SCARS/MARKS:
-General nicks and cuts that have healed over, mostly on his hands.
-There's a bigger scar on the back of his left arm from the time he fell into barbed wire as a younger kid. The wound is long since healed, but the scar is messy and uneven.
BODY BUILD:
-Very stocky and muscular. He's over six feet, strong, and steady on his feet. He's got a bit of a sleeper build, though. His muscles have a light padding over them that make him a little bit softer.
-PERSONALITY-
NEGATIVE TRAITS:
-Stubborn
-While he has a lot of common sense, sometimes he has a hard time seeing things logically. Street smart but not as book smart, if that makes sense.
-Uncertain
-Self concious
-Boisterous
-Short attention span
POSITIVE TRAITS:
-Honest
-Loyal
-Cheerful
-Gentle
-Talkative
PERSONALITY:
-Neil was raised in the south, and he's got the good old southern boy charm about him. He's polite (when it's deserved), honest, and loyal to a fault. He loves unyieldingly when his love is earned, which isn't hard. Despite his size, he's quite the gentle giant. He may come across as intimidating because he tends to talk a lot and gesture wildly as he does so, but it's just his way.
-Though he's pretty easy to get along with, he carries a stubborn streak that runs deep. He hates to be bossed around. Following directions has always been difficult for him, but when they're coming from a stranger? Forget about it.
-Neil, though he'd never admit it to anyone but his closest friends, is wildly self-concious. He'd never shame a guy for crying, but he sees it as a sign of weakness in himself. Growing up in a house of girls put the idea into his head that he had to be a man, fast, and men just don't cry. He's insecure about his body as well, and hates that people are intimidated by his size. He knows he talks too much, he knows he's too loud, too much. He can't help it, which makes him feel worse.
-SURVIVAL-
OPINIONS ON KILLING:
-He has no qualms about killing animals- that's just how it went when you lived on a farm. He won't kill wantonly, though, and when he does kill an animal, he uses all of it. He respects slaughter as a cycle of life. Killing people would be a lot harder for him. If he was forced to kill one of the infected out of necessity, he would do it. That doesn't mean he'd like it.
OPINIONS ON GROUP:
-He already has trust issues, so it's no surprise that he doesn't trust anyone outside of his small circle. Despite this, he's willing to help them where they need it, especially the kids.
COOPERATION WITH GROUP:
-Neil is a team player, but he doesn't like being told what to do by people who don't know as much as him. For now he can suck it up and play along, but who knows how much longer he'll let himself be bossed around?
COOPERATION WITH STRANGERS:
-In dire circumstances, he will work with people he doesn't know. Say someone is being attacked and asks for help- he'll help. Other than that, he steers clear of loners.
POSSESSIONS:
-1 small pocket knife
-1 metal water bottle, with no water in it.
-1 bandana
-His wallet, with various change and bills in it. He also has his debit card.
-A half eaten granola bar that's probably been there for too long.
-A worn black backpack
-His phone
-A border collie called Bismuth. She's the runt of an old farm dog's litter, and Neil decided to take her to college with him for company. She's three now and has been by his side for what seems like forever. She's smart as a whip and knows quite a few commands, but she's skittish. She doesn't fight, and whether that's because she won't or can't is something not even Neil knows.
SURVIVAL RATE:
-I think he could survive for a while. He's grown up living off the land, and as a result is very strong and knows a lot about the land. He can hunt and grow crops. His chances of survival drastically increase when in a group, though. Brute strength and innate knowledge of flora/fauna can only get you so far; he needs a more innovative partner to complement his strengths.
CAUSE OF DEATH:
-He would probably die either while trying to save someone or while being chased. He can run fast enough for shorter distances, but due to an ankle injury as a child, he can't keep up a decent speed for long.

STRENGTHS:
-Physical strength. He's been doing farm chores since he could talk, starting out with feeding chickens as a toddler and working up to lifting 200+ pound bales of hay without breaking a sweat. He kept up his physique in college by going to the gym as often as possible, so right now he's arguably in peak condition.
-Not squeamish. He doesn't bat an eye at blood or gore or any other nasty things that might send someone with a weaker stomach to the nearest restroom.
-Street-smart. While education in the standard sense has never appealed to Neil, he is quick thinking when it comes to real life situations. You had to be on a farm- the equipment and the stock could be unpredictable, and they kept you on your toes.
WEAKNESSES:
-Not book-smart. He had a hard time in school for a lot of reasons (undiagnosed dyslexia and adhd will do that to a guy, and added family trauma doesn't help. stg i'm not projecting onto him rn haha), and as a result he didn't pay much attention. He liked to work with his hands better anyways. Because of this he won't be helpful when it comes to research or planning for rescue, or whatever the group's plan is.
-Difficulty following directions. He has trouble recalling things if they aren't specifically written down in the order people want them done. In the apocalypse there's most likely a shortage of paper and pencils, so he's going to have a hard time here as well.
SKILLS:
-Plant/animal knowledge. He's got a green thumb, and knows the name of a plethora of native plants. When his classmates were busy learning about slope formula, he was looking at a field guide under his desk. He can also tell you how to best trap, gut, clean, and dress an animal.
-HISTORY-
LIFE BEFORE:
-Neil lost his parents in a car accident when he was three. He and his two sisters Jamie and Amy (twins and not even a year old at the time of the accident) went to live with their grandmother Natalia out in the country.
-Natalia was an honest, hardworking woman who was devastated at the loss of her daughter and son in law. Her husband had passed years before, so until she took in Neil and his sisters, she was alone on her farm. When she claimed custody of them, she devoted herself to raising them right.
-Neil grew up working hard, but wasn't any less loved or happy because of it. He only carries brief memories of his parents.
-Natalia had to deal with a rough patch of Neil's younger life. Around the time he entered middle school, he became what the school called rebellious. Teachers reported that he refused to do his work, that he was a constant distraction to the class. Natalia had it out with the principal, furious at Neil's treatment. Around this time was when he started developing insecurities about himself. He overheard a teacher tell her coworker that Neil was one of her worst students and that she had half a mind to tape his mouth shut before class. Understandably, he wondered if she was right.
-His teenage years were more of the same. His saving grace was his guidance counselor. She was the one who assured him that there was nothing wrong with him, that sometimes people's brains worked differently from others but that didn't mean you were broken for it. She showed him that he could go to college, a dream Natalia held for him. With her help, he applied to university and was accepted.
-He had little trouble in university. While school was still a struggle, he could work his schedule to get classes he understood and liked. He brought along Bismuth, and to help pay his way, he took on a job delivering pizzas. He made his niche, and before he knew it... everything went to shit.
