't even surprised.
Hyunjin kept glancing at Izzy while eating, while Izzy kept glancing at Alaska, looking for some form of help.
"I need an ice-cream," Izzy mumbled when they all finished their lunch. "Anyone want to go with me to the shop?" She asked, looking at her two friends.
However, they weren't the ones to speak up. "I'll go," Minho said, making Izzy glance at Tessa. She just shrugged, looking at the male.
"I want an ice-cream too," Felix commented, standing up. "We'll talk to her for you," He whispered to Hyunjin, patting his back as he walked away from the table, waiting for Izzy and Minho to do the same thing.
Hyunjin turned to him. When he saw Felix smile at him, trying to show him it'll be okay, Hyunjin slightly nodded, also smiling.
The three of them walked out of the house, as quiet as before. Izzy put her hands into her pockets, kicking the small rocks under her feet. Felix glanced at Minho immediately before walking up to her.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asked, his hands also in his pockets now.
"I am good," Izzy smiled at him.
"You know, Laska and Hyunjin argue a lot. You'll get used to it at some point," Minho added, catching up on the two of them.
"Oh yeah, I know," Izzy responded. "Honestly, I still don't get why, but they can do whatever they want."
"Then, what is it?"
"Just...mind full of thoughts," Izzy laughed, only making Felix more worried.
"Because of what Laska said?"
"Yeah," she sighed. "She thinks Hyunjin has a crush on me."
"That's why she made the comment," Minho mumbled, Izzy nodding.
All of the guys knew Hyunjin had a crush on her and they thought it was pretty obvious, but they never would have guessed she would react like this.
"Izzy, I wouldn't pay attention to what Laska said if I was you," Felix said, sighing. "They are so against each other that you can't take anything they say seriously."
"So you don't think he has a crush on me?" Izzy questioned, looking at him.
"Definitely not, he is obsessed with his soulmate," Minho stopped Felix from saying anything. Felix quietly sighed, glad that Minho went too.
"Ah, what about you and your soulmate?" Felix asked, smiling again, trying to change the topic. Izzy was now smiling too, her sight automatically falling on her arm.
"He's an idiot, but I still like him," She answered, feeling something ticklish on her arm. Her eyes widened, seeing a 'Hey' written on her arm. As if he knew they were talking about him. "Lix, do you have a pen?" She asked, excited and Felix nodded, grabbing a pen from his pocket.
It was only now that Felix noticed the star on her wrist. He looked up on Minho right away, questioning if he saw it too, but Minho was as calm as always.
But the truth was, Minho noticed the star too. And he did way sooner than Felix. A few days ago already. He never mentioned anything though, hoping Hyunjin would notice on his own.
And maybe he did. Maybe he was texting because he realized this is the only way he can get to Izzy, with their soulmate connection. At least that's what Minho hoped for.
"Oh, sorry, you don't mind if I answer him, do you?" Izzy asked before writing anything.
"We'll be fine," Felix assured her. "Minho might not be as fun as you, but I can still talk to him," He added, laughing. Izzy chuckled, nodding before she looked at her arm again.
'Heyyy'
'How are you doing?' Hyunjin wrote on his arm once he walked away to his room, sitting on his bed as he waited for her answer.
'I am fine now! I am going for some ice-cream with my friends!'
'Fine now? Anything happened before?'
'Talkative much today huh? I thought you didn't want to talk to me.' Izzy wrote, avoiding his question.
'I always wanted to talk to you' He answered, remembering the four years he waited for her to text him.
He sighed, I am such an asshole. He thought, realizing unlike her, he was doing it to her intentionally.
She couldn't text him, it wasn't her fault. But Hyunjin chose to not say anything. He chose to avoid his soulmate so he could talk to Izzy instead.
The worst thing about it was that they were the same person.
'I am sorry about before, maybe I'll explain myself once' He added, making Izzy smile.
'It's okay! As long as we can text I am fine!' Izzy answered, making Hyunjin smile too. He knew they were both thinking about something else, but he was still glad she seemed happy.
It didn't matter that he was apologizing for what happened during their lunch today, while she was thinking about those drawings of his, because they were both smiling now.
And as long as she was smiling, he was fine with anything.
Before Izzy could realize, they were standing in front of an ice-cream shop. And when they each picked up ice-cream for all of their friends, after a small argument because Minho thought they should take one for them too, they turned around, going back.
"I started texting my soulmate before and totally ditched you two," Izzy started, Felix shaking his head right away. "But now I am going to ask! What about your soulmates? Is it anyhow promising like Hana and Seungmin?" She smirked, looking at the two males next to her.
"She is up at weird hours," Minho muttered, catching Felix's attention. It was probably the first time he heard Minho talk about his soulmate.
"I almost forgot you had a soulmate too," Felix commented, making him roll his eyes. "You never text her! You're like Hyunjin!"
"I am not, shut up." Minho answered, deciding ignoring Felix for a little while was the best choice he had right now.
Izzy chuckled at first, looking at the two of them, but she ended up laughing soon after. Hanging out with them wasn't even half bad as Laska made it seem. "And you Felix?"
"Way better than Minho," He said proudly, chuckling. "We actually text each other when I don't have practice."
"Or when you're not convincing Hyunjin to make Laska hang out with us," Minho scoffed.
Izzy raised her eyebrow, smirking at the currently blue-haired male next to her. Was he actually doing that? And should she mention it to Laska?
"It feels like she is avoiding me, I just want to talk to her again. It's been ages since she even looked at me," Felix sighed, explaining he has a reason for that.
"I doubt she is avoiding you," Izzy commented, knowing it was actually possible. She was trying so hard to convince her friends and herself that she was over Felix that avoiding him was the best thing she could think about.
They managed to get back to the Hwang's house, opening the door, finding it awfully quiet.
"Hey, Iz, do you think I could go to Laska with her ice cream?" Felix asked with puppy eyes so he could convince her easier.
"Sure," She chuckled, giving him the ice cream that she was carrying the whole way.
"Great!" He smiled, "Take this to Hyunjin and Jisung, thanks!" He smiled, giving her the two ice creams. Before she could say anything he was already on his way to her room, hoping she might be there.
Izzy sighed, looking at Minho next to her. "He actually just ran into her room, huh?"
"Yeah," He muttered. "Let him be, he'll realize she is his soulmate soon."
He said it so casually that she almost dropped all the ice creams on the ground. "What? Are you serious?" She asked in shock.
Minho always seemed closed off in Izzy's eyes. He even reminded her of Hana, but she never knew why. But she was slowly realizing what their similarities were. The fact they both could observe others so well and would notice the small things was the most obvious similarity they had.
