Chapter 7

I felt numb.  Everything was numb; I had been sitting in the snow crying.  It felt like hours but I knew it had only been minutes.  God I hated this, feeling numb and weak.

As the snow fell around me, I tried to wrap my head around my situation.  I was stuck out in the woods with my boyfriend, his little brother, and his father.  And I had just found out that Bradley was moving to London.  And that hurt like hell.

It hurt because he didn't tell me, it hurt that he was the only thing I had left in my life.  And now he was leaving.  Bradley was leaving to go live halfway across the world.  Just like that; the only person I had left, the only person that cared about me was going to leave.

At first I was angry and sad, but now I just felt numb.

I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that I didn't even notice Bradley right behind me until he spoke.

"Sky-," Bradley started.

I cut him off and stood up, "Don't. Just don't.  You're leaving.  And you didn't even tell me."

"I had a good reason-," he tried.

I spun around and faced my boyfriend.  I was shivering but not from the cold. "How could you ever have a good reason for keeping something like this from me? What you did was unfair, we have never kept secrets from each other."

Bradley took a step closer, "Sky please. Let me explain. It's not what you think."

"It's not what I think?! Really Bradley, you're moving to London. You're going to leave me behind, just like my dead beat dad! Just like my mother did, and you didn't even tell me," I screamed, tears falling again.

Bradley shook his head, "That's not true.  I'm not like them, I would never leave you."

"You are leaving me! You can't change that, but you damn well could have told me," I shouted at the top of my lungs.

"I was going to. I was going to tell you on your birthday," Bradley supplied, not raising his voice in the slightest.

I rolled me eyes, "Oh sure that's a great present. 'Hey Sky it's your birthday and guess what I got you? A broken heart because I'm leaving for London!"'

"No that's not what was going to happen," Bradley pleaded.

I let out a laugh, "Then how else were you going to do it."

"I was going to tell you that you're coming with me," Bradley frantically said.

I took a step back, blinking in disbelief, "What?"

Bradley then took a deep breath and started to explain, "Your birthday, it's in two weeks.  I leave at the end of the month.  When Ted told us, I refused to go without you.  So Ted put in a good word with one of his coworkers, who had also gotten the promotion: the Stevensons.  They can't have kids and they were looking to adopt someone, and they seemed to really like you.  So I was going to take you out for dinner and then when we got back to my place a surprise party was going to be waiting.  I was going to tell you and the Stevensons were going to give you the adoption papers as a gift."

Once Bradley finished I couldn't speak.  I just stared at him.  A minute went by and still no words came from my mouth.

"Look, I'm sorry Okay.  I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I'm sorry I got us stuck out here, I'm sorry I made you feel like I was leaving," Bradley rambled on and on about what he was sorry for.

A smile came onto my face and I closed the short distance between us. Bradley looked at me with his dark brown eyes.  His eyes told me he was worried and scared, and that was enough for me to close this distance between us even more.

I pressed my lips against Bradley's and wrapped my arms around the base of his neck.  In turn my boyfriend kissed me back while embracing me around my waist.  The kiss was slow and meaning full.  And with in it we both knew that everything was going to be okay, and that we were both sorry for a lot of things.

A few seconds later Bradley pulled away with a smile.  He rested our foreheads together and whispered, "Does that mean you will go?"

"Of course you dumbass.  London sounds fun," I smiled back.

Bradley let out a laugh that warmed my heart, "Well then we better head back to the car.  It's freezing out here. But be careful my dad just kinda had a melt down."

"So did I," I replied, slipping my hand into his.

Bradley intertwined our fingers and we walked back to the car.  A minute later we were sitting inside the trunk of the vehicle.

Elliot had entered the car and handing Bradley a jacket, "Look at what I found."

My boyfriend took the jacket and wrapped it around the both of us.  Then Elliot handed his two sons blankets.

Again Bradley took the blanket and placed it around us.  I looked over and gave my boyfriend a small smile.  Bradley leaned over and gave me a small kiss on the forehead.

"Ewww, that's disgusting," Caleb whined.

Bradley rolled his eyes, "Oh shut up, Caleb."

I let out a giggle and Caleb spoke again, "All I'm saying is you better not do anything while I'm asleep."

"Oh my God this again? Caleb we have been over this.  We have never had sex and we certainly aren't going to have our first time with you around," I laughed.

Bradley started to laugh as well. Caleb started to cough from embarrassment, and that sent my boyfriend and I into another fit of laughter.

Soon the laughter died down and Caleb was sound asleep.  I looked over and saw that Bradley was asleep as well, lightly snoring.  Elliot was in the drivers seat passed out.  I looked at my boyfriend once more and smiled to myself.

'Everything is going to be ok,' I thought to myself as I drifted off into sleep.
