Flames danced wildly, consuming everything in their path, while chaos engulfed her home. Iseul could only watch as her childhood memories turned to ash, all sparked by her father's reckless ambitions.
Her mother knelt on the floor, tears streaming down her face as she cursed the man who had brought them to this moment. "If only I had married someone with a stable job! and not for love" she shouted, her voice filled with despair
With her hair disheveled from the smoke, Iseul glared at the destruction unfolding before her. She refused to become like her mother—never again.
Determined to change her fate, she scanned the crowd for a suitable suitor, and her gaze fell on the neighborhood nerd. His hair brushed just below his ears, and he wore thick, square glasses that made him look endearingly awkward.
She knew he had loved her since they were children. With newfound determination, Iseul skipped over to him, her heart racing as she caught his gaze.
"Do you have a stable job?" she asked, her voice steady despite the fluttering in his chest.
"Y-yes," he stammered, adjusting his glasses nervously.
"Do you receive a monthly paycheck?"
"Um, yeah?" he replied, uncertainty creeping into his voice.
Iseul paused, considering her next move. Then she inched closer and said, "Then marry me."
Sunghoon felt a surge of excitement at Iseul's words; his childhood crush had finally voiced what had been a dream of his for as long as he could remember. A radiant smile spread across his face as he beamed with happiness, unable to contain the joy bubbling inside him.
