A/N: this one is for my friend...sorry it's a little short

Jughead Jones has always been able to read other people soulmates. A red string would tie at both of their wrists, connecting the pair together. Although he himself, didn't have a string.

He sat down at a picnic table, cracking open his laptop to write about how soulmates should meet and their love story. He looked up and saw his best friend Toni sitting across from him.

"Hey T..." he mumbled, trying to find a way to phrase a sentence correctly. When he had achieved it, he looked up at Toni. He saw Toni's string led into Southside High.

"What are you doing Jones?" She asked, smiling warmly at him, curiosity hinted her eyes.

"Writing."

Toni rolled her eyes, "wow Jones- more specific please. Writing what?"

"It's a story..."

Toni seemed intrigued, he noticed Sweetpea came outside.

"Hey Jones," Sweetpea said, sitting next to Toni, "whatcha doing?"

Toni looked at Sweetpea and smiled softly, Jughead eyes flickered back and forth from the two, noticing their strings connected to each other.

"Writing..." he breathed, looking at their string. Sweetpea frowned, Toni looked at the table.

"Guys...chill okay? Just my normal monologging about this town." Jughead laughed a little, both seemed to have lightened up.

"Toni...um, I'm gonna go get something from the vending machine. D-do you want something to eat?" Sweetpea asked, looking into her eyes. Jughead looked at Toni.

"Oh...um yeah sure- can I get a bag of chips? Please?"

Sweetpea nodded and made his way to the vending machine, the red string getting longer as he walked.

"Okay Toni, did you see that? I think he's into you."

Toni laughed, "god Jug- he doesn't like me like that, besides it's just a snack." She replied, her eyes darted over to the vending machine where Sweetpea was.

"Well then how come he didn't ask me?"

Toni rolled her eyes playfully and turned her head to see Sweetpea come back with two bags of chips. He handed Toni a bag.

"Thanks Pea." She said, tearing the bag open, Sweetpea sat next to her. Toni smiled awkwardly at him, recalling what Jughead has said. Then the bell rang.

Jughead watched Toni and Sweetpea get up, Sweetpea asking her if he could walk her to her next class. She nodded and linked her arm with his, Jughead chuckled.

Jughead watched the red strings all day, whether it was Sweetpea and Toni or his other classmates, he admitted to himself he was fascinated, and destined to get his two friends together.

"Toni!" Jughead shouted, as the final bell rang. The pink haired girl turned around and smiled softly, trying hard to cover the annoyed expression.

"Hey Jug..." she sighed, falling into pace with him.

"What's on your mind T?" He asked concerned, crossing the road with her, leading onto the sidewalk.

"Have you ever liked someone before but too scared to say it?"

"Why?"

Toni looked at him helplessly, Jughead got the message. A smiled cracked his lips,

"Sweetpea?" He asked, grinning at her. She purses her lips and nodded.

"Tomorrow" Jughead said, "I'll get you two together." He said encouragingly. Toni smiled and hugged him, telling him thank you about 90 times, then running into her trailer.

The next day at lunch Sweetpea sat next to Toni, both sat across from Jughead again.

"Hey Toni- you free on Friday?"

Toni nodded, Jughead glanced and watched Sweetpea glare down at the table, his fists were clenched slightly.

"Sweetpea?"

Sweetpea snapped up and muttered something, Jughead repeated his question, "are you free on Friday?"

"Oh," Sweetpea sighed in relief, "yeah I guess so." He shrugged. Jughead grinned at both of them.

"Good. Because I'm not, I have something with Betty. You two enjoy your date." He said, collecting his things and walking over to the vending machine, he smiled at Toni.

Sweetpea laughed, Toni scoffed.

"Did he just-?" Sweetpea pointed at Jug, smiling at Toni. Toni laughed and stood up,

"See you Friday." She said, slinging her bag over her shoulder. She kissed his cheek and then started walking towards Jughead.

Sweetpea rubbed his cheek and smiled, biting his lip as he looked at the ground.

Toni high-fived Jughead as she passed, her smile growing wider as she walked away. Their red string growing longer once more.
