𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗔 𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 in her bed, eyes still closed as if the world around her would disappear if she kept them that way. But the presence of someone laying next to her in the bed made her slowly open them.

"There's those pretty green eyes, I've missed."

With a gasp, she sat up quickly in her bed, looking around only to find that she was alone, "It's official. I think I'm going crazy."

"Nope, not crazy." The same voice spoke from its place in the chair next to the large window.

The Salvatore girl turns her head to find a familiar face, one that was supposed to be dead, in her bedroom, arms resting behind his head as his feet were kicked up on the table separating the two chairs.

Warm green eyes starred right back into more green eyes, the black haired boy wearing the same goofy smile that she had always kept locked away in her memories.

"Dylan." She breaths out as he stands up and walks towards her, "How - How is this - you're dead. I watched Dad kill you."

Dylan shrugs, "Your dad missed my heart. I woke up a few days later with a witch standing over my body. I - I looked for you after, but everyone that we knew said that you fled after you thought I was dead. I looked for a couple of year, but when I couldn't find you, I - I gave up."

Anastasia lets out a laugh, "I'm going fucking crazy. You're dead. I watched you die! You're body turned grey!"

Suddenly, she was pulled into his body, hands gripping her face tightly, "Do I feel dead?"

"Wait - How did you get inside?" Anastasia asked, pulling away from him and going to her closet so that she could get clothes to change into. "You're a vampire, and we signed the house over to-,"

"Elena?" Dylan raised an eyebrow as he jumped onto her messy bed, propping his chin up on the palm of his hand, "It wasn't really hard to convince her that I'm a friend of yours that I haven't seen in a couple of years."

"Yeah, she's not the smartest." Anastasia rolled her eyes, "Just - Just stay in this room until I get out of the shower."

"You got it."

彡☆

DAMON REMOVED all the notes, maps and newspaper cutting from his closet as he listened to the news on the TV.

"Whether suicide, or a tragic accident, WPKW News has lost one of its shining stars. Field reporter and weekend anchor Andie Star was discovered.....,"

Elena appears in the doorway.

"Just can't stay away, can you?" Damon asked her.

"You and Anastasia have been dodging my calls." Elena tells him.

"Yeah, well, busy dating a dead fake girlfriend and all." Damon says, "And as for my daughter? She's going through her own messy relationship with your brother."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Happy Birthday, Elena. Stefan killed Andie and my daughter is currently in a complicated relationship now. Cake?" He says sarcastically as he walks away.

"He called me, Damon."

"What?" He turns around to look at her.

"Stefan called me last night."

"Well, what'd he say?"

"He didn't say anything, but it was him." Elena said, "I asked Sheriff Forbes if she would trace the call's origin. It came from Tennessee."

"Where he's binge drinking on country folk." Damon said, "We went through this Elena. Stefan's gone. I don't mean geographically." He throws the papers into his fire place.

"If he was gone, he wouldn't have called." Stated Elena.

Damon lights a match and throws it into the fire place.

"Uh, Dad?" Anastasia's voice caused both him and Elena to turn around, "We kind of have a guest."

Damon gives his daughter a confused look, before a look of shock replaced it as he stared at the boy standing next to his daughter, "You were dead. I killed you."

"Yeah, I've already been through this with Ana."

彡☆

"WAIT. WHO is this again?" Tyler asked, pointing at the boy next to his female best friend as he sat across from her and the unknown boy with Elena sitting next to him.

"Don't worry about him." Anastasia brushes off his questioned, "Just - pretend he's not even here."

"Hey! That's extremely rude!" Dylan places a hand over his chest.

"Other side." Anastasia sighed, bringing her hand up to rub her temples.

"Okay....," Tyler trails off, "A lot of us like to keep to ourselves for the full moon, chain ourselves up. But there are some werewolves that like to gather in places where they don't have to do that, where they can enjoy it."

"What kind of places?"

"Mountains, state parks, deserts, that kind of stuff." Anastasia answered.

"Anywhere in Tennessee?"

"Yeah. Here. Give me your phone. I'll try to pull up a map." Tyler tells her and takes the phone that Elena passes to him.

"Thanks for this. I know it's asking a lot." Elena tells him.

"As Caroline likes to remind me, Stefan's in this mess because I bit Damon. I figure I owe you one. Have you talked to her today?" Tyler asked.

"Nope. I've been dealing with this all morning." Anastasia sighed, motioning to Dylan who gave Tyler a happy wave.

"No. Why?"

"Just curious." He tells her before handing the phone back, "Here. That's your best bet."

"Thank you." Anastasia grinned, leaning over to kiss his cheek, "By the way, I know you left the party with Caroline last night and that's why you're asking."

Tyler smirked, "Nothing ever gets by you, does it?"

"Hmm, not really."

"Did you get anything?" Alaric asked as the three walked over to the bar where he was at.

"How do you feel about a little hike through the Smoky Mountains?"

"You wanna hunt down a pack of werewolves on a full moon?" Questioned Alaric.

"We'll be out of there before the moon if full." Elena said, "If you don't come with me, I'm going by myself. What? You're the one who told me that I could handle things on my own."

"Yeah, I meant like frozen dinners and SATs." Alaric says, "A - Alright, fine. Let's just...let's go. But, uh, you're driving."

彡☆

"WAS THIS really a good idea?" Dylan whispered to Anastasia as they followed behind Elena and Alaric.

"Nope. But I've learned that when it comes to letting Elena run things, nothing she has is a good idea." She tells him with a roll of her eyes

"Did you-,"

"Call my dad and tell him where we were at so that he could follow us? Yes, yes, I did."

"Good call."

"In a couple hours, the full moon's gonna rise just above that ridge. If Tyler's right, that's where the pack'll be." Alaric tells Elena.

"You were a boy scout, weren't you?" Anastasia smirked.

"Shut up." He laughs.

"A boy scout, slash vampire slayer?" Elena asked him.

"Slash whiskey-drinking all around lost cause." Alaric says as the four come to a stop as he opens his backpack to see all the weapons he brought.

"Wow, you can stocked."

"Well, we aren't exactly bird-watching. Here. Put this in your bag." Alaric tells her, handing the Gilbert girl a grenade.

"Vervain grenade?"

"Wolfsbane."

"Well, since we're exchanging gifts....," She shows him John's magical ring.

"That's John Gilbert's ring." Alaric states.

"It was yours once. Go ahead. Take it." Elena tells him, "I'll protect you from whatever Supernatural danger we're about to get ourselves into."

"He gave it to you."

"Yeah, but I'm a doppelganger. It's not gonna work on me." Elena said, "He left it for if I ever have kids."

"Yeah, well, then why don't you save it for future generations of stubborn, relentless baby Gilberts?" Alaric asked her.

"Okay, and how 'bout you borrow it until after we survive this? I'd feel bad if I got you killed before happy hour." Elena says before Alaric takes the ring from her and she gets closer to the water, "I don't know why you think that you're a lost cause."

Damon appears out of nowhere and shoves Elena into the water, causing her to scream as Alaric holds up his crossbow.

Anastasia crosses her arms over her chest with a smirk on her face while Dylan had to bring a hand up to his mouth in order to stop the laughter bubbling in his chest to stay inside, and Damon leans against a tree with a smirk on his face.

"Damon! How are you even here?" Elena asked in disbelief as she brings her arms up out of the water.

"Thanks for the tip, daughter of mine." Damon looks back at his daughter.

Elena looks over at Anastasia, "You sold me out!"

"Actually, I told her to call him." Alaric says, "You think I'd take you to a mountain range of werewolves on a full moon without backup?"

彡☆

"GET OUT of the water, Elena." Damon tells the stubborn Gilbert girl, who was still in the water.

"If I get out of the water, you're gonna make me go home." Elena tells him.

"No shit." Dylan says crossing his arms as he looked around. "Who said that?"

"You're an idiot." Anastasia laughs.

"Yes, because I'm not an idiot like you." Damon tells her, ignoring what was happening behind him with his daughter and her dead-not so dead-ex-boyfriend.

"Right now, you're both acting like idiots." Alaric tells them, "All four of you, actually, are acting like idiots."

"You gave up on him, Damon."

"I didn't give up on him, Elena." Damon tells her, "I faced reality. Now get out of the water."

"No."

"What's your big plan, Elena? Huh? you gonna walk through a campsite full of werewolves, roast a marshmallow, and wait for Stefan to stop by?" Damon asked as he jumped down and made his way into the water.

"My plan is to find him and help him. Damon, this is the closest that we've been to him since he left. I'm not going home." Elena tells him.

"Klaus thinks you died when he broke the curse. That makes you safe." Damon tells her, "This, this is not safe."

"I'm not leaving before we find him."

"It's a full moon tonight, Elena."

"Then we'll find him before then. Damon, please."

"Watch him fall into her trap." Anastasia mumbles to Dylan.

"Are they in love with each other?"

"Hmm, Elena denies her love for my dad, but anyone can clearly see that Katherine Pierce is happening all over again for them."

"Okay. Okay. But we are out of here before the full moon and the three of us are werewolf bait." Damon points between him, his daughter and Daniel.

"I promise."

"Unless you wanna relieve that whole deathbed kissy thing."

"I said I promise."

"Fine."

"Great, can we go try and find Uncle Stefan now?" Anastasia called, turning on the heels of her converse and walking away from the group.

彡☆

"WE GOT about a mile left." Alaric says as they five were still walking through the woods, the sun setting.

"The sun's about to set." Damon tells them.

"I can see that, Damon."

"I'm just saying."

"The moon doesn't reach its apex for a while. We have time." Elena tells them before they hear the sound of twigs snapping as Ray staggers out of the woods, Alaric pointing his crossbow at him while Dylan moves to stand in front of Anastasia for protection.

"Stay where you are!"

"Vampire."

Ray rushes over to Damon and they begin to fight. He pushes Damon against a tree and tries biting him when Anastasia races over and pulls him off of her father, Ray now turning towards her as she's pinned up against the tree.

Alaric shoots an arrow at him but Ray is now trying to bit Anastasia.

Elena grabs the wolfsbane grenade from her bag and pulls the pin from it, "Stacie!" She throws the grenade towards the hybrid, and she catches it making it explode in Ray's face while Damon kicks him in the stomach and Ray lays unconscious.

"Let me guess. Hybrid." Alaric says.

彡☆

"THOSE ROPES aren't gonna hold him much longer." Damon tells them as he and Alaric tie Ray up to a tree while Dylan makes sure that Anastasia wasn't bitten anywhere.

"I'm fine! I'm fine!"

"What else do we have?"

"Ric, here. Take these." Elena holds out some rope, but Damon grabs them instead.

"I said Ric."

Alaric takes the ropes and puts them around Ray, "Alright, that's the last of the vervain. We don't have enough stuff to hold him. I don't think we're gonna make that Ridge before the full moon."

"If we can get him to talk, we don't have to." Elena reaches out her hand to touch Ray, but just before her hand touches him, Ray wakes up and screams as the transformation begins.

"Is he turning?" Asked Damon.

"It's impossible. It's still daylight." Elena said.

"Well, tell him that." Dylan says, motioning towards the new hybrid.

Damon gets closer to Ray and holds his shoulders.

"There aren't supposed to be werewolves out here until the moon is full." Elena said.

"You know, those ropes aren't gonna hold the wolf." Alaric says.

"Oh, my ass should've stayed in New York." The Munson boy said with a shake of his head.

Ray screams as his bones shift.

"Damon, we've got to get out of here. We gotta get out of these mountains now! Damon now!" Elena says before they all run off.

彡☆

"GOD DAMMIT!" Anastasia curses as she trips over Elena, both girls now on the ground. "This is why I told you to just forget about Uncle Stefan!"

"Don't move." Damon tells both girls.

Both look up, gasping as a werewolf is staring right back at them.

"Shit." Anastasia curses once more, "Here, doggie, doggie."

"Why the hell is she so stubborn?" Damon cursed before following off after his daughter.

"Come on. Let's keep moving." Alaric tells Elena as she gets up from the ground.

"We can't leave Damon or Anastasia." Elena tells the history teacher.

"They can handle themselves." Dylan says, though he was worried for his ex-girlfriend.

"Let's move."

"No. If they get bitten, they'll be dead." Elena said, "I'm the reason both of them are out here."

"I am the reason they're out here. I told her to tell him where we were, and I'm telling you to keep moving. Let's go, Elena, now!"

彡☆

"WHY THE hell did you just run off like that?" Damon scolds his daughter as they both walk warily through the woods.

"Oh, excuse me for trying to protect your precious Elena!" Anastasia hissed just before Ray rushes at them in his human for and they all struggle for a bit before Stefan appears behind Ray and rips his heart out through his back.

"Fancy meeting you here." Damon tells his brother.

"Uncle Stefan!" Anastasia exclaimed happily as she runs into his arms.

"Hey, kiddo." Stefan sighed, wrapping his arms around his niece and kissing the top of her head before he looks up at his brother, "What part of "don't follow me anymore" got lost in translation, Damon?"

"Might want to take it up with your girlfriend." Damon said to him, "You don't want her chasing you. I'd stop with the late-night phone calls."

"I didn't call her." Stefan said, "I only called Eloise."

"Sure you did. She's not gonna give up on you."

"She had to. Because I'm never coming back. Why don't you get her home? See if you can keep her there this time."

彡☆

DYLAN PACED next to the car as Elena and Alaric sat inside.

"Stefan's out there somewhere and now Damon and Stacie, and we're just sitting in this car?"

"Let the vampires fight the hybrid zombie mountain man. I'll take care of keeping the humans safe." Alaric tells her.

"I thought you were checked out of taking care of people."

"I know what you're doing. Don't. There doesn't need to be a lesson here." Alaric said.

"You're better at it than you think, you know?"

"Oh, boy, are you a sucker for a lost cause or what?"

"You're not a lost cause, Ric." Elena says, "You're just lost But so is Jeremy, and so am I. Our family is gone. We don't have anybody. I'm sorry, but you don't have anybody either, so...we're kind of good for each other."

"I'm keeping the ring, then."

"Damon?"

Elena gets out of the car as both Salvatore's walk towards it.

"Oh, don't you ever do that stupid shit again!" Dylan exclaimed, wrapping his arms around Anastasia's neck as he pulls her into a hug.

"Are you okay? Did you...?"

"Fine, bite-free. Get back in the car." Damon tells her, "Eloise, Dylan, let's go."

"Can you just give me a minute to appreciate that neither of you are dead?" Elena asked him.

"What happened?" Dylan asked her.

"We saw Uncle Stefan." Anastasia whispered in his chest, low enough that Elena and Alaric didn't hear them.

"I'll give you ten seconds. Nine, eight..." He grabs her by the shoulders and marches her towards the car, "Hey, Ric, did you happen to see where I parked my car?"

"Damon, stop being such a caveman."

From above Stefan watches from afar, keeping a close eye on his niece, happy to know that Dylan had gotten his message to go and make sure that she would be okay with him gone.

彡☆

"HOW ARE you feeling?" Dylan asked as the Salvatore girl came out of her bathroom, towel drying her hair.

"What are you doing here? In Mystic Falls?" Anastasia asked, throwing her towel to the side and crossing her arms over her chest as she stood in front of him.

"What are-,"

"After all this time of me believing that you were dead, why did you choose now to come back into my life?" Anastasia asked him.

Dylan looks up at her through his lashes, with a sigh, "Stefan knew that I was alive. I ran into him a few years ago. You weren't with him. So when he left with Klaus, he called and asked if I would come to Mystic Falls to make sure you would be okay.....with him being gone."

Anastasia surprises him by wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him into a hug, "Thank you."

"I'll always come back to you." Dylan whispers as he hugs her tightly to his chest.

AUTHORS NOTE‼️

Surprise! Yes, I've brought back the dead ex of Anastasia's that isn't really dead! How do we like him? Should he stay? Should he leave when Stefan comes back?

Dylan Munson is played by Dylan O'Brien! His name was originally Daniel so if you see that name, I missed it while I was changing his name throughout this chapter.
