Chapter 2

Once Elliot entered in the room he glanced at Bradley sitting next to me on the couch hand in hand.

"All right, now the party can start," their father smiled.

"This place is a lot smaller than your last place," Caleb observed while flopping on the couch next to me.

Bradley rolled his eyes, "So, uh where are we gonna sleep?"

"I figured you guys can take my bed, and I'll crash on the couch," he gave me a look that I couldn't quite place, " I guess she can share with y'all if nothing happens."

I rolled my eyes, "Don't worry I'm not that type of girl."

"He snores," Caleb complained.

"Ya well at least I don't wet the bed," Bradley shot back.

Caleb whined, "That was like three years ago and why did you have to say that in front of Skylar."

"Because I already knew about it, and if you guys don't stop complaining I'll make y'all sleep on the floor," I threatened.

Bradley laughed at my comment and then Elliot spoke up, "You're gonna figure it out. What do you want to do today?"

"Anything just not bowling again," Bradley quickly replied.

Caleb laughed, "He just doesn't want to go because he sucks."

"Shut up Caleb," Bradley warned.

I leaned over and smiled an evil grin, "He does always win and you know it."

Bradley rolled his eyes because he knew I was right. He really did suck at bowling but so did I so I could nark on him.

"You have pancakes?" Caleb questioned.

"We just ate," Bradley sighed.

Elliot gave Bradley a look, "Ya but he is a growing boy he needs to eat all the time. Now go get your stuff put away and I'll see if I can get you some pancakes, all right."

Bradley stood up and dragged me along into the bed room. Caleb followed closely behind heaving his things. We entered the small bedroom and I closed the door behind us.

We started to unpack our belongings. Bradley and I were sharing one side and Caleb had the other; that's how it usually went down when we went on vacations.

"Here, put this over there," Caleb said as he threw a pile of clothes at me.

Bradley caught the pile and launched it right back at Caleb. "No keep your crap on your side of the room," he said.

"Idiot," Caleb mumbled as he bent down to pick up his clothes.

"Well don't throw things at her, or me," Bradley shrugged. I laughed a little at his comment. He absolutely hated sharing a room with people. I was the only excuse when that occasionally happened.

Caleb didn't reply but looked at me with an expression that I couldn't gather.

"What?" I asked. Bradley turned from the closet to see what was going on.

Caleb stated to pull something out from under the bed, "Look at this Skylar."

My eyes widened in shock as Caleb pulled a gun out from under the bed.

"Holy...." Bradley gasped, "give me that."

Caleb handed over the weapon and Bradley examined it in his hands.

"What?" I asked in disbelief as a stepped right next to my boyfriend to get a better look at the gun.

It was a long brown rifle and it looked to be pretty dated. I knew a few things about guns, like how to shoot properly and all that jazz. However I never really liked guns I hated them in fact.

Bradley was still looking at the gun when Caleb tried to take it from him.

"It's loaded," Bradley observed.

Caleb tried to take it out of his hands, "give me it!"

"Hey easy, easy be careful guys," I said and I felt my heart rate increase.

Bradley refused Caleb the gun and he sat down on the bed with it. Caleb and I followed his actions.

"How do you, like, put bullets and stuff in it?" He questioned with wide eyes.

I opened my mouth to answer but was cut off when Elliot busted through the door.

"What the fuck are you doing?" He screamed as he snatched the gun out of Bradley's hands.

I jumped closer to Bradley and he put his arm around me protectively.

"Bradley...." Caleb started to say but was cut off by his brother, "No I didn't. Shut up."

"You can not play with this," Elliot barked.

Bradley turned to face his father, "Well you shouldn't have left it out then."

"I didn't. It was under the bed!" Elliot yelled.

I grabbed onto Bradley's hand and he squeezed it hard. All three of us were terrified at this man. And he seemed to notice it.

Elliot took a step back and glanced at the three of us, "I'm sorry I yelled."

"You said fuck," Caleb replied.

I shot him a look, "Caleb."

Caleb got the hint and sat on the bed next to me. A few moments of silence passed and it felt like hours.

"Either of you ever — ever shot one of these before," Elliot asked braking the silence.

Bradley and Caleb shook their head no while I shook my head yes. I have shot a gun before but like I mentioned I hated the damn things.

Elliot took in our answers before speaking again, " I was about your age when my dad taught me. What if I took you guys out?"

The three of us glanced at each other before Caleb asked, "Really?"

"Every man should know how to safely use and respect a gun," Elliot insisted.

"Mom would freak out," Bradley countered.

"No she won't, 'Cause she will never know," their father replied, "Right?"

"I don't think that's a good idea," I stated but Caleb cut me off.

"Yeah," the boy grinned.

"Yeah we could go up north to our old logging site. Get some fresh air, make a men out of you boys because little lady here has y'all beat," Elliot continued. "Ted sure as hell ain't going to," he added.

"Yeah," Caleb smiled wider.

Elliot was now smiling as well, "Is that something you would be into?"

"Yeah," Caleb repeated as he glanced at Bradley and I, "Say yes. Come on."

"Huh?" Elliot questioned looking at Bradley.

Bradley's grip on my hand tightened as he shifted on the bed uncomfortably, "uh, yeah. Sure."

Elliot didn't even wait for my answer because it wouldn't have even mattered, "All right. Okay grab your coats."

With that my boyfriend's dad walked out of the room and Caleb stood up.

"Yeah, yes!" He cheered while grabbing his coat.

"Are you sure you're okay to go. I know you hate guns so the two of us can stay here if you want," Bradley questioned with his eyes meeting mine.

I nodded my head, "I'll be fine it's not like I'm going to be the one shooting. I'll just sit in the car."

Bradley shook his head in agreement as Caleb spoke, "Come on."

Bradley and I stood up and started to put our coats on. A few minutes later we were in the car on our way to what would be the worst weekend of our lives.
