diagnosis
chaewon's eyes scanned over her son's body, freaking out as she watched the boy break out in yet another fit of cold sweats- unable to tell what was wrong for the boy felt normal.
she made the executive decision of taking him to the emergency room, sad as she'd done everything in her own power to try and help her son.
she rushed the boy into the car as carefully as she could, arriving to the hospital ten minutes earlier than the gps had predicted.
"what's the problem, ma'am?" the nurse said as she saw the pair, eyes widening upon seeing the boy's damp figure.
"i don't know," chaewon said as the nurses helped intak onto a bed, putting an iv into his arm.
"there's no easy way to say this," the doctor said upon shutting the curtain that surrounded the hwang pair, sighing as he scanned the charts for the nth time that half-hour.
chaewon nodded, taking a harsh breath in as she waited for the results. she held her son's hand, intak having fallen asleep after being rehydrated.
the doctor put x-ray scan on the screen, turning the light on to help better explain what seemed to be the issue.
"we'd have to take more tests to be sure," the older began, only halfway confident of the diagnosis he was about to give.
"intak seems to have a very, very rare type of cancer," he said, chaewon nearly crashing onto the ground out of distress. "the mortality rate is exceptionally high," he softly added, not knowing whether he should continue or not.
chaewon only nodded, quietly thanking the doctor as stray tears escaped her tear ducts, waiting to be alone before being released.
her eyes scanned over her son's figure, grief seemingly the only sentiment present in her being. he has cancer?
