under the mistletoe ||kagehina||

"Hurry up! The cold air is getting in!" Suga yelled making Asahi fasten his pace, poor boy almost slipped and fell.

"Sorry, sorry, it's so slippery. I was afraid I would drop the cake" Asahi smiled weakly before shaking the snow off of his beanie and stepping into the warm gym.

"Oh, Asahi, I thought you wouldn't come" Daichi yelled from above, he was busy hanging christmas decorations.

"How could I miss this? So, as I'm guessing, the third years are making this place look pretty.." Asahi took off his coat and looked around, the place seemed pretty welcoming and christmas-y.

"Yeah, the others are bringing food. Tsukishima said he'd be here early since as he said, and I quote, he wants to be here before Kageyama and Hinata come in" Daichi laughed.

"So, c'mon Asahi, help us!" Suga practically pushed Asahi to the fake Christmas tree and pointed at the box full of ornaments. "While we finish hanging christmas lights, decorate the tree"

The whole place filled with warm atmosphere, a quiet "Winter Wonderland" was playing somewhere making others feel even happier.

Suddenly the door opened and a set of footsteps were heard, Suga didn't even have to look to know who it was when he heard "oh, we're first. Good. The King would have broken something already", followed by a small "yeah".

"Tsukishima, Yamaguchi! Glad you made it!" Suga waved at them, as expected, Yamaguchi was the only one who waved back.

"We brought drinks, you know, cola and stuff like that" Tsukishima mumbled as he placed the bag on the floor.

"That's good! Now help us, could you place those cushions into a circle?" Suga pointed at the tower of cushions and without even saying anything the two started working.

The space soon filled with colorful lights, a beautiful tree and a small table surrounded by many soft cushions. Tsukishima had already monopolized his spot, the one farthest from the christmas tree.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!" Tanaka yelled the moment he opened the door, soon a loud yell followed him as Nishinoya practically flew into the gym.

"It's the 23rd. It's not christmas yet" Tsukishima said.

"Doesn't matter! It's christmas everyday if you think about it! Oh, we brought some pork buns!" Noya yelled again, his eyes spotted Asahi who was trying to hide behind the tree.

The shorter male rushed to him and before Asahi could react Noya had already jumped right at him.

"Merry Christmas, Asahi!" He exclaimed as he hugged him, though, Asahi had to bend his knees a bit since Noya was a bit too short.

Everybody started gathering little by little, Kinoshita joined them as well, Yachi came in running as she thought she was an hour late, Kiyoko walked in rather elegantly and gave everyone her homemade cookies (which Noya and Tanaka promised to savour and frame, and hang them on the wall). Soon enough, only two were missing.

Kageyama and Hinata.

"Tsk... as always, they're either late or too early" Tsukishima said, annoyed. He felt Yamaguchi nudge him slightly.

"Tsukishima, it's almost christmas, be nice at least one day of the year" Tanaka smiled before continuing to stare at Kiyoko who was making sure all the snacks were put on the table nicely.

The door suddenly slammed open and a very cold and out-of-breath Kageyama walked in.

"Sorry I'm late! There was a....thing" he decided on not telling when happened, though everything became pretty obvious when Hinata jumped in as well.

"Did you guys have a bike race again? It's cold outside! You could have gotten a cold!" Suga started ranting.

"It wasn't supposed to happen, we just got too competitive" Kageyama explained. The two soon joined the circle, to their luck, they were the ones sitting near the christmas tree.

"So, now that we all are here, let's wish eachother something! Christmas is all about being nice and positive, so everyone will have to tell something encouraging to the person on their left!" Suga announced with a smile on his face. "I'll start! Daichi, I hope you stay healthy and never get hit with the ball so hard your tooth comes out!"

"Oh wow, thanks Suga... well, Asahi, I hope you gain more confidence in yourself, because you're a great person and player" Daichi spoke seriously.

"Thanks Daichi, that's a good thing to wish. Uhh, Nishinoya, I really wish you happy holidays and I hope you never injure your legs. Honestly, you keep practising and I'm really scared you're gon---" Asahi was cut off when Noya started laughing.

"Don't be so afraid, Asahi. You know I'd never fo anything like that... Yamaguchi!" The sudden turn startled the other, Noya put his hands on Yamaguchi's shoulders and looked him straight in the eyes. "Don't you ever doubt yourself, you're great!"

"Nishinoya-san, my shoulders hurt and Tsukki is giving you a death glare, but thank you.. " he smiled and slowly turned his head to the blonde next to him. "Tsukki, be nice"

"Nice kill" Tanaka whispered.

"Tanaka-san... don't take off your shirt during practises, it makes everyone uncomfortable" Tsukishima said with a complete pokerface.

"Hey! It's supposed to be nice and encouraging!" Suga pouted, but he expected this whole thing to go wrong.

Tanaka then told Ennoshita to believe in himself, Ennoshita told Narita to hang out with him more often, Narita whispered something to Kinoshita which made him slap Narita's arm.

Kinoshita told Yachi to be more confident in her skills. When it was Yachi's turn to tell Kiyoko something, the whole gym went silent, just so everyone could hear and see what Kiyoko would do. Yachi wished her happy holidays and to be more careful. A second later a weird noise left Tanaka's mouth as he watched Kiyoko wish Kageyama to not be so stuck up on his past.

As Kageyama turned to Hinata, he could feel his cheeks heating up. Hinata was smiling from ear to ear, the fact that christmas lights reflected in his already sparkly eyes did not help Kageyama focus.

"Well, Hinata.. I wish you to become the greatest spiker ever! With my help ofcourse" he said, his voice cracked midway, to his luck no one noticed that.

"Awh, aren't you a nice one" Tsukishima said, but was once again cut off by Yamaguchi nudging him, this time harder.

"And I wish you to become the greatest setter! Oh and also.." Hinata tried to muster up his courage, but for some reason he wasn't able to, he wanted to tell Kageyama so much and yet... "also, I wanted to wish you happy holidays.."

The time seemed to pass too quickly. Before they knew it Noya was telling funny christmas stories, while Ennoshita was talking about some scary Icelandic legend. The clock moved faster than usual, even Tsukishima warmed up enough to tell everybody his weird experiences.

All in all, the evening was going great, everyone was happy and in christmas spirit. Kageyama and Hinata occasionally changed glances and soft touches, and yet they didn't manage to speak to eachother, to tell eachother what they've been holding in.

"Ah, we're out of drinks!" Tanaka exclaimed as Kiyoko finished pouring the last glass of cola.

"I'll make a quick run!" Kageyama volunteered.

"I-I'll keep company!" Hinata jumped up and went to grab his scarf.

The two of them left and walked a good part of the way in silence, it was Kageyama who spoke first.

"You really didn't have to keep me company, you're gonna get a cold" he said, Hinata just chuckled.

"It's fine, I didn't want you to feel alone" Hinata smiled faintly making Kageyama blush again.

Kageyama wished he had enough courage to tell Hinata how he felt right there, right now, but his stupid heart was beating so fast that he couldn't even handle himself. Hinata suddenly stopped and started searching through his pockets, he took out a small, fake mistletoe he had carried with him.

Hinata ran up to Kageyama and raised his arm up high.

"Oh, look, we're under a mistletoe" he said, his cheeks were burning up, but it was now or never.

"Wha-?" Kageyama tried to grab a hold of his thoughts, but they were all over the place. They were under the mistletoe? As in under the mistletoe when you have to kiss? What? How? Why? He wasn't ready!

Just as Hinata was slowly starting to lose the wave of confidence that had washed over him, Kageyama let out a small laugh.

"What's so funny, Bakageyama?" Hinata faked anger, but just a second later he felt Kageyama's cold, but soft, lips on his forehead.

"You're the---" Kageyama was cut off by Hinata who pulled his scarf down and kissed him. It was a warm and soft kiss, full of hidden feelings and love. It didn't last as long as Kageyama wanted it to, but it was more than enough.

As Hinata finally pulled away and ran forward, all embarrassed and red, Kageyama whispered under his breath "Idiot... I love you so much"
