☆ ELIANA FELT WATER dripping onto her face, her nose scrunching up in distaste. She could feel John B moving next to hear, groaning at the liquid dripping onto his face too. He let out a irritated sigh as he sat up and looked at Ellie who was still laying there.

Meanwhile, Ellie's eyes were still closed, hoping to get more sleep. But with the water still dripping on her she just accepted defeat and opened her eyes to see John B on his phone.

"Towers are down." He told her once he saw her peeking over his shoulder. She snatched his phone from him as she looked at the service bar in the corner. SOS. Of fucking course.

"Poor JJ. His Insta models won't be getting his likes anytime soon." John B laughed at her words and got up from the bed, making his way out of the room with Ellie close behind him. As she exited the short hallway, she caught sight of the sleeping blonde on the couch. His mouth open with drool sliding down onto the pillow.

John B went over to JJ and slapped him on his leg. "Yo JJ, you been outside?"

"Nah bro, I got polio I can't walk." JJ replied, voice muffled from the pillow that was covering half of his face. Ellie rolled her eyes as she headed to the kitchen to grab a water bottle. Sometimes she slept with her mouth open, as gross as it was, because she couldn't get enough air from her nose. It resulted in a dry throat and croaky responses when she tried to talk.

After relieving her throat with the cold water, she headed back into John B's room to change. She knew after a hurricane John B always wanted to go fish due to the current bringing in fresh seafood. She hated fishing so she would usually just bring a book to keep herself entertained.

She grabbed a cute pink and orange floral bikini and changed into it, grabbing an off the shoulder t-shirt and jean shorts to cover it up with. Ellie put her hair back in a braid, using the only hair tie she had to tie it off, which was a normal sized elastic and it swallowed all the hair that was left unbraided at the end.

"Hey El, we're getting ready to leave. You coming?" JJ called into the house, the girl nowhere in sight.

"Yeah, coming!" She yelled from John B's room as she grabbed the only book she had with her at the house, The Predator by Rnyx. It was under John b's bed, who knows why, but she was glad she had it with her while they went out to be boring all day.

When she exited the house, the boys had just gotten the boat in the water. She got on the HMS Pogue while John B started the motor, then they were off on their way to Pope's. Ellie let her eyes wander around the marsh at all the damage that had been done. Half of someone's dock had collapsed right in the middle, a huge hole where it should have been connected with the wood in the water right where it had fallen.

"Hi Miss Amy, you guys get through it?" John B waved at the woman who waved back with a smile.

"Still here," was the only reply they got.

"Dude she totally looked at me." JJ said, ego way bigger than he was.

"I saw it," John B told him.

"Don't feed into his delusions John B." Ellie laughed at the glare JJ shot at her, she just flipped him off with a smile in return.

They continued around the marsh when they finally arrived to Pope's dock.

"Well look who we have here." Pope looked up at the voice of one of his best friends, the other two staring at him amused.

"We have a safety meeting, attendance mandatory." Ellie rolled her eyes at John B trying to act like he's talking into a walkie talkie. But a smile engulfed her face when she looked at Pope.

"Hey Pope!" She waved with a smile at the sight of her best friend.

"Morning El! But JB I can't. My Pop's has got me on lockdown." Pope stood there with a hose hanging from his hand while he looked at all of his friends.

"Your dad's a pussy. Over." JJ spoke into his shoulder, doing the same imitation that John B had just done.

"JJ what the hell? You don't say that about someone's dad." Ellie picked up a stray branch that was still in the boat and chucked it at JJ.

"Oh I heard that you little bastard." Heyward came up behind his son, glaring at the blonde boy on the boat.

"We need your son." John B looked to Heyward who gave him an unamused look.

"Yeah island rules." JJ added on, now on the receiving end of Heyward's gaze.

"Day after a hurricane's a free day." The blonde shrugged his shoulders.

"Yeah? And who made that up?" Heyward questioned, not buying it for a second.

"Uh," JJ looked to John B and Ellie, who both gave him an 'you're on your own' look.

"Pentagon. I think. We have security clearance. I have a card." JJ searched his pockets, as if he actually had a card while Ellie snorted from his actions.

"Y'all think I'm stupid?"

"I'll do it tomorrow. I promise. Tomorrow." Pope spoke over his dad.

"No. No no no. Hell no. You're doing it right now." Heyward turned to his son with annoyance on his face. John B and JJ whispering things to Pope about just getting in the boat.

Pope started to walk towards the boat, his dad getting mad behind him. "Boy if you get in that damn boat. Bring yo ass back here." Heyward yelled as the boat started to leave the docks with Pope grimacing at his dad's tone.

"I'll do it tomorrow Dad, I promise."

"You gonna clean shrimp, you'll clean your dirty ass room! And I don't like your friends." Heyward's voice hit Pope like venom but he didn't back down. He wanted to have a fun day with his friends and if it resulted in his dad's scorn, then so be it.

After a couple minutes of light chatter between the four, they pulled up to Kiara's dock, the girl already heading towards them.

"Morning guys." Kie smiled as she walked down her dock.

"Whatcha got? You got some juice boxes?" Pope asked when he saw the small cooler she held in her hands.

"You know, just some yogurts and carrot sticks." Kie replied to him.

"Oh please please please tell me you brought ranch." Ellie practically begged the girl from where she was sitting at the bow of the boat, right next to Pope.

"You already know it babes. Also brought you some Dr. Pepper." Ellie felt her heart ascent at the words Kie had spoken. She instantly jumped up and threw herself at the girl, wrapping her in a hug.

"Ugh I love you! What would I ever do without you?" Ellie let her go and went back to her spot.

"Let's hope we don't find out." Kie giggled, along with Ellie, as she went to place the cooler down next to her. She had sat right behind Pope on the bow, JJ coming over to grab a beer that Kie had brought.

Ellie didn't like beer all that much. It was like a last resort if no other alcohol was available. But even when it was available she still avoided drinking it, hence why Kiara had brought her Dr. Pepper instead. As all the others were talking as John B drove the boat further out into the marsh, Ellie cracked open a Dr. Pepper and took a huge drink from it, then another. She grabbed a bottle of Tito's, which she had hidden under a compartment on the boat, and poured it into the beverage, filling it up to top again.

"El what the fuck. Where did that come from?" John B questioned when she saw the girl holding the bottle. She stopped her movement and looked up at him with a guilty look on her face.

"Guess?" She shrugged.

"You stole it, didn't you. That's what like the fifth bottle this month? It's only the start of June dude." Pope looked at her with disappointment on his face, while JJ just laughed at him.

"Well it's not like I can just buy it. I'm not twenty one Pope, get a brain." Eliana retorted, John B laughing at their conversation.

"I'm just saying, how do they not notice?" Pope wondered aloud.

"Cause she does it Pogue style man. That's my girl." JJ laughed as he walked up to El. They did their handshake, the blonde ruffling her hair after. She glared at him as she fixed the mess he had made. She took a sip of her newly made beverage, wincing at the sharp and stinging taste of the vodka.

"Pope go a little faster, I gotta do my party trick." JJ took a step up to stand atop the bow, the other four groaning in protest.

"JJ no last time you got beer all over my face and my face broke out because of you." Ellie made her way to the back of the boat now, wanting nothing to do with the beer that would undoubtedly splash everywhere.

"JJ this doesn't work. We've tried it like six thousand times." Pope still sped up the boat though, knowing JJ wouldn't stop asking until he did it.

"I got this guys don't worry! It's gonna work." JJ titled the beer up, spraying beer everywhere but his mouth.

The four behind him broke out in groans and yells at the blonde from the beer spilling all over them. 

"All right you're done." Pope shouted. The motor then let out a loud sound and the boat came to a fast halt, throwing everyone around inside the boat. JJ had flipped off of it, landing in the water painfully. Ellie had been flung to the ground, landing on her wrist quite heavily.

"Holy shit. I think my brain just moved." She pushed herself up, the other doing the same when they heard JJ speak up from the water. Everyone moved so that they could see the blonde, who was floating in the water with a pained expression on his face.

"You good J?" Ellie called out of the boy.

"Oh God. I think my heels touched the back of my head." JJ groaned out, letting his body float.

"Everyone good?" John B asked, clearly in pain by the sound of his vice.

"All good." Were the replies back to him.

"Pope. Dude. What did you do?" JJ questioned,

"Sandbar. The channel's changed." The boy defended himself.

"Obviously." Kie spit out, righting herself to sit down and take a breath.

"Ugh, this is probably gonna mess this whole place up." John B sighed as he looked out at the water around them.

Pope got up to the bow to look down at JJ who was swimming up towards the boat. That was when he saw something, a glint in the water catching his eyes.

"Guys. I think there's a boat down there." Pope squinted into the water, caution written all over his face.

"Pope you're shitting us, right?" Ellie looked at the boy in shock, already getting out of her clothes and down to her bikini to jump in and investigate.

"No way." JJ looked around him in wonder.

"You're joking." John B looked at Pope, a serious expression on his face.

"No. No, guys I'm serious. There's a boat down there. Like for real." Pope pointed at a spot in the water and Ellie immediately jumped in, taking everyone by surprise.

"Holy shit! I see it! Guys hurry the fuck up and get in here." Ellie treaded the water gracefully, it was as easy breathing for her. The others hurried to join her and JJ in the water.

Once they were all in, they headed down to the boat together. Ellie kicked her legs and moved her arms, trying to cut through the water quickly. The salt water stung her eyes, but she wouldn't close them, too entranced by the sight before her. After they all got a good look, they kicked off the first thing they saw that was solid around them, and shot up to the surface.

Ellie felt fresh air greet her once she reached the top of the water, gasping to catch her breath.

"Holy shit! Did you guys see that?" JJ was in shock, the others just as much as him. They all started to laugh and shout about it. Nothing ever happened like this in the Outer Banks and the fact that they were the lucky people to find it made them all the more excited.

They swam back towards the boat, JJ talking while swimming. "Guy that's a new Grady White. A new one of those is five hundred G's, easy." The boat tipped to the left once they all heaved themselves up into it, water dripping around them in gushes.

"No yeah, that's the boat I saw when I surfed the surge." John B wondered aloud, the others looking at him in shock.

"You surfed the surge?" Kiara looked to John B with bewilderment.

"The fuck? You didn't tell me you saw a boat." Eliana scolded the boy who looked at her sheepishly.

"That's my boy. Pogue style man." JJ beamed at his best friend, giving him a handshake regardless of Kiara's glare on their backs.

"Wait. Do we know whose boat that is?" Pope asked as he walked over to where the other boys were hunched over a compartment near the front of the boat.

"No. But we're about to find out." John B just smirked at the brunette.

"Dude, it's too deep." JJ said worriedly.

"Oh, for the weak and feeble, JJ." John B uncovered the anchor and heaved it up to rest on the bow of the boat.

"Well I'm not resuscitating you. I'm just making that clear up front." JJ defended himself.

"That's fine." John B puffed out as he grabbed the anchor and lifted it up.

"John B this is so stupid." Ellie shook her head when she saw him walk over to the edge of the boat.

"Diver down, fool." Pope saluted John B, who saluted him back.

"Yeah," before he could finish what he was saying JJ shot out a quick "Yeah he is." Then pushed him off of the boat. Ellie looked at JJ, mouth agape in shock.

"JJ why the fuck would you push him you fucking dingus." Ellie then tried to push JJ in too, but he barely even moved because he held onto her arms before she could succeed in her mission. Kiara just mumbled profanity at JJ under her breath before going over to the side of the boat to look over into the water.

The others also went over to the side of the boat that John B should be on, worried when he didn't come up after a minute. Thankfully, he came crashing to the surface, coughs immediately coming out of his mouth from the water molecules that crowded inside his nose.

"Oh my God that took forever." Kiara commented with a worried tone.

  "Any dead bodies?" Pope asked worriedly.

"No, but I found this motel key." John B held the key up for them all to see it dangling from around his pointer finger.

"A key?" JJ questioned as he pulled up the anchor from the water.

"Yes. A key. Are you blind or something?" Eliana looked at JJ like he was the stupidest person.

John B climbed onto the boat while JJ left the anchor out to dry as much as possible before putting it back into the compartment. Ellie went around the boat and went to the wheel, sitting down on the seat with Kiara coming to sit next to her. She didn't want Pope driving again since last time it ended badly.

As the wind whipped against their faces, water splashing while the boat glided across it, they discussed what to do about the boat.

"Guy, we should report it to the Coast Guard. Maybe we'll get a finders fee!" Kiara commented, trying to get them all to listen to her opinion.

"Yeah, and not work all summer. Thanks Agatha, you batch." JJ stated.

As Ellie drove the boat, she was getting blinded from the sun glistening off the water. It was a beautiful sight before her, she'd be lying if she said she didn't like living here. It was beautiful all year round. And it had storms to keep things interesting.

Of course people losing expensive things wasn't a good thing, but the thrill of a storm surged serotonin into her veins. She loved hearing the rain beat down on all the surfaces around it, the boom of thunder in the sky and clash of lightning that would be painted into the clouds. It was also rare that anyone in their town died from a hurricane, if at all. There hadn't been a death to a hurricane in the Outer Banks since about 2011. But since then it was only ever damage to the land and houses.

Once they arrived at the Coast Guard, John B and JJ went inside while the other three stayed behind to just wait for them to finish. From the time the boys went inside to report the missing vessel, Ellie pulled out her phone to text Sarah back.

Ellie turned her phone off once the texts delivered in green, they had to be sent as text messages and not imessage since that's all that would send right now. Tweedledee and Tweedledum exited the shack and walked over to the group with glum looks on their faces, the other three just looking at them in anticipation.

"Looks like it went well." Ellie looked at them with her lips pulled in a straight line.

"Yeah totally. What are we supposed to do now?" Pope put his hands on his hips, looking at the other two boys in question.

"I say we break into the room." John B said with a laugh, throwing the key to JJ who caught it without a second thought. He laughed as Pope tried to grab the key, JJ threw it to Ellie who caught it swiftly.

"Hell yeah. Let's figure out who this rich bitch is." Ellie laughed with them, Pope immediately denying them.

"Come on Pope. I'll be lookout." Kiara smiled at the boy after Ellie threw the key to her, making Pope turn around to look at the brunette. He accepted defeat and followed them back to the docks where the boat was resting.

As they cruised through the marsh and came up to the motel, JJ let out a whistle at the dump before them.

"Damn. And I thought the Chateau looked bad."

"This place is a shitshow." John B commented.

"How the hell did this guy own a Grady White but was staying here? What the fuck." Ellie was confused on the whole situation. She was honestly lost about how they even got here and the whole mystery aspect of this.  

"Yeah this looks like the type of place someone with a Grady White would get killed." Pope said as he started to the building in disgust.

Once they got the boat tied off, they were deciding who was gonna go up. It was JJ and John B who offered, the other three wanting next to nothing to do with breaking into the room.

"Hey," Pope looked to John B, who turned around to hear him. "Don't let him," he pointed to JJ, "do anything stupid."

"Oh we will." JJ replied, knowing it would make Pope agitated.

"Yeah no promises." John B patted Pope on his shoulder and got off of the boat, following JJ on his path to the nearest stairs.

"Seriously guys be careful. Don't like, die, or anything." Ellie rolled her eyes at the strange look JJ gave while John B just smiled slightly and saluted her teasingly. Then, they were gone and entering the motel room.

so i'm fucked because i have the first 10 chapters planned and they only cover episode 1 and 2.. safe to say if i stick with this there will have to be two seperate books bc then there would be too many chapter to fit into one.
