chapter two, the queens

the blonde looked down at her notebook as she sketched on it. soft doodles lining the page as she drew. the noise around her being canceled out as the lead filled the lined pages.

her feet laid on another chair that she positioned in front of her as she had her notebook on the table. she was sitting up with her legs out.

flash say opposite of her as he read one of his comic books that he would occasionally make a laugh at. his annoying piercing sound making its way through her ear drums.

the club meeting has gone at least an hour now. they had at least thirty minutes left. the team was preparing for the academic decathlon.

it was a big thing.

at least that's what it seemed like.

liz suggested stella to be apart of the team. the word 'suggested' being used lightly.

stella was smart. very smart. but she wasn't " lead" material. everyone knew it. they just didn't admit it.

it's just there was questions where she knew she didn't have to practice. it was common sense.

it was always common sense.

she contuined to look down at her paper before she heard her name being said causing the girl to look him.

" stella your in for peter" liz spoke as she made eye contact with the blonde. stella looked at her confused.

" or flash" liz trailed on before flash opened up his mouth.

" i don't know, i gotta check my calendar first. i got a hot date with black widow coming up" flash spoke. stella only looked at him disgusted before she heard a bell ring.

" that's false" abe spoke out.

stella let out a small smile towards the boys words before looking back down at her notebook.

the roads were busy like always after school. the city was buzzing with noises. some bad some good.

it depended on what part of queens you were in.

stella took the long way home everyday. she knew her parents weren't gonna be home so she didn't want to sit in a empty townhouse admiring the streets as people walked by.

it would get lonely.

eventually the roads would turn bare less and the sky would turn black with small specs of white throughout it.

her parents were out of town. lawyers. they had a case to intend to. and unfortunately for her, they worked together so they were out at the same time.

always.

the wind moved through her hair as she rode her bike. she let out small " excuse me's" if people were in her way as she rode on the sidewalk.

her speed came to a small hold as she got off her bike and leaned it on the side of a small building.

she walked to the front of it as she entered through the opening doors.

it smelled of roses and daisy's. mixed with other flower scents as well.

𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑔𝑜𝑡𝑠 𝐹𝑙𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟 𝑆ℎ𝑜𝑝 hung on the outside in big letters.

the blonde came there every day after school. and without fail the older women would be standing at the register ringing up customers or somewhere else around the store doing what she felt like she needed to be done.

it was the blondes lucky day as she saw margot standing at the register watering a flower pot she kept near by.

" excuse me, do you have any peony's" stella let out as she saw the women turn to look at her.

" stella my dear" the older women spoke. she was at least in her fifty's.

" hi margot" stella said sweetly. " so do you have those flowers" she asked. margot nodded her head before turning around and ducking down grabbing a bouquet full of flowers.

they were peony's.

" kept these just for you my dear stella" margot told her. stell smiled at her as she reached over to grab the flowers.

" how much do i owe you" stella asked, even if she already knew the older women wouldn't let her pay.

" your presence is good enough" margot spoke out. " margot, tomorrow i'm paying you. no negotiating" stella spoke as she started walking backwards.

" bye my dear stella" margot told her waving at the girl before she went back to her watering.

" bye margot" stella spoke before turning around to face forward as she walked out the door.
