College Interview (2)
Clay lays in his bed. His nose was stuffy, he was sweaty, and he was exhausted. It's weird, he was tired but couldn't go to sleep. He curls up in his blankets and lays on his side. There's a light knock at the door. Clay sighs, "Justin, you can just come in." He calls out.
The door continues to be knocked on. Clay quietly groans. "We have keys for a reason--"
Clay opens the door and sees the brunette standing there with a content face."Hi!" She exclaims.
"Mia, What...why are you here right now?" He asks, he takes a step back so she wouldn't get any of his germs in herself.
Mia smiles, "We had a date, dumbass and we're gonna have it." She brushes past him and walks over to his bed.
She opens the soup and sets it on the nightstand. Clay closes the door and turns to the brunette. "Mia, you could get sick." He says. "And I have my mom taking care of me, I'm fine."
"Nope, I sent your parents on a date night!" Mia places her hands on her hips. "And if I get sick then...no school!" She cheers.
Clay opens his mouth. "Mi--"
"Oh, just read." She hands him the comic.
Clay accents the comic and his eyes widen. "No way!" He exclaims.
Mia smiles. "You're my favorite Geek." She states, lightly patting his cheek.
Clay looks at the girl. "You didn't have to do this." He shakes his head. "Why did you do this?" He asks.
"Because I love you." Mia shrugs. "Now, come on..." she grabs his hand, she starts to take off her shoes and leads him to the bed.
Mia grabs Clay's laptop and places the DVD in. Mia sits on the bed and stares at Clay with an arched brow. "Well, Jensen?" She questions.
Clay just takes a moment to stare at her. Her short brown hair in a ponytail, her eyes touched with every shade of blue, that smile that always made him feel...safe. "You know, I would kiss you if I weren't sick." Clay chuckles, walking over to the bed.
Mia chuckles quietly and her face heats up. "Shut up..." She says quietly. The brunette scoots over and Clay lays back down. Mia hands him the bowl of soup and the spoon. "Here." she says.
Clay holds the bowl, he looks at her then back at the bowl. "You...cooked?" he asks.
"Our chef, Tori, helped me, but...yeah you could say that I cooked." She gives him a tight-lipped smile.
"Also...about that kiss." Mia kisses his cheek.
Clay's heart bangs against his chest. He chuckles nervously and opens the soup. He takes a sip of it and practically melts. Clay looks at the brunette who was anxiously waiting for feedback. "Well..." she bunches her shoulders.
"Mia, this is really good." He compliments.
Mia raises her brows, "Really?" She asks.
"Really." Clay nods.
Mia smiles, "Cool..." She chuckles.
She presses the play button on Clay's laptop. "I'm glad you like it." She smiles.
Clay continues to eat the soup, the couple continues to watch the movie. After Clay was done with his soup, he got tired. His head was now on her shoulder and Mia found her hand running through his hair. She turns to Clay and just looks at him.
Clay feels her eyes on him and turns to the brunette. "What is it?" He asks.
Mia slowly shakes her head. "I just...I love you," she whispers.
Clay smiles, "I love you too." He whispers back.
Mia wasn't smiling, but her face was so content and gentle. Clay gives her a small smile and lays his head on her shoulder again, Mia lays her head on his for support.
==========
Mia looks down at her hands. "Uh..." Mia chuckles quietly. "I've always been interested in the arts." Mia plays with the charm bracelet on her wrist. As she continues to talk, she still couldn't stop thinking about Clay.
"So I heard you write, and I could tell by your college essay." He says. "It was amazing."
Mia tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. "Thank you, I've been...writing my entire life, when I was younger I would write about how much I wanted to prove to my parents that...I could be a child they could be proud of, but they only focused on..." Mia trails off her sentence.
"You brother, Bryce?" The interviewer asks.
Mia slowly nods her head. "Yeah..." her mouth twitches.
"You've gone through a lot of loss in your life, how has...writing got you through that?"
Mia's jaw tightens, "I don't..." Mia inhales and slightly shakes her head. "It was difficult, I almost didn't get through it," Mia admits, nodding her head. "But, I see this as my second chance. And...I'm very grateful." she gnaws on her lower lip.
"Well, I'm glad you're here too. You got to experience different things you've never experienced before." The man states.
Mia's stomach twists as something hits her. If I did succeed in killing myself...I would've never been with Clay. Mia exhales sharply, she touches her stomach.
"Mia, are you all right?" The man asks.
Mia blinks away her tears. "Yeah, I was just thinking about all the things that I would've never done if I..." Mia chuckles quietly.
"It's fine, I just...I'm good." Mia waves her hand around.
"Well, Mia you're GPA is...amazing and so are your grades." The man compliments.
"Except for a few months..." Mia says, referring to the lowest point in her life.
"Mia, everybody has a moment in their life when they were at their worst." The man states. "It only matters whether if you give up or keep going."
"And I gave up." Mia gives the interviewer a sad smile. "I don't even deserve to...to be interviewed right now."
"Of course you do, everybody deserves a chance."
"Even a second chance?" Mia asks.
"Even a second chance."
==========
"I can't believe you fucking two." Mia murmurs as she slides into the back seat.
"Shit! Fuck!" Tony shouts. "You two need to stop fucking doing that."
Mia runs a hand through her hair. "Sorry..." She mumbles.
"Mia, what are you doing here?" Clay asks.
Mia squints her eyes and pinches Clay's arm. "Ow! What the fuck?" He hisses. "Why do you keep doing that?"
"You escaped out of a Psych Ward and you didn't come see me?" Mia arches a brow. "Fucking kidding me?"
Clay slightly slumps his shoulders. "I'm sorry, I just...had a lot of things to sort through," he states.
Mia pierces her eyes into Clay's. She inhales and exhales through her nose. She gives Clay a soft smile. The smile that makes his heart quicken. "Fine...sorry for pinching you." She rubs his arm. "Tony called me, he told me that you were out, but you changed your mind." Mia states.
Clay nods his head, "I'm here for Tyler." He says. "Always will be."
Mia chuckles softly, "Same." her face heats up. Clay being there for his friends always made Mia feel a type of way.
She inhales, "Anyway, this is crazy." Mia states.
"What is?" Tony asks.
"You thinking Tyler is buying guns," Mia says. "Why would he buy guns? He doesn't have a reason to."
"If you're doubting my theory right now...why are you here?" Tony asks.
Mia shrugs, "So I can prove you wrong." she tilts her head. "Cause that's the type of friend I am."
"Wait..." Tony says, his eyes forward.
Clay and Mia look through the front window and see Tyler walking into the alley. Tyler stops, Mia's eyes travel to the alley and see headlights flashing on and off.
Mia inhales, "Okay, maybe I was wrong...just this once." She exhales.
"Well, you were wrong about the drill at school too." Clay points out.
Mia runs her tongue over her teeth. "Okay, fine. That too." She growls.
"Go. Let's go." Tony orders.
They all quickly get out of the car and run towards the alley. "Hey, Tyler, wait up!" Clay calls out.
Tyler turns to the three of his friends. His eyes widen and he walks over to them. "What are you guys doing here?" He asks.
"You gotta come with us!" Mia states.
"What the fuck is this?" The man asks.
Tyler walks back over to the man. "Whatever you guys are doing, you need to stop!" Tony says.
"Who the fuck are these clowns?" The man asks.
"No one." Tyler answers. He walks over to his friends. "Just get the fuck out of here!" He barks.
"You gotta come with us, Ty," Mia says.
"Fuck this, I'm out." The man points at Tyler, he goes back to his car, but sirens are heard from both sides of the alleyway.
Mia's eyes widen, "Holy shit!"
The police cars skid to a stop, officers flood out of the cars. Mia holds her hands up.
"Police! Stay where you are!"
The man grips Tyler by the chin, pushes him against the wall, and aims a gun at his forehead.
"WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!" Tony screams.
"TYLER!" Mia screams.
"Put the gun down!" Clay shouts. "Just put the gun down!"
The man releases Tyler and aims the gun forward.
"Fuck off!"
A/N: We're almost at the end, and in all honesty, I get teary-eyed just thinking about it!
