chapter 9, you're officially my bitch

Reese made it home that day sleeping away the exhaustion in her body. Her mind was occupied with so many things, what Big John's compass meant, what the Pogues would do next, and lastly her mind was egged on by JJ. She didn't know why but remembering the feeling of being safe in his arms ran through her brain.



The next day she headed over to the Cameron's where the Kooks would be. She needed to go back to normal, she wasn't a Pogue and she knew exactly what the rest of her life looked like.

"Jeez, man, this is nuts." Topper said as Reese walked with the boys looking at the mess Agatha had created.

"Agatha's a bitch." Rafe said as the boys laughed.

"Damn right, she is." Kelce interjected.

"You should see the Cut" Reese said thinking about the Chateau yet again.

"When were you in the Cut?" Rafe asked turning towards the girl.

"Just had to drop something off for Mom." Reese responded quickly, lying to the boy.

"I mean, I just... I can't get it out of my head. It's just on repeat. 'Your move, broski.'" Topper said bringing up the events of the Kegger.

"Bro, he had a semiautomatic pointed at your head." Kelce said just as passionate as Topper.

"That's what I'm saying. It's insane." Topper said exasperated.

"Safety off." Kelce said in shock yet again.

"They're freaking Pogues, man." Rafe said as Reese looked at them all confused.

"Are we gonna ignore the fact that you were drowning John B?" Reese asked directly staring at Topper.

"I wasn't actually gonna drown him." Topper said reassuring himself. Reese scoffed shaking her head.

"You know you should get a piece." Rafe said.

"What do you mean?" Top asked.

"You gotta fight fire with fire and defend the homestead." Rafe said.

"Or you could just let it fucking go?" Reese said exhausted by the Pogue vs. Kook warfare. They all looked at the girl before laughing and shaking off the comment.

"Listen, guys." Topper said pulling the boys into him which caused Reese to continue to walk towards where Sarah was. She was talking to a little girl as Reese joined their conversation.

"Oh, so you left her in the boat?" Sarah asked the little one sweetly.

"Mm-hm." the girl hummed quietly.

"Okay, can you tell me what she looks like?" Sarah said as both her and Reese turned to climb into the boat.

"She has a trunk and blue ears." the girl told the older girls.

"Okay. we're gonna get her for you." Reese said smiling softly.

"Be careful of electricity." the little girl warned.

"We'll be okay." Sarah ensured the girl.

"What're they doing?" Topper asked

"Watch Sarah fall and make a big drama out of it." Rafe said his eyes trained on the Carmichael girl watching her every move.

"Hey, there's 14,000 volts in those wires." A Kook mom shouted. Both of the girls losing their balance they let out short shrieks.

"Hey, Sarah, be careful!" Topper shouted.

"What about me Topper?" Reese asked laughing.

"Reese." Rafe said concern filling his voice.

"Oh, you gotta be kidding me. Sarah, get down now! Reese you too!" Rose, Sarah's stepmom shouted.

"Rose, calm down. I'm an athlete. I got this." Sarah said.

"And I'm good at everything." Reese said as the two girls laughed at each other.

"You're gonna get electrocuted! Get down!" Rose yelled agin.

"She just wants attention." Rafe spat still trained on the Carmichael girl.

"You kidding me? Get...Oh my... No." Rose said mumbling at the girls. The two girls began to carelessly dance around the wires.

"Sarah, that's not funny." Topper said.

"RC, stop it." Rafe finally showing his concern for the girl.
"Little fried Sarah." Rafe said pulling back into his careless attitude.

"Rafe, your sister's crazy, man." Kelce said.

"Shut up, your girls in there too Rafe." Topper spat.

"I see her." Sarah said as the girls saw the stuffed animal. Sarah looked at Reese as they both noticed the disconnected wire, Reese knew exactly what to do. They both took one step losing their balance as they both screamed.

"Sarah! Sarah!" Topper shouted running to the boat looking at lifeless body of the girl.

"Reese!" Rafe yelled running even closer to the boat. That's when the girls broke out in laughter. Sarah pulling out the wire and showing it was disconnected.

"It's disconnected. Holy shit!" Sarah said laughing.

"Y'all are so gullible." Reese said making eyes as the Cameron boy.

"For the love of God." Rose muttered turning back towards the house.

"She got you." Kelce said turning to Topper. Rafe started to laugh agreeing with Kelce.

"Topper, you should see your face." Reese said as the girl stood up.

"Yeah. Okay, yeah, I'm sorry that I care. All right, guilty." Topper defended himself.

"Congrats, pussy, you're officially her bitch." Rafe said placing a hand on Top's shoulder.

"Don't act like you weren't all concerned either Rafe." Reese said walking towards him. "You're officially my bitch." Reese teased running her arm up his bicep. Topper and Kelce let out a round of 'oo's' before laughing it off.



Topper had peeled off talking to Wheezie and Kelce had gone off somewhere else leaving Rafe and Reese aloneness the boy climbed into the hammock and the girl climbed in after him. Her body fell on top on his extended arms as he wrapped it lazily around her.

"I got you" she said teasing him yet again.

"Shut up." Rafe said his cold demeanor shining through.

"Come on it was kinda funny." Reese said staring up at the boy.

"You can't do that shit Reese's Cup." he said knowing the nickname would piss her off.

"Rafe, I will throw you out of this hammock" she said leaning against his chest.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." he said begging for mercy.

"Fine." she said snuggling back into his body.

"So uh, I heard you were out in the marsh with the Pogues yesterday." Rafe said his agitation showing.

"What the fuck, how do you know that?" Reese asked worriedly.

"It doesn't matter, what were you doing with the Pogues?" Rafe said ignoring her question.

"Are you keeping fucking tabs on me?" Reese said sitting up in the hammock causing Rafe to shift his position to keep it balanced.

"No Reese, just, it's whatever." he said. " Why were you with the Pogues?" he asked yet again.

"One it's none of your business and two I can hang out with who I want to hang out with." Reese said now annoyed.

"Not the Pogues." Rafe said.

"Whatever." Reese said going to climb out of the hammock.

"RC, stop. I'm sorry. To be honest, I just missed you." he said a pout forming on his lips. Reese looked back at him before climbing back into his arms, comfortable silence falling over them.
