Melaina sat on the bed in her room, in her black wide leg pants, blouse, long black trench coat and heels. While everyone else got ready for the funeral, she sat in her room, ready but not able to move.

She couldn't even if she tried. Her body said no, she couldn't walk out that door. She couldn't say goodbye to him, not yet, it was far too soon.

Downstairs, Diana fixed Edwards' tie while the girls sat on the couch waiting for Melaina.

" Melaina! Come on we need to go!" Josie called for the girl from the staircase.

"Josephine, go easy on her." Diana insisted.

"I happened to call backup-" Tia started before the doorbell rang. "Cameron hey, she's upstairs ." The youngest Prince child babbled before a formally dressed Cameron Mahkent greeted everyone and went to find his girlfriend.

Surprisingly, Melaina was now sitting on her carpet with her legs pulled to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. Staring blankly at the door.

Cameron took a deep breathe before knocking on the white wooden door. "Come in." He heard despite the quiet whisper that came from her mouth.

He slowly opened the door and found his girl sitting on her carpet with a neutral expression. He slowly closed the door and sat down beside the girl who had barely noticed his entrance.

"Hey darling." He sighed softy before turning his head to notice that a few tears had escaped. "Hey...hey...hey." He said as he cupped her face and wiped away a few tears with his thumb.

Her lip began to quiver before Cameron pulled her into a side hug. He started to draw circles on her back as she cried softly. "Shhhh it's okay baby, let it all out." He spoke while gently stroking her head.

"It shouldn't have been him. It's my fault he's dead, I ... I could've saved him." Melaina stuttered.

"You don't know that. What happened to Henry was horrible, but it's not your fault and it never will be." Cameron assured. "I know it'll be hard for you to go today, but I'll be right by your side throughout everything, I promise you." He added while holding her face in his hands, the girl wore a small grateful smile.

At the funeral people had already arrived. Mostly the Whitmore's and other people who wanted to pay their respects. Not even his father was at his funeral. Although most people were rather disappointed by the fact that he wasn't at his own sons funeral. To the said family and Prince-Dumonts, it was probably for the best.

As Melaina looked around at all the faces, ginger locks caught her eye. She quickly walked over to the ginger and immediately recognized her.

"CJ?" Melaina said before the girl turned around to face her.

" Melaina?" She answered with a small smile before pulling her into a hug. "Oh my gosh it's been such a long time."

"Yeah, I wish we were meeting under better circumstances."

"Me too. Talk later?" Chloe-Jean asked the girl.

"Yeah sure, see you then." Melaina said before walking back to her family.

As everyone got to their seats in front of the pedestal and a picture of Henry, a few of his relatives said a few words. From laughs to tears across many people who cared about him. Then came Chloe's turn.

The redhead looked turned to Melaina and insisted she should speak in her place. Cameron squeezed her hand assuringly before letting her go up.

She adjusted the microphone with her gloves hands, covering the healing bruises from the days before. She took a deep breathe as she fiddled with her fingers.

"I personally don't think I should be up here talking about him as if I deserve to be here... but here goes. Before all of this happened he and I weren't really on the best of terms, I mean high school changed all of us. I guess the hardest part of all of this is the fact that I'll never get to remake any of the memories I made with him during our friendship." Melaina started as she continued to fiddle with her finger, looking down the isle and seeing the rest of her team in the last row watching her with assuring smiles.

"When I was 9 I broke my leg, I never have told people the full story about how it happened. We were at the park and I remember wanting to jump from the top of the jungle jim like reckless child I was. I remember Henry telling me over and over ' Melly, don't do it. You're going to get hurt." The girl quickly cleared her throat in efforts to push down the lump in her throat.

"Well long story short I jumped and broke my leg. Henry didn't leave me to get help. Now he wasn't the strongest nine year old of back in 13 but that day he carried me all the way back to my home. Never stopped once he just kept on running with me in his arms and he didn't stop until I was safe. That's something I'll always remember about him, he always looked out for the people he cared about. No matter the type of person they were or what social class they were in he always cared." She quickly whipped away a tear.

"He didn't deserve what happened to him. At all, he had a future a great one too. One where he was happy and safe and maybe with a family of his own and people who could maybe share the experiences I had with him. Ones that they'll remember for a life time, ones that will bring them joy the moment that they come to mind. I hope he's happy wherever he may be, away from the dangerous world we live in." She turned to the big picture frame of Henry before walking over.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you.." She said to the picture before heading back to her seat beside Cameron.

After Melaina's speech the rest of the ceremony went rather quickly rather quickly, before they realized it, it was all over. Chloe found her old friend sitting at a bench not to far from the group of people who talked amongst themselves.

"Hey Melaina." CJ greeted, snapping the girl out of her thoughts.

"Hey." She answered quickly as she took deep breath as the ginger sat down beside her

"How are you doing? I heard that it was a car crash that did this to him." CJ started.

"Yeah that's what I was told." Melaina responded softly.

"But that's not what actually happened, is it?" CJ asked the girl as she turned I face her.

"Chloe now is really not-" She responded quickly.

"I've had my powers since I was born Melaina, you can't lie to me, even if you tried." The redhead interrupted. "Melaina, I know that you watched him die." the curly haired girl sighed while slightly biting the inside of her cheek.

"Oh."

"I also know that it wasn't your fault." Chloe told the girl. "At all, so please don't beat your self up over something that could've been stopped if that blonde girl didn't drag Henry into this mess he would've still been alive."

"Wait you think this is Courtney's fault? Chloe she didn't do anything. All she's done since she's come here is be there for Josie and-"

"What about you? Has Courtney checked up on you since Joey or Henry? Or your mom coming back? Look where your team is right now." Chloë pointed out as they turned their heads towards the small group of teenagers talking.

"Look Melaina I know this is the last place and time to be saying this but if your team heck the girl who dragged you and Henry into this mess in the first place really gave a shit about you she would be here instead of there." Melaina looked down at the ground. "Josie too. So whatever kick ass plan you have to take down my asshole uncle, be careful. Out there and with you trust."

"Call me whenever okay, if they don't check up on you I sure will." Chloe said as the two stood up. "See you around Melly." She spoke as she wrapped her arms around her friends waist while the girl did the same around her neck.

Melaina knew that the team cared about her but deep down she knew that what Cj said made a lot of sense.

And if she was being truly honest, that terrified her.
