𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 twenty, daddy issues

it was her mothers birthday. her sister was celebrating it with her in maryland.

three family members were missing from the picture.

jamison, her brother and her father.

funny story about the girls father. he left.

he left and made a whole new family even after he told jamison he wouldn't leave. he promised her. but it was fine.

it always was.

a crying jamison sat in her room as she had just scraped her knee outside when riding her scooter. her and her family were away for the summer. they weren't in pennsylvania but instead were in maryland where her grandparents were.

tears streamed down the nine year olds face as she sat on her bed. a big red scrap more on her knee. her loud cry's filled her room as he mother and sister were out on the field with the horses.

a loud knock was heard as she then saw her door open to reveal her father.

he was a tall man. a confident one at that.

when her brother died all of a sudden she didn't have nobody anymore and instead had her father. a comfort crowd at most.

" hey jamie are you okay" he asked his daughter as he saw her shake her head no. " let me see it" he asked his daughter as he walked over and put her leg across his lap as he looked at the scraping. " do you want me to add medicine" he asked her. little jamison shook her head no. " it will burn" she told him. he shook his head yes.

it would.

" just imagine in a day it will be like a battle scar" he told her trying to make his daughter feel better. " wait really" jamison asked him. " yeah a big one" he told her as jamison's tears stopped before she smiled.

" could it be like i was fighting zombies" she asked him. " it can be whatever you want" he told his younger daughter.

they always had a tight bond. she kept secrets for him.

his phone started to ring as he looked at the contact before looking at jamison.

" i need to take this" he told her. she shook her head as her father moved her leg off his lap before leaving the room and answering the ohone before walking away.

jamison sat in her room for what felt like five more minutes before she got up. she didn't feel pain in her knee anymore.

the little girl got up as she looked out her window that faced the field as she saw her mother and sister on horses. she wanted to go do that.

she excited her room excited as she went to go find her dad to go with her.

she went to the kitchen as she heard his voice. the house was empty it was just them.

the little girl stopped before she hid against the wall as she heard her father speak to the person on the phone. and even if she was younger she understood one thing.

" baby just wait a few more weeks and i promise i'll be back" he told the person on the line. jamison didn't understand.

" i'm with my daughters i'll see you in a few weeks baby, maybe i'll leave early so i can see you" her father told the women on the other end of the phone.

jamison stood their confused before she revealed herself.

she felt sick.

" dad" jamison asked as her father looked at her before he hung up the phone and rushed to his daughter kneeling in front of her as he placed his hands on her shoulders.

" who was that" jamison asked quietly. " just a friend" he told his daughter. but jamison was smart. " will you actually leave" she asked him. " what" he let out. " will you leave me dad" she asked him. " jamie i wont leave this family" he told her.

" do you promise" she asked him. " yes i promise" he told her before the little jamison held out her pinky towards him. " pinky promise" she asked. he interlocked his pinky with hers. " pinky promise" he told his daughter.

" you can't tell mom about this at all" he told his daughter. " this will be our little secret" he told his daughter.

she nodded at his words.

" so you've been cheating on me this whole time" her mother yelled to her father. jamison sat as she pressed her head against the door. her sister sat in the room with her. right besides her.

" no miranda" her father yelled back.

melissa had called the girls father a few moments earlier. it's been two years since jamison found out.

" and you had our daughter keep that from me" she screamed. she had found out that as well.

" it's nothing, she's nothing baby-" he was cut off by miranda's voice. their mother.

" don't baby me" her mother yelled back. jamison could tell she was crying. " you never stopped" miranda asked.

stopped?

" i did i stopped talking to her when our son died" the father told her.

he's done it before.
and the girls brother had found out before he died.

" and then what you started to fuck her again" miranda yelled. alyanna looked at her younger sister as she stood up and grabbed her hand.

" let's watch a movie" she said trying to distract her younger sister. " goonies" jamison asked. " anything you want" alyanna told her as they sat in jamison's bed before putting on the movie trying to ignore the sound of yelling.

it took until the end of the movie before the yelling stopped.

and once it dyed down the house went quiet.

the two girls left the room once the movie ended and saw their mother standing in the kitchen while pouring a glass of wine.

" are you mad at me" jamison asked in a whisper. her mother looked at her before shaking her head.

" oh jamison i could never be mad at you" she told her daughter walking up to her and putting her face in her hands. " where's dad" alyanna spoke up causing miranda to stand up letting go of jamison's face.

" he left" miranda spoke. " what" jamison chocked out.

he promised. he pinky promise he wouldn't leave. why would he leave ? he promised her. he promised.

" is he coming back" alyanna asked as she stood next to her sister. it looked like their mother chocked on her words as she said the next word.

" no" she said. jamison dropped her older sisters hand that she had held onto when walking out of the room earlier.

this had explained it all. her father leaving was the reason she felt like everyone would leave.

the reason she felt like the blond would leave her. the reason she was scared.

her nights had turned cold. dark. not even a sweater could give her warmth. not even her lies could give her comfort. she couldn't lie to herself any longer about her emotions.

they were bound to come out.

but until then happy birthday miranda shoreway. and
thankyou for keeping your promise.
