Aliza pushed open the heavy glass door, the familiar jingle of the bell rung as she entered announcing her arrival. The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee wrapped around her like a warm blanket, a stark contrast that clung to the air outside. It was a crisp Saturday morning, and she promised herself a day full of her favorite pastries and music. But as she scanned the room her heart plummeted to oblivion.
There, in the far corner, sat Vinnie. Aliza's heart skipped a beat, unbidden memories rushed back to her like a tidal wave. It had been a few months since they ended things, but there he was laughing across the table with another girl, her long hair cascading around her shoulders, and the way she leaned in captivated by Vinnie's words. Her mind worried, while feeling a rush of jealousy scanned through her.
Aliza collects her thoughts taking a deep breath and steered her direction to a table, carefully positioning herself so she could catch a glimpse of the two across from her without being too obvious. The girl had a bright, infectious smile, and Vinnie seemed to enjoy her company "Why couldn't he look at me that way" she thought and closes her eyes as she felt the knife twist. They shared many moments like coffee dates, whispered secrets, laughter that ringed through the air like music.
Aliza stirred her steaming cup of coffee of chai absentmindedly, absorbing the bittersweet concoction of nostalgia and heartache. It felt inevitable when she and Vinnie had broken up, a mutual decision wrapped in promises of friendship and hope that time could eventually heal their wounds. But seeing him there with someone new ignited a shifted a fire inside of her as if she was being burnt alive.
Thoughts of Matt rushed over her, he was charming to his own right, always ready to lift up her spirits and generous with no hesitation. Their relationship felt safe and Matt was always there for her. She leaves the cafe after being done eventually seeing Matt laid on the couch, he spots her holding his arms open but she walked past him.
As the day progressed, memories of her time with Vinnie danced before her. A bittersweet ballet of stolen moments and endless laughter. She thought about the simplicity of her and Matt's love Was it right to compare the two? Vinnie brought her pain and endless torment but yet there still stood Matt who filled her hours with warmth, scrolling through the park with joy plastered over their faces and true moments of admiration. Yet the thought of Vinnie was still there that lingered like an echo, altering the vibrate scenery with shades of grey.
That night lying in bed, Aliza stared at the ceiling, a torrent of regret swirling at her heart. I don't wanna lose Matt her thoughts consumed her hoping she didn't make the wrong choice. Just when everything seemed perfect, uncertainty crashed down on her. She turned to a sleeping Matt, she reached her hand out to his tranquil and serene face creasing his every feature with the fear of losing him, the thought fractured her heart ripping her in two.

Matt and Aliza had been together for 2 years now, their relationship had fair share of of ups and downs. However, things took a turn when they both got into a argument over a trival.
It all started when Matt forgot to pick Aliza up from work, causing her to stand out in the cold for over an hour. When Matt arrived he apologized but she was still upset and didn't hold back her emotions.
"matt you're so fucking irresponsible! How could you forget to pick me up? Do you even care about me at all?" Matt tried to apologize and explain he lost track of time but yet she still uttered words that she knew would cut deep. "I can't believe I am with someone as stupid as you! I should've just stayed with Vinnie" Aliza said to him with resentment written over her face. "I'm sorry Aliza..I didn't mean to" Her words cut him deep but somehow he still ended up apologizing "just don't leave me please..Don't go with him" he cried while begging her. She brought up Vinnie...her eyes soften as she realized the sobbing Matt in front of her.
Matt was upset. He felt insecure about the relationship that she once shared with Vinnie, and she was now using it against him in the worst way possible. He felt like he was being compared to someone he wouldn't measure up to.
Aliza didn't care and kept escalating the argument between them. She said things she knew she would regret. The wounds of past hurts were reopened causing more hurt.
After Aliza went hours of yelling at Matt, he was emotionally and physically tired at the hands being thrown at him along with all the emotionally wrecking words. He treated his wounds hissing at every tap against the bruise of his left arm. Those toxic words still remained in the air, they were to feel the presence of the said words in the atmosphere around them which caused a tear in their once loving relationship.

Matt and Aliza looked at each other as if they didn't have anything to say. They realized that they shouldn't fight like this, they didn't wanna lose each other. Finally breaking the silence, Aliza speaks "matt... it was cruel of me to say that to you.." Matt's eyes filled with tears "it's okay.. i'll be better for you I promise" She shakes her head "no you are enough baby.." She embraces him while tears fall down her cheek. As they hugged they promised communication, to listen and never let the past come to haunt them again. A feeling of love and understanding washed over them. In that moment, Matt leaned in and gently kissed Aliza on the lips. It was volume that spoke their love about one another.
