The following morning the plan was set into motion. Josie, Courtney and Pat went through the river entrance while Rick, Yolanda, Justin and Melaina went through the entrance in Cindy's old house. Diana, Barbara and Beth went to the American dream building.

That same morning Diana had dug up something she hadn't used in years nor had she given it to Melaina. She had taken her old lasso as a weapon incase there was any trouble.

Beth asked on the ear piece if we could hear her and both ends responded and confirmed.

"Guys I found some kind of count down. I think we have 35 minutes before they turn it on. Whatever they're going to make people believe in they call it the new Constitution. They want to combat... global warming?" Beth paused sounding confused in the last bit. "Oh wait they want to force people to..."

"Force people to what?" Courtney asked the girl.

"Force them to embrace solar and wind power, they're going to eliminate discrimination over race, religion and sexual orientation." Beth continued.

"Your kidding me." Rick scoffed.

"Oh and Universal Healthcare." Beth finished.

"That sounds good. Is that not good?" Josie asked in concern.

"Hey Pat, are you sure we're on te right side?" Rick asked the older man, these things that the ISA were planning sounded rather good.

"Theres gotta be something else." Pat insisted.

"No Mr Dugan. All it says is that once the machine broadcasts, the process will take 30 minutes. If we don't stop them before then its permanent. Oh here's more. It only affects fully developed minds." Beth read to her team on their ear pieces.

"What does that mean?" Yolanda asked the girl.

"Adults." Barbara and Diana answered.

"A catch? Oh no." Beth spoke in a worrying tone.

"What's wrong?" Melaina asked.

"There are people that will fight to hard against the reprogramming process."

"What happens to them?" Melaina questioned.

"Their brains will shut down. They'll die."

"How many?" Yolanda asked as the four walked through the tunnels.

" 25% of their target audience. Of 100 million."

"They're going to kill 25 million people?!" Courtney exclaimed.

"Give or take a few million years." A voice said that they couldn't recognize. "Good morning everyone. You may be wondering what just happened? So allow me to elucidate. I just hacked into your hack of our hack young lady. And with whom do I have the pleasure speaking?" The voice said who Melaina had a gut feeling about.

"Damn it... I think its the gambler." Melaina whispered to the group she was with.

"I... um..." Beth mumbled.

"She's Dr Mid-nite." Chuck answered for the girl.

"Is that so?"

"Guys... I don't know what to do."

"Child there's nothing to do."

"Guys we only have 30 minutes before they broadcast."

"You think you have 30 minutes to stop us from broadcasting?" Thr Gambler scoffed sounding amused before letting out a laugh. "The broadcast doesn't start at the 30 minute mark. Its 30 minutes until Brainwave is finished."

Melaina then looked behind her and saw Justin frozen in place. Her and Rick tried calling to him but nothing worked.

"Pat what do we do?" Courtney asked as her and Josie turned to the huge robot only to get no response.

But then the gears moved and its right hand clenched into a fist.

"Pat?" Josie called to him as she put her arm infront of Courtney protectively.

That was until he tried to punch the two girls but they quickly dodged and started running through the tunnels with Pat on their tail.

They stopped at a turn and Courtney rose up her staff as Josie's fists clenched and were surrounded by purple energy.

"Pat! It's me! Its Courtney, your daughter!" The girl pleaded as the fist of S.T.R.I.P.E froze in the air. "Ever since we came to Blue Valley, you've been there for me, every time I needed you. I need you now Pat. I really, really need you." Courtney continued as Josie could tell that Pat was fighting the brainwashing.

Meanwhile with the rest of the JSA in the tunnels trying to help Justin.

"What's wrong with him?" Yolanda asked.

"Brainwave's got him." Rick answered

"Remember Justin, you a re the Silent Knight." Yolanda said confidently.

"The Shinning Knight!" Rick corrected the girl.

"Beth, Pat is fighting Brainwaves control." Courtney said.

"What! No, that could kill him Court." Beth responded

"Beth we could really use the backup." Melaina pleaded.

"I know, I know I hear you guys."

"Wait you hear them." Diana said in realization which confused the teens on the other side of the ear pieces.

"Mom how are you talking right now?" Melaina asked the woman.

"We're not human remember?" Dianq responded to the girl. " Beth you said that when you were under Cindy's house you couldn't hear anyone right." Diana asked the girl.

"We can check if there are any signal blockers down there. Like the ear pieces down in the tunnels. Nice thinking Mrs Dumont" Beth suggested.

They just had an idea and now Beth and Chuck were hacking into the Gamblers bank accounts and were draining them of every single cent.

Josie and Courtney stood infront of S.T.R.I.P.E, hoping that Beth and Diana's idea worked.

"Courtney." Pat called."I'm sorry."

"Its okay. Come on let's get to the machine." Courtney said.

"Courtney. I heard you, every word." Pat confirmed making Josie smile sheepishly.

"I meant every word, let's go." Courtney assured before they turned the corner and proceeding.

"Is he back to normal?" Melaina asked as they watched the man.

"Proceed to slay the dragon." Justin said as he pulled out his sword and held it out infront of him as he walked down the tunnel.

"Well his normal. Great job Beth." Rick said as they followed.

"You too mom." Melaina said as she ran.

"After we take out the machine I'm going after Grundy. I'm gonna rip that vault door open and I'm gonna kill him." Rick said as they got closer.

"You really think that's gonna help you?" Yolanda questioned the boy.

"Yeah, I sure as hell do." Rick responded, Melaina decided to keep her mouth quiet and let the two bicker.

"Why?"

"Because I'll know that thing won't hurt anyone else. It won't make another orphan."

"But killing is wrong."

"Says who? God?"

"Yes."

"Them God shouldn't let bad things happen. Like my parents being thrown into a tree. So don't try and stop me Yolanda." Rick huffed before following behind Justin.

"Yolanda I know you don't want him to do it. But if his anger is poisoning him and taking it out on the person that killed his parents then maybe its for the best." Melaina whispered to the girl as they trailed behind the two males.

They ran for a little longer until they reached the same room they were all in a free days prior. They noticed it was empty before Courtney and Pat joined them.

"So where's this machine?" Rick asked as the groups joined up in the center.

"According to the map its through there." Josie said as they followed her until they heard a familiar laugh.

"Look what we got here." Sportsmaster scoffed.

"That's as far as you go." A voice that Melaina knew too well and hearing it made her look horrified.

"What the hell is going on here?" Melaina whispered as she stood between Joisie and Courtney.

"We didn't get to tell you earlier. I'm sorry Melaina." Josie stuttered as she stood defensively.

Those words, that face made Melaina gulp. Josie only ever used her full first name when it was serious.

The only thing that went through her mind as she stood gripping her sword and tightened the strap of her shield on her left forearm.

What will happen to her dear Boyfriend if this all goes to shit?
