not so happy campers (2)
Standing on top of the cliff we peer into the water. It's very high up. The walk up was so long too. We're all dressed in our swimwear as Chris stands with a proud smile on his face.
"Today's challenge is threefold. Your first task is to jump off this one thousand foot high cliff into the lake."
"Piece of cake." Bridgette says from beside me. Me and her, with Gwen following behind us, talked the entire walk uphill. Gwen chimed in every now and then.
"If you look down you will see two target areas. The wider area represents the part of the lake that we have stocked with psychotic-maneater-sharks. Inside that area is a safe zone. That's your target area which I'm pretty sure is shark free."
"Excuse me?" Leshawna says.
"For each member of your team that jumps and actually survives, there will be a crate of supplies waiting below. Inside each crate are supplies necessary for your next part of the challenge. Building a hot tub. Whoever builds the best one gets to have a wicked hot tub party tonight. The losers will have to send somebody home."
He instructs for the Killer Bass to go first. Bridgette asks her team who's going first but no one speaks up. She then decides to take a chance and be the first one to go. One by one the rest of her teammates follow suit, some yelling in excitement like Geoff, others showing no emotion, like Duncan.
It gets to DJ's turn, and he refuses to go. "Uh uh, I'm not doin' it."
"Scared of heights?"
"Yeah, ever since I was a kid."
"That's okay buddy. Unfortanely for you, that makes you a chicken!" Chris places a chicken hat on his head. "You'll have to wear this for the rest of the day."
"Aw man." DJ sulks over to the side to take the way back down and reunite with his teammates. Chris imitates a chicken noise and points to the way down.
The homeschooled boy decides to jump next, but he hits his head on a rock. Good thing he landed in the safe zone. All his friends cheered for him and I decided to clap as well.
"Umm, who's team are you on?" Noah asks from beside me.
I shrug my shoulders at him. "This team. I just think he could use some encouragement. I mean he's never been around so many people before."
"Let me guess you're gonna hug and coddle him when you see him too?" He says clasping his hands together to mock you. You playfully roll your eyes and keep watching the challenge in front of you.
Harold goes next but lands in an awkawrd position hurting his crotch. He yells in agony as we all wince at his misfortune. Courtney was set to go next, but she wasn't budging. She tried to talk her way out of it, but instead was met with a chicken hat on her head.
"Hmm, let me tally up the results ....wait a minute. We're missing someone."
"I'm not jumping without Katie!" Sadie protests.
"We have to be on the same team Chris." The two of them start to beg Chris to swap until Izzy offers to switch with Sadie. He allows it in order to get the two girls off his case. They jump off into the lake a complete that section of the challenge for their team.
"Okay, so that's nine jumpers and two chickens. Screaming Gophers, if you can beat that we'll throw in a pull cart to put your crates on."
"Nice!" Trent says to the group. "Okay guys, who's up first?"
"I'm sorry. There's no way I'm doing this." Heather says.
"Why not?"
"Hello, national tv, I'll get my hair wet."
"You're kidding right?" Gwen says as me, her, and Leshawna give her a judgemental look. I really wanted to win, but a part of me kind of agreed with her. I hate having wet hair.
"If she's not doing it I'm not doing it." Lindsey says making Heather smile.
"Lindsey..." I say trying to convince her. "Guys we're trying to win here. Try to show some effort."
"What she said." Leshawna starts. I smile thinking she'd take a kind approach to convincing the two. But I was mistaken. "And you're doing it."
"Says who?"
"Says me. I'm not losing this 'cause you got your hair did you spoiled little daddy's girl." Lindsey takes a step beside me grabbing on my arm as we watch the two go at it.
"Back off ghetto glamor too tight pants wearing rap star wannabe."
"Mall shopping ponytail wearing teen girl reading peaking in high school prom queen."
"Well at least I'm popular." Heather says with a grin. We all gasp as Leshawna is fuming. She gets right up in her face.
"You're jumping!"
"Make me." And with that being said Leshawna picks up Heather and throws her over the cliff. Heather screams get quieter as she finally goes into the lake. She comes up for air and yells back up to the top. "Ugh. Leshawna! You're so dead."
"Aye, I threw you into the safe zone, didn't I? Now I just hope I can hit it too. Woah!" Leshawna jumps and she does in fact land in the safe zone.
Lindsey stands at the edge of the cliff talking to Chris. "I thought this would be like a talent contest?"
"Yeah...no." He smiles. Lindsey jumps off the cliff flailing her arms all over the place. She lands in the safe zone and comes up for air just as the first two girls did. I peak over the edge and start to feel lighthead. I stand back up and fall back into someone's chest. I turn and see Trent grabbing me by my shoulders to keep me up right.
"You okay?"
I nod my head and look back down. "Yeah just, it looks different now that I'm actually about to do it."
"Hey, you got this! I believe in you." I nod my head at him and get a running start. I then take a swan dive into the lake. I didn't exactly know what to do and flailing my arms like Lindsey didn't seem practical. I land in the safe zone and soon see Gwen falling in right after me. She comes up for air and we both swim to the boat. Once taken to shore I go to sit on a rock and she sits on the beach near me.
"Wow that was so crazy. Don't you think that was crazy Gwen!" I say with excitement.
"Yeah...the craziest." She deadpans. We both watch more of our team members jump off the cliff. Beth was too afraid so she received a chicken hat. Along with Heather and Lindsey calling her lame. Trent goes next. When he comes up for air he turns towards the beach and waves. I laugh and wave back at him.
"Aww he did it. Yay." I say to myself while waving still. Gwen looks at me and rolls her eyes.
Owen is our teams last hope to secure the victory. He waits at the top for a moment to contemplate his decision. As we wait Cody and Leshawna stand near us looking at the top.
"Think he'll do it."
"Nope." Gwen says. I've learned that she's a bit pessimisstic and likes to keep to herself.
"Have faith Gwen. I think he's got it." Trent comes out of no where and stands behind me. He places a hand on my shoulder.
Soon enough Owen jumps, proving Gwen wrong and splahsing everyone in the area with water. The wave causes me to be moved off of my rock and splayed out across the beach. I cough up some water as Owen is cheering.

"49 bottles of pop on the wall, 49 bottles of pop. If one of those bottles should happen to fall, 48 bottles of pop on the wall." We all sing as we move towards camp with our crates. I walk alongside Beth as she and I haul the crates together.
"Hey look! There's the campground." Beth cheers.
"We made!" I say from beside her.
"That was pretty easy."
"I'm pleasantly surprised." Owen and Cody chat with one another. We get to work setting up our hot tub.

"Remember, you can only use your teeth to open the crates.", Chris says walking back and forth. Me and Izzy are using our teeth to try and pull open the crate. We struggle for a moment before we finally get it to open.
Izzy spits on to the ground and sticks her tongue out. "Ow ow, rope burn on my tongue."
We all rummage through our crates and take our supplies.
"Ayeee check it out, I got some wood!"
"I've got some tools here, and what looks like a pool liner." Trent says. He passes me the liner to hold while he keeps going through his crate.
I look around and see Heather and Lindsey go up to Leshawna. I smile in relief as they seem to be settling their differences. The two girls then walk away from her and Leshawna keeps on doing what she was doing.
The other team staggers in. They come in different intervals as some are stronger than the rest. They're all worn out and out of breath. Courtney walks closer to us and I can see that her eye is messed up.
"Courtney what's wrong with your eye!", I say kinda loud.
"Um, nothing! I have allergies.", she covers her eye in embarrassment and her teammates speak up.
"I think it's getting worse, ey-"
"Shut it. I don't want them to know that!", Courtney sharply says.

Beth and I finish hammering in the final nails to our hot tub. Ours is literally flawless. But in comparison, the bass hot tub is barely holding it together.
When both teams are done, we all stand with our hot tubs as Chris gets ready to judge them. He goes to ours first and praises our craftsmanship. Owen comes out of the water when he hears us cheering.
Chris goes to the bass hot tub and there's a seagull floating around the surface. A leak gets through and hits Chris in the face. Soon enough the hot tub falls apart, making the Killer Bass' faces deflate. Chris announces us as the winners and we all cheer.
"Gophers, your safe from elimination. And you get to rock this awesome hot tub for the rest of the summer! Killer Bass, what can I say, sucks to be you right now. I'll see your sorry asses at the elimination ceremony tonight.

After Ezekiel's diss to girls everywhere, he got on the bad side of his teammates so he was voted off. We enjoyed our hot tub party. Me and Lindsey sat beside each other in the hot tub as we got to know our teammates better.
The day ended well as we survived our first night at camp.
***confessionals****
Y/n: Today was great! Everyone seems to be getting along well. I think everyone's so nice and I can't wait to get to know them better.
Gwen: Camp...still sucks. But, not everyone here is bad I guess.
Courtney: Mark my words, we will win the next challenge. That I can promise you."
