title ; pretty pink bandaid

act one ; twilight

Isla scrambled out of bed. Her fluffy, messy, bird's nest of dirty blond hair was everywhere. There was even a glob of dried drool in the corner of her mouth. The seventeen-year-old grabbed a handful of clean clothes and rushed into the bathroom where she would do her morning routine. Like when she would spend good something minutes brushing her teeth all well making a mess trying to get dressed.

Stripping from her pyjamas she slipped into the hot shower. A hot shower that calmed all her nerves. Which helped Isla's nerves for her school day, she was nervous to see Alice, that's for sure.

The teenager stepped out of the shower, making sure to turn it off too. She wrapped a towel around her body before she started to brush her teeth and wash her face. Isla almost forgot to brush her hair, thinking she could just hide the bird's nest in a hat. (she knew that wouldn't work.)

Her tangled hair continued to catch between the bristles of the brush. That caused her to pull even harder as she brushed her hair. — was it even brushing? it seemed to be more a game of tug-o-war.

Isla got dressed in the outfit she had gathered well running out of her room. It was a simple hoodie and jeans, something she hoped wouldn't draw an insane amount of attention. Maybe it would draw Alice's attention to her though, but Isla didn't seem to mind.

She barrelled out of the bathroom and down the hall towards the staircase. Her feet make a thumping sound with every step. She took the first few steps carefully, but once her grandma called her she skipped a few, causing the girl to skip the last five steps or so.

Isla fell forward. The teenager shot her hands out to stabilize her fall but ended up still hitting her head against the floor anyways. Clumsy, right? Just above her right eyebrow was a small cut that puddled blood.

She also wasn't sure how she had a slightly bruised eye, but again, she was questioning herself that she had fallen off her bed in the middle of the night and then just gotten back in — but she wouldn't know for sure.

And she even had her hand bandaged, from when she had some questionable thoughts at three-thirty in the morning the night before.

She felt nothing but a slight sting, also knowing she's had worse accidents than this. Her grandparents weren't too concerned nor worried since this happened all the time. Isla's grandfather, Mark, handed her a washcloth to clean her face. Isla grabbed her beanie off the kitchen table and placed it on her head, just before grabbing her backpack and leaving the house.

Isla was still new, and everyone fawned after her. Not that she paid attention to that. Her attention was on her grades, family, Alice, and not much else. Maybe the bumps and bruises that covered her from head to toe.

But still, being new, meant people stared. No one knew her truly, which caused even more people to stare. It was a great excuse for the students of forks high to stare and whisper behind her back.

When Isla's grandparents dropped her off and she jumped out of their car and started to walk into the school and towards her first class. She bet that the thoughts everyone was thinking were about herself. Some good, some bad. And some probably even ranging from how she looked—which was dead. Maybe she got so many stares because she was friends with Alice Cullen, or because no one knew why she moved here to forks.

They weren't just staring at her though today, they were staring at Bella Swan too.

Bella Swan, a student who had lived in forks when she was much younger, but moved away, only to start today.

Isla seemed to notice how nervous the girl across the parking lot was under everyone's stares. She could tell the girl was looking for someone. But Isla wasn't sure.

It was like something snapped in the dirty blond-haired girl's mind the longer she left her eyes on the brown-haired girl outside of the school. Isla could tell whoever the new girl was needed a friend.

Isla pulled their body across the parking lot towards the new girl. "Hi. I'm Isla." Bella just wanted to reach out and hug the human. It was her overwhelming awkwardness was acting up that made her want to crumble because someone had come up to her—most likely seeing she needed a friend.

"I'm Bella. Bella Swan." She held her hand out for a handshake, which Isla returned. The two knew they would be good friends, maybe because they were both clumsy as hell, and clumsy people stick together.

Isla pulled Bella into the main school hall and towards the office where the new student received her schedule and anything else she needed. Bella was given a few slips of paper to have signed by the teachers, supporting that she had shown up to her classes. Isla thought that was stupid.

Isla walked into her health class after having dropped Bella off at her class, her class had been moved into morning instead of after lunch. The health teacher gave her a look, maybe it was you look like you were hit by a truck, or maybe even I don't wanna know, kinda look, but didn't say anything and singled for her to go sit down.

She went and sat down beside Alice, her health partner? Maybe sitting buddy? When she and everything was placed at the desk she leaned to the side and started to talk with the pixie-like girl. "Hi. What are we doing?" Isla whispered.

Alice turned her head slightly to reply but went into a frenzy when she saw the girl's body. "W-what happened to you? Are you okay? Do you need anything?" Alice rushed out.

"I'm okay, I'm fine," Isla said, placing a hand on Alice's colder arm, which truly made the vampire's dead heartbeat again.

A small chuckle left the human lips as she focused on the girl's reactions. Alice seemed to calm down before she reached into a bag and passed the clumsy girl a bandaid. "For your cut." Isla just smiled.

Alice wasn't sure how she was able to withstand Isla's blood, but she did and she was damn proud of herself for it.

Once health was over, Alice walked the human to her gym class. Thanking Alice, Isla made her way into the gym and headed towards the other students who were getting ready for the dodge ball game.

Isla bounced on the balls of her feet as she threw the ball, missing everyone. Emmett, the big buff vampire couldn't help but let out a laugh every time she managed to hit someone—because truthfully, she wasn't aiming at all. Let's just say by the time the class had ended, Isla still want a pro dodgeball player.

Alice Cullen was already sitting down in her new biology seat when Isla entered. She was a few minutes late because she couldn't find the classroom, even though she knew where it was. Isla was just like that.

She walked into the classroom and took notice of the girl who was sitting in what was supposed to be an empty spot beside her.

Isla walked forward and sat down beside the Cullen girl. She watched as she shifted herself so she could face the girl. "Hi!" Alice beamed in a whisper.

The vampire spotted the fresh cut on her head that was now covered by a pretty pink bandaid, that made Isla look like a five-year-old. It didn't help that her hair had been put into two low pigtail braids.

"Hi," Isla said back, her eyes darting back and forth between Alice and the board.

"How was your day?" Alice asked like she didn't know (she did, she had seen it).

"It was good, and yours?" Isla's voice lowered when she saw that the teacher had looked towards the two.

Alice didn't reply, which made Isla snap her head towards the vampire.

Alice Cullen was having a vision, and it looked like she was asleep. She had trained herself a tiny bit to make it look like she was asleep so Isla wouldn't ask questions. But Isla was more worried about the pixie-like girl, who was so bubbly and alive, falling asleep next to her to even notice that it wasn't even real.
