In the time you had known Davey, he turned out to be extremely nice. A little over-sentimental, but nice. Being a newsie, you hardly met nice people from upper classes, so Davey and Les were a breath of fresh air. So, when Spot Colon, the famous, (and hot) King of the Brooklyn newsies, was back talking Davey, you had to step in and defend him. That's when Spot took notice to you, and instantly took a liking to your hard exterior.
