✦ ╮ 𝟒𝟖. ❝ 𝖲𝖬𝖤𝖫𝖫𝖲 𝖫𝖨𝖪𝖤 𝖳𝖤𝖤𝖭 𝖲𝖯𝖨𝖱𝖨𝖳 ❞ ── .✦

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 of Anastasia's alarm clock woke her up from her sleep, only to realize that it wasn't actually her alarm going off, but her uncle's instead.

With an aggravated groan, the green eyed girl pushed herself up from the bed and she made her way down the hallway to her own bedroom, where she could take a shower in her bathroom, brush her teeth and change for the first day of her Senior year....that she's repeated more times than she could count.

"Get ready for a day of hell and misery, Anastasia." She mumbled to herself as she looked at herself in the mirror one last time.

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

❝𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗪𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘.❞

Anastasia stood with Bonnie, Elena and Caroline in front of the high school.

"Senior year." Caroline finishes as Anastasia crosses her arms over her chest.

"Anyone else think this should feel slightly more empowering?" Asked Bonnie, hands on her hips.

"I should still be sleeping."

Caroline looks towards the three other girls, "Okay, so prank night was a bust but we are accepting it and we are moving on."

"You're right. I mean, why should I let the fact that my boyfriend is seeing the ghost of his dead girlfriend and Anna hinder this experience? Even if I've done this a couple hundred times." Anastasia shrugged.

"Yes!" Caroline exclaimed, "And why should I let the fact that my boyfriend was turned into a hybrid put a damper on an otherwise fabulous day?"

"Why should I let me having to do CPR on Matt to revive him lat night bother me?" Bonnie shrugged her shoulders.

Elena stops walking, "Today is our anniversary. Technically, Stefan and I met on the first day of school last year.'

"Yeah, you win."

"Are we sure you wanna be here?" Bonnie asked the doppelganger.

"I have to be here." Elena tells them, "I have to put it behind me. New year, new life."

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗢𝗗 front of her opened locker.

"So what?" Jeremy's voice makes her turn her head to the left where he was leaning on the locker next to hers. "It's not cool to talk to Juniors anymore?"

"Hey. Bye." She slams the locker door closed and begins to walk away but Jeremy pulls her to a stop.

"You're mad."

"I'm not mad." She shrugs her shoulders as she looks up at her boyfriend while crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm so happy with the fact that I'm sharing my relationship with Anna and Vicki."

"I haven't talked to Vicki in a while."

"That's not the point, Jeremy." Anastasia scoffed as she moved around him to walk down the hallway.

"I know that. I know, okay?" He follows behind her, "But I had to see Anna again, Stacie! She had information that your dad needed."

"I get it, Jeremy. But you keep letting them back in, every single time."

"You think I want any of this? To be fighting with you over all of it?"

"You want to know what the hell I think, Jeremy?" She asked him, "I think you have the power to decide whether or not you see them. You remember that. okay? Now, I need to go find Tyler."

"I love you." The teenager tells his girlfriend, watching as she gives him a silent smile before walking away.

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

❝𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢, 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗔.❞ 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗙𝗔𝗡 bumps into the Doppelganger as she walks out of the men's bathroom where Tyler and Caroline were currently at.

"What are you doing here?"

"What do you mean? I'm going back to school." Stefan tells her, "Go Timberwolves!"

"What? Why?"

"Klaus wants me to keep an eye on you. I'm just doing what I'm told." He says.

"I'm going to be late for class." Elena states, going to move around the vampire but he grabs her by the arm.

"Oh, class is this way."

"Let go of me, Stefan."

Stefan turns towards her, her arm still in his grip, "Elena, do you think I want to be a Senior for the 100th time? No. But if I don't have a choice in the matter, then neither do you."

"I said let go of me." Elena says just as Anastasia and Alaric come around the corner.

"Let her go." Alaric demands just best Stefan pushes him up against the lockers, teens in the hallways looking towards them.

"Stefan, stop it." Elena hisses quietly.

"You're not gonna want to get in my way." Stefan tells him.

"Uncle Stefan, let go of him." Anastasia grabs her uncle by his bicep as the looks down at her, his eyes going soft for just a slip second.

"I will see you both in history." Stefan lets go of the teacher, leaning down to place a kiss on the crown of his niece's head before he walks away.

"How did you do that?" Alaric questions the teenage girl.

"Because, he may have his switch flipped around you guys, but he could never hurt me. Flipped switch or not." Anastasia tells them before she walks away.

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗔 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗞𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗢 Alaric's classroom as the bell rings, Tyler's arm thrown over her shoulder as the two joked around with each other, both of them taking their usual seats next to each other in the back.

"Welcome back, Seniors. Let's turn our brains back on, starting with this country's original founders...the Native Americans." Alaric says as he turns around to face his class.

"What about the Vikings?" Rebekah asks as she walks into the classroom.

"You have got to be fucking kidding me?!" Anastasia groans as she moves to slam her head down onto the top of her desk, but Tyler is quick to bring his hand up to catch her by the forehead.

"Let's not ruin that pretty face on the first day of school." Tyler jokes with her as she playfully glares at him, the newly turned hybrid shooting her a wink.

"There's no evidence that Viking explorers actually settled in the United States." Alaric tells the blonde as she sits in front of Elena and Caroline. "Who are you?"

"My names Rebekah. I'm new. And history's my favorite subject." Rebekah tells him, a smile on her face.

"Her favorite subject is history because that's exactly what she is." Anastasia spoke up, causing the blonde and a few others to turn and look at her. The green eyed girl sends the original vampire a smirk, "How was your wooden box, Bex? Maybe you should go back to it."

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

❝𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 come back?" Anastasia walks the track outside, the others running around her, as she talks on her phone.

Dylan laughs on the other end, "No, thank you. I was involved in way too much in Mystic Falls. How are things there?"

"Well, since you've left, Klaus came back to town, compelled Uncle Stefan to flip his switch, Jeremy is still seeing dead people, and Tyler is now a werewolf and a vampire thanks to Klaus." She tells him, "Oh! And let's not forget that I was just informed by my father that Rebekah decided on her own free wheel that she was staying at the house with us."

"Ooh, yeah, now I really don't want to come back to Mystic Falls. New York is all that I need and more." Dylan tells her, "But if you ever need the time to just get away from it all, then shoot me a text. I'll drop everything to make sure you get the full experience."

Anastasia sighs as she looks around, "I might just take you up on that offer one of these days."

"Looking forward to it."

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

❝𝗜'𝗟𝗟 𝗟𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗙𝗔𝗡 away from the bonfire. Then when he's distracted....,❞

"I'll shoot him." Alaric says as he, Damon, Anastasia, and Caroline stood in the empty classroom.

"Can't Bonnie just ju-ju him or something? Eloise won't do it because he's her uncle." Damon says, motioning towards his daughter, who in return sends him a sarcastic smile while holding her middle finger up in the air for him to see.

"I'm trying to keep Bonnie out of this. I don't trust that Stefan won't hurt her." Elena said, "Caroline, are you covered?"

"Yes! I will make sure that the old Forbes jail cell is prepped and ready." Caroline tells her.

"We're forgetting a key player here. Rebekah? Wherever Stefan goes, the blonde ponytail tends to follow."

"Which is why we're making it your job to keep her way." Anastasia tells her dad, "I would do it, but there's no guarantee that I won't throw her head first into the fire pit."

"How?! She's an original." Damon states, "Last time I checked, we're out of daggers."

"So then preoccupy her with your charm." Elena tells him. f

"Might have better luck finding the dagger." Alaric said.

"Are you ever not going to be mad at me for a day?" Damon asks the history teacher.

"Doubtful."

"Sorry, I'm late. You, I've been looking everywhere for." Tyler walks into the classroom, and points at Anastasia, "What's going on?"

"We need you to raid your mom's vervain supply." Elena turns to him, "Enough to keep Stefan down for a while."

"You can't do that to Stefan." Tyler tells them.

"Why not?" Questioned Caroline.

"Trust me, Tyler, it's in his best interest." Elena says to the hybrid.

"Yeah. It's not in Klaus'."

"But Klaus is the bad guy, Tyler. You know, why are you acting like some freaky, hybrid, slave minion."

"Uh-oh." Damon looks suspiciously at Tyler before sharing a look with his daughter.

"What?" Alaric asks.

"Klaus made me who I am, Caroline." Tyler tells his girlfriend, "I owe him everything."

"Oh, boy." Anastasia comments this time.

"Okay, can we cool it on the commentary, please?" Caroline asked the father/daughter duo.

"What is going on?" Elena looks between the two of them as Damon takes on of the darts off of the table.

"I'm just going to go. You coming?" He looks towards Anastasia before tuning to walk out of the door, but before he can make it out of the room, Damon rushes behind him and injects him with the vervain dart, and Tyler collapses to the ground.

"What are you doing??!" Caroline exclaims as she rushes to her boyfriends side.

"He's been sired." Damon tells them.

"What?"

"Sired." Anastasia looks at them, "He feels loyal to Nik because Nik's blood created him."

"Loyal how?"

"He'll seek acceptance from his master. It's really rare." Damon tells them, "But maybe not so much in hybrids."

"So how do I fix him?" Caroline asked, looking towards Anastasia with the hopes that she tells her what to do.

"Get a new boyfriend."

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

❝𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞 to Anna about this already?❞ Anastasia walked down the hallway with her boyfriend, wanting nothing more than to be outside with the others, Bonnie following the two of them.

"She's on the other side, babe. Okay. I think she might know something." Jeremy tells her.

"About what? They're supposed to be alone on the other side." Anastasia tells them.

"Somehow Vicki's been communicating with some super strong witch." Jeremy tells the two witches.

"If there's another witch involved, don't you think you should have come to us before you went to Anna?" Bonnie asked him.

Anna suddenly appears next to Jeremy, though the witches can't see her. "Tell them not to be upset. I was just trying to help."

"Not now, Anna."

Anastasia rolled her eyes with a scoff, "She's here?"

"She's just trying to help!"

"I can't deal with this." She throws her hands up, "Bonnie can help you and Anna all you want, but I'm done. There's a bonfire and cheap beer calling my name."

"Anastasia!"

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

❝𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗜𝗧 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗬 on the beer, niece.❞ Stefan walks up behind his niece as she downed another beer. "What's got you so worked up?"

"Hmm, I don't know. My uncle doesn't have his emotions on? My best friend is sired to Klaus? Oh, no, it's neither of those things." Anastasia tells him, "It's just the fact that my boyfriend is seeing the dead ghost of an obsessed vampire, and he talks to her more than he's talking to me. And let's not forget that someone, who I thought was my best friend, is actually crushing on my boyfriend."

"Jeez, you really do need to drink more of those." Stefan tells her, handing her the full cup that was in his hand. "Or dump the boyfriend."

Anastasia glares at him.

"I was just kidding."

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

❝𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧'𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞?❞ Stefan walks up behind Elena as she watches Damon and Rebekah.

Elena sighs, "What look?"

"My brother's got his flirt on, and you're jealous." Stefan tells her.

"I'm not jealous."

"It's all right. Be jealous by all means." Stefan said, "I'm sure Damon will be thrilled."

"I'm not jealous, Stefan."

"All right. My mistake."

"Whatever. I'm out of here." Elena finishes off the rest of her drink before leaving, Stefan following behind her.

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗔 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗞𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗦 the parking lot of the high school, looking for her car as she texted her Dad that she was bailing and going home.

"Anastasia!"

The Salvatore girl looks up from her phone in confusion before she notices that Alaric is standing next to his car which was on fire, frantically trying to break the window.

"Holy shit!" The hybrid quickly uses her vampire speed to appear next to the History teacher as she casts a silent spell as she tries to help him break the glass.

"Use your magic to get her out of there!"

"I'm trying, but it isn't working!"

Elena coughs as she can't breathe, turning her head to the trunk of the car where Stefan laid, "Stefan!"

The vampire wakes up just as Elena almost collapses, breaking the trunk door off with his feet. Elena makes her way to the back of the car with Stefan, trying to get out.

Alaric rushes to the back with Anastasia, moving to help Elena get out of the trunk, "Hurry up before it blows!"

"Wait!, Wait, wait, wait!" Elena grabs Stefan, and Alaric helps the doppelganger get the vampire out of the car.

"Anastasia!" Stefan reaches for his niece, using his own body to shield hers as the car explodes.

𑁍˚⸝⸝ --

𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 corner of her bedroom, Anastasia holds an old photo between her fingers, smiling softly at the two people that looked super happy together in the photo, "You always did know what to say to me in order to make me feel better. I wish you were here to tell me what to do, cause I need your advice more than ever."

In the opposite chair, a male figure smiles softly at the girl across from him, "Don't you worry your pretty little head, Darling. Soon we will be reunited."

as I've published a couple of new books since I last updated
this book, but finally here is a new chapter!
