hey everyone, i'm here with another story, it's just an idea i had. i hope you guys like it!
this story can be related with the story 'time to say goodbye', but you don't have to read it to understand this one (the sequel-ish thing was actually on accident lmao-)
father figure! mando x young adult! reader (ft. luke skywalker)
warnings: mentions of explosions and injures
Ever since Luke took you and Grogu to train, you've been more and more connected to the force, you've been getting stronger, wiser, smarter.
One thing that you also got from that day was longing. You wanted to see Mando again, you wanted to see the person that took you as his own, you wanted to know if he was okay, if he was proud of you.
"You seem troubled, my padawan, is something wrong?" Your Master, Luke Skywalker, pulled you out of your thoughts. You were both meditating on the moment . " I'm fine, it's nothing, Master, I'm sorry, let's continue" You answered, slightly startled by your Master's voice.
As much as tried, you couldn't concentrate, the thoughts kept coming back, and your Master noticed.
"Focus, my padawan." He scolded, you quickly nodded and went back into meditating, successfully focusing this time. "That's enough for today, my padawan, you may go" your Master dismissed you. You back into your chambers and sat on your cot.
Your eyes wandered around your chamber, some books organized on a pile on a desk you had for studying, a small window that allowed rays of sunshine to go trough the glass and spread around the room, a small wardrobe for you to keep your things, and finally, a little bedside table. Your eyes fell on on the signet that Mando gave you, the one that you kept with your life.
As soon as you saw the signet the memories came flooding back and that was all that took for you to completely break, you buried your head on your hands, your body shaking with sobs hot salty tears fell from your eyes and ran down your cheeks.
Unbeknownst to you, your Master was walking on the corridors of the small temple, thinking about your behavior during the meditation, he knew you were hiding something, he knew you weren't fine. His theory was confirmed when he heard the faint sound of sobs and sniffling. His head snapped to the direction of your chamber, he walked to your door and gently knocked it. "Y/n? May I come in, little one?" Your head snapped to the direction of his voice and you quickly dried up your tears and recomposed yourself. You stood up, went to your door and unlocked it, greeting your Master with a smile, you were very good at hiding your feelings, "Hello, Master, how are you?" You greeted, giving him the best fake smile you could.
Getting you out of guard, Luke pulled you into a hug. "It's okay, little one, let it all out" He said, softly. Now, you sobbed into his robes, tears wetting the dark gray fabric while your Master gently ran his fingers trough your hair on a soothing way. After you calmed down, you told him everything, all the doubtfulness you felt, all the insecurity, all the longing, the guilt, everything.
He listened carefully to every word that went out of your mouth, his chest clenching in sympathy and sadness with every time your voice broke. You two stayed like this for a while, until you fell asleep. Your Master gave you a day off, he knew how much you've gone trough, and training with dark thoughts and an upset mind can only bring you to the dark side, which was something neither of you wanted.
When you were feeling better, you went back to training with full force. You wanted to be the best version of yourself, whether it was on the force or on lightsaber combat skills, you wanted to be the best person you could, you wanted to be an example for the baby you saw as your own little brother, you wanted to assure him that he was safe, you wanted to make your Master proud, to make Mando, proud.
---------
You breathed out as you deflected another shot coming your direction, feeling another presence immediately, whipping your head in the direction of the other and dodging it almost immediately. A trunk came rolling down a ramp to knock you down, but you quickly did a backflip over it, landing and slashing the trunk that went above your head with the purple beaming light that came out of your lightsaber right afterwards.
While you were doing this, you Master watched your movements carefully, being happy and proud of the progress you've done since you started.
You were on high alert, since your vision was restricted by the helmet-like thing on your head, so the force was your only guide, it was your eyes. You trained for more 2 hours and your Master dismissed you and told you to rest.
When you woke up the next day you received the news that you'd go on your first mission alone, sure you've gone on many missions with your Master, but this was totally different, you'd be going alone, with no suppervision and the weight of inocent peoples lives on your shoulders.
The mission itself was quite simple, a village was under attack by a group of tusken raiders and a few remaining Imperial workers, you had to evacuate the village and defeat the group of attackers. That didn't mean you wouldn't be nervous, nor it meant that the mission would be easy.
After receiving the instructions, you quickly prepared yourself. You got your robe, a communicator and lastly, you put the signet around your neck.
----
After you were ready for the mission, you entered your ship and inserted the coordinates of the planet in which the hologram immediately popped up, that turned out to be a planet you were quite familiar with. And that planet was Sorgan.
You heart was racing, thinking about what might have happened with the lovely village that was your home for a short period of time.
Before you knew it, your ship had landed. It was around the beginning of the afternoon, so you would have just the enough time to evacuate the village and deal with the attackers at night time--their attacks were on that time, afterall.
You stepped out of your ship and walked to the village. You took a deep breath and started preparing yourself for the speech, you didn't even notice a not-so-little-anymore Winta coming up to you with a smile on her face.
A tap on your shoulder snapped you out of your trance and you looked down to see Winta smiling at you from ear to ear, your face quickly mimicking hers.
"Hey Winta! How have you been? Oh my force, you've grown!" You exclaimed, wrapping Winta in a quick hug. "Hello Y/n! I'm great, thank you!" She answered. "Winta, can you do something for me?" You asked, and she listened carefully, suggesting you to go on. "I need you to gather everyone on the village for me, can you do that?" You asked. "Of course!" She replied, and took off runing to get the others.
Once you had everyone's attention, you started speaking.
"Before I actually start, I want to thank all of you for the warm welcome. But I think I won't be staying here for much time." You stated. "I'm sorry, what I'll ask you right now may seem absurd, but it's for a good cause. I believe that you've been receiving attacks lately, and I was sent to help end this attacks for once and for all." You paused "So, for that to work, I'm going to need the village to be evacuated" You finished, and a surprisingly little ammount of protests was heard, the ones that did were quickly convinced after a little bit of persuading.
-----
The sun had finally set, and the village was evacuated, now you were crouching on a tree branch watching carefully your surroundings. It was quiet. Too quiet.
Before you could react, a bomb was thrown on the tree you were, making you lose your balance and drop from the branch, luckly, you used the force to break your fall.
Your head turned to the sound of another bomb, and your hand went up, throwing the bomb at the direction it was thrown.
You got to o feet, and said, in an authoritative tone. "You are trespassing this village's limits. Please go back to your original place, and this situation can be handled without any sort of hostility and harm." You didn't receive a response, but multiple shots coming your direction.
You dodged and reflected most of them. You took a deep breath and held your lightsaber in a reverse grip, on a fighting stance. You glared at the attackers as they advanced at you.
You force-jumped over them, falling in the midle of the group. A raider saw and lunged at you, however, you were quicker. You held him up with the force an threw him at another raiders and ex-empirials, knocking them out. You continued dodging attacks and slashing attckers, until you felt the wind getting knocked out of your lungs by a fist, straight to your stomach. You stumbled back, gasping for air, trying to regain your breath. The ex-empirial drew his gun and a tusken raider held your arms, before he could shoot, you kicked the gun up and threw your head back, hitting the raider's forehead, making him let go of you. You knocked them both out.
It got quiet again.
It got too quiet.
Multiple shots started being fired at you, you tried to sense any sort of life form. But you didn't find any.
Droids were marching towards the village firing shots, you tried to deflect them, you tried to slash the droids, but it was just to many of them.
You hid behind a crate and dropped to your knees. You held your side, you breathed heavily. You wanted to give up, you were losing hope, you were exausthed.
Your head was surrounded by this thoughts until you felt a hand on your shoulder, you turned your head to the direction of the hand to be met by the ghost version of Obi-wan Kenobi.
He gave you an encouraging smile. "The force will always be with you" He whispered. By hearing his words, you stood up.
You fought every single one of them, you didn't care about the cuts, the bruises, the burns that were scattered around your body.
When the adrenaline was gone you were exausthed.
You were to tired to process the steps of a remaining droid walking towards you, when you turned around the sound of a shot rang trough the land.
You opened your eyes to see the droid montionless on the floor, you searched for the one that saved you, and your eyes landed on a very familiar t-visor.
Mando. Your father.
When your eyes locked, he took of his helmet, dropped it to the floor and ran towards you.
You dropped your lightsaber and ran towards him.
You two crashed in a hug, tears running down both of your faces. "Ni missed gar bid much, ner adiik" Din said, running his fingers on your hair and holding you tightly on his arms.
"I missed you too, Papa, so much" You sobbed, holding him tightly.
He losened his embrace and looked at you. "Oh, you've grown so much" He looked at you fondly, like a proud father would. You looked at each and said
"Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum"
*********
Ni missed gar bid much, ner adiik= I missed you so much, my child
Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum= I love you
