IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER IN THE YEAR 1983, Samantha Henderson remembered it as the summer she would never forget. Although when it ended, she wished she could. She found herself at the infamous Steve Harringtons house at one of his many parties. You're probably wondering why in the hell she would be at the party of a man she truly never wished to know.
Well, you could thank her best friend Veronica. Samantha had practically groaned at even the thought of going but Veronica was a very convincing person and well, here she was. And yet Veronica was no where to be seen. She had lost her within the first hour of being there.
"Seriously Roni, where are you?" She mumbles as she holds her drink in her hand. Samantha let's out a frustrated huff as she just takes a seat by the pool. Her eyes flickered over the countless people around her, most of them talking with each other, a few of them doing a bit too much pda for her liking.
Samantha rested her head back, putting her drink on the table as she just felt bored. She couldn't even leave because she didn't want to just abandon Veronica even though she honestly could've left and Samantha wouldn't even know. She didn't think Veronica was gone though, she was probably in one of the bedrooms doing god knows what.
She hears footsteps beside her and as she turns her head, she sees Steve taking the seat beside her. Samantha instantly rolls her eyes, tensing a bit as she didn't particularly want to be around him. Had she ever really had a conversation with him? No. But that was mainly because talking to him often resulted in being around Tommy and Carol and she'd rather jump into a pit of fire.
So she just stands up, brushing herself off as she turns to walk away. "Didn't know i was unpleasant company." She hears his voice from behind her and she sighs a bit as she looks back at him.
"Guess you learn something everyday." Samantha retorts, placing her hand on her hip. Steve just opens his beer, taking a long swig of it.
"If you maybe got to know me instead of going off of the preconceived notion about me in your head, maybe you wouldn't be such an uptight bitch." He tells her. Samantha scoffs a little bit, just glaring down at him.
"And this is supposed to make me like you?" Samantha asks him, her tone a bit blunt. Steve chuckles as he adjusts himself in his seat, taking another drink of his beer.
"Come on, just sit back down." He tells her, gesturing to the chair beside him. She fakes a gasp as she places her hand on her chest.
"The king of hawkins asking little old me to sit down? I should be flattered." Samantha says sarcastically before crossing her arms against her chest.
"Or you can continue to wander around by yourself, be my guest." Steve states with a shrug of his shoulders, pulling out a blunt and a lighter.
Samantha scrunched up her nose a bit as she glances around the backyard. "I'm not alone." She admits as she reluctantly sits back down in the chair. What else was she supposed to do? She already looked like a complete loser by herself.
"So, what brings Samantha Henderson to my humble abode?" Steve asks her and this makes her completely silent and she just stared at him like he was an alien. "Cat got your tongue?" He adds as he notices this.
"Just surprised you know my name." Samantha admits. People never really paid her any mind and well, a lot of people just 'forgot' her name because they felt a certain way toward her.
"Think I don't notice you?" Steve asks, raising an eyebrow. In all truth, he did notice her. Whenever he went someone and he saw her, his eyes were drawn to her and he barely listened to anything his friends said.
"I know your friends do." She snaps back a little bit with slight anger in her voice. His friends were the main reason she really didn't care to acknowledge him. They had really made her life a living hell and would make fun of her every single moment that they could.
"Tommy and Carol are lame, okay? Don't listen to em'." Steve retorts with a sigh, shaking his head. There it was, the blatant excuses for his friends racist behavior. Maybe it was for the best that he never really spoke to her until now.
"And yet you still hang out with them." Samantha points out, clenching her jaw in an irritated manner. He simply shrugs his shoulders.
"Maybe I'm lame too." He adds, taking a hit of his blunt. Samantha squints her eyes but the faint ghost of a smile appeared on her face as she glanced down at her hands.
"My best friend Veronica dragged me here and then ran off somewhere, that's why I'm by myself." She explains to him. Veronica had begged her to come cause she didn't want to come alone and then disappeared which kind of annoyed Samantha.
"So both our friends are idiots?" Steve states and samantha laughs just slightly as she nods her head. "Kind of surprised you're not hunched over somewhere with a textbook." He admits, mainly in a joking manner.
"I don't just study." She informs in as she rolls her eyes playfully and Steve just narrows his gaze.
"Mhm, thats why you're in the library so often?" He responds which catches her attention bit off guard. How would he know she went to the library a lot? It made her kind of wonder if he really did pay attention to her. But even if he did, she couldn't understand why.
"Maybe if you studied a little you wouldn't have failed chemistry." Samantha teases him and Steve raises an eyebrow before laughing a little.
"You got me there." He surrenders, holding up his hands before leaning towards her. "You offer any tutoring sessions? Some hands on learning might jog my memory a bit." She knew his words meant more than he was saying, his eyes drifting over a bit.
This made her stall, unable to form words for a few seconds. Samantha clears her throat, brushing her hair behind her ear. "My schedules full." She tells him. That was lie. She really had nothing going on in her life right now. But being alone with Steve Harrington wasn't exactly a thing on her to do list.
"Its summer."
"Yeah, got a lot of like-- activities on my plate." Samantha stutters out, pressing her lips together tightly. Steve didn't believe her, she knew he didn't but he didn't press the matter. "I'm gonna go find Veronica." She says, standing up from her chair because she didnt know how long she could take the man's flirting.
"Well, if your schedule frees up, let me know." Steve calls out to her with a wink. Samantha blushes slightly, moving her hair to cover her face a bit as she rushes off in the opposite direction.
Steve watches her momentarily, a low chuckle leaving his lips before he brings his blunt back to his mouth.

SAMANTHA WALKS UP TO THE COUNTER IN THE MOVIE THEATRE, adjusting her bag on her shoulder.
"Hi, can I get one ticket to the twilight zone, a small popcorn and a medium Coke please?" She asks the worker with a polite smile on her face while fishing out cash from her bag. Handing the cash over, the worker gives her the things she asked for. "Thanks." Samantha says before turning to head toward the rooms.
She often came to the theater alone, mainly cause she liked to just exist alone for a few hours but also because she loved cinema and seeing what was new. As she took a seat, she placed her stuff beside her and put the popcorn bucket in her lap.
"This seat taken?" Samantha hears someone asks and as she looks up, she was very surprised to see Steve standing next to her. She was quiet for a second, more trying to figure out what he was doing here.
"Harrington?" She asks, confusion clear on her face. "What are you doing?" Samantha just watched as he took the seat beside her.
"Watching a movie?"
"You came to see Twilight Zone?" She didn't really believe it for a second. He didn't seem like the type.
"So judgemental. You know, they say never to judge a book by its cover." Steve tells her with a tsk, shaking his head as he was already trying to either tease her or this was his way of flirting.
"No, you're right, I'm judging the whole book." She corrects him and she could see an amused look form on his face. "So, you constantly stop by my work, you somehow get my phone number and now you just so happen to be seeing the same movie as me alone?" Samantha asks him.
Since his party, it seemed like Samantha had seen Steve everywhere. It didnt help that he often came to the bookstore she worked at when she knew damn well he didn't really read. Her mom said that he had called the house as well, which was weird in it's own and now he was somehow seeing the same exact movie that she was at the same time. Yeah, it was definitely a pattern.
"Lifes full of coincidences."
"Hm." She hums, not knowing if this was actually just random or if he was doing this on purpose. "Well, there's plenty of empty seats." Samantha points out, gesturing to the rows in front of her.
"Nah, I think I'm good right here." Steve tells her as he makes no effort to move. She looks at him suspiciously, pressing her tongue to the inside of her cheek.
"Is this like some dare?" Samantha asks him in an accusatory manner but Steve just furrows his eyebrows.
"What?"
"Your friends dared you to do this, right? Try and hang out with me all in some effort to humiliate me? I fall for your stupid charm and they make me look like a fool." She explains to him. She really wouldn't put it past Tommy and Carol, they truly loved to mess with her even though she never even did anything to them.
"They don't know I'm here." Steve denies, seeming confused why she would even think that.
"Right, I'm supposed to believe that." Samantha mumbled, rolling her eyes as she looks away from him.
"Is it so hard to think that maybe i like hanging out with you?" Steve asks her and she just gives him a deadpan expression.
"You don't even know me."
"Exactly, I don't. Maybe i want to."
"Seriously, where are they hiding?" She looks around the theater and Steve just sighs as he crosses his arms against his chest.
"I came here alone, Sam." Steve states which made her look back at him. She was really wary of the whole situation. She knew not to trust people so easily, especially in a place where they were alone.
"If you wanted to hang out with me, why not just ask?" Samantha questions. He had her number, he could've asked at her work but no, he just showed up here unannounced. Steve looks at his hands, fiddling with his fingers as he seemed hesitant to say something.
"Cause i was embarrassed, okay? Looking at you makes me nervous and-- I was scared you'd reject me." The words were foreign to Samantha. She never had anyone like her, let alone the most popular guy who seemed to like everyone but her.
"You were scared I'd reject you? Don't you have like a dozen girls fawning over you?" She states, knowing for a fact that almost every girl in school had a crush on him.
"I'm not interested in them." He denies and that right there was yet another weird thing that striked her. Steve was a player, she knew this, so everything he was saying right now was suspicious to her.
"Veronica put you up to this, didnt she?" She honestly wouldn't be surprised. Veronica had been trying to set her up with people.
"No one put me up to this."
"You seriously just want to hang out with me?" Samantha frowns lightly. She didn't know why it felt like a trick to her but maybe it was because she had just grown up feeling like everyone was just either using her or making fun of her.
"You seem so shocked that somebody would." Steve seemed to feel a bit bad, not meaning for it to come off like someone had paid him to talk to her. He genuinely was just interested in her.
She just moves her head to the screen, not saying anything else. Samantha wouldn't kick him out but she just didn't know how to approach this. She sees him lift his arm a bit which made her narrow her eyes. "Dont even dare try that cheesy move." Samantha warns him and he only laughs as he picks something off of her hair.
"You had a strand of string in your hair." Steve tells her and she looks back at him, noticing the closing distance between them which made her breath halt just a bit.
"Oh." She says, her eyes dazing up into his own. Steve moves away from her but she couldn't stop her eyes from flickering over him for a second long. Samantha snaps her gaze off of him. "Are we the only ones in here?" Samantha asks. Of course that would be her luck, being alone in a room with Steve.
"I guess so." Steve responds. Samantha didnt know why she was so nervous. Maybe it was because it was him or because Veronica had practically planted in her mind that she needed to find somebody and it had her just thinking of Steve's lips--- she snaps out of it again, noticing that she was infact just staring at the man who seemed to realize it as well.
"Did you need to ask me something?" Steve questions, raising an eyebrow but she could see the hint of a smirk on his lips.
"No." Samantha quickly denies, looking away from him, her cheeks turning deep red. She hated Veronica, truly she did. Samantha would not be thinking about kissing Steve if it wasnt for her, surely. Or at least that's what she wanted to believe.
But maybe she should just do it. Samantha felt like this might be her only opportunity. Someone was actually showing interest in her and she was gonna just scare them away because she was afraid. And Steve seemed to want to be here, maybe for the same reason. So, what could go wrong if she just made the move.
Well, he could actually be using her and everyone could find out and she would be absolutely made fun of for the rest of her high-school years but that was already happening to her anyways.
She wasn't even thinking when she did it, she just turned her head and kissed him. Steve was caught off guard a bit, but as fast as it happened, it ended. Samantha pulled back, completely embarrassed as she stared at the man. "Um... i uh-- I um, didnt mean to do that."
S
amantha internally face palmed because she really couldn't come up with something better than that?
"Was i not breathing or something?" Steve jokes as he tilts his head a bit. Samantha just watches him lean closer to her and it caused her to suck her breath in.
"We shouldn't." She denies. It was a bad idea, she knew it. Samantha just didn't see a good outcome coming from this.
"Why not?" Steve asks, his eyes flickering back up to her own. Samantha pulls away, her gaze dropping.
"Cause I'm the outcast and you're well... everyone loves you, so." Samantha points out. It was like some weird rom-com and well, she never thought that something like this would actually happen to her.
"You think I care about that shit?" Steve asks her with a small scoff and she could only shrug her shoulders. He moves his thumb to her chin, tilting it up a bit. "I don't." He denies, gazing at the woman. Samantha feels herself inching closer as she felt his touch on her skin.
Steve connects their lips again, his fingers trailing into her hair as the kiss deepens a bit. Samantha sighs into it, her eyebrows furrowing just slightly because everytime she had even though about her first kiss, she truly didnt know what it would feel like. Until now.
She could taste the butter on his lips, his fingers were tugging at her hair in just the smallest motion as his other hand rested softly on her knee. Their noses brushed against each other as they sunk into the kiss a bit more. She was mainly the reason they clashed a bit because she truly didnt feel like she knew what she was doing.
But for some reason it seemed to click in her mind as Steve kissed her, like it had all just appeared for her the moment his lips touched her own. The kiss was tender and sweet with only a slight sense of urgency. But that was because she truly couldn't get enough. She never understood when people would go on and on about their first kisses and such, thinking it was all such bullshit. And now she seemed to be in the exact same boat.
He wasnt rushing anything though, not pushing limits or forcing anything upon her. His hand only brushed against her leg slightly, and his movements mirrored hers, only taking it as far as she would. That was until the lights in the theater suddenly turned on.
"Hey, horny lovebirds." They hear a voice say and they spring a part from each other. Well, samantha does while as Steve doesnt even seem affected, simply adjusting himself in his seat and running a hand through his hair. As she turns her head, she saw the owner staring at them with distaste. "Find somewhere else to swallow each other that's not my theatre." He sneers at them and she felt her cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
"I'm so sorry. We'll leave." She quickly apologizes, grabbing her stuff in order to stand up.
"He probably just doesn't get any and that's why he's so miserable." Steve adds and Samantha hits his shoulder, giving him a glare before sending an awkward smile the owners way.
"Sorry about him, he doesn't have manners apparently." She grumbles the last part in a stern tone toward Steve who smirks to himself but stands up as well.
As they walk out of the theater, the owner giving them a look the entire way, Samantha was quick to head toward the exit. "So, you're one of them, hm? Kiss and run?" Steve asks her, mainly in a teasing way as he puts his hands in his pockets.
Samantha stops, turning back to face him. "I'm not running." She denies, although she was flustered and felt like she had just committed a crime. "I just..." Samantha didn't even know what to say. What was she supposed to blurt out, that she loved kissing him?
"You know the little Cafe down on main street?" Steve questions and this makes her a bit confused.
"Yeah?"
"Meet me there tomorrow morning." Steve tells her as he starts to back up. "Give you some time for that blush to disappear." He teases with a wink before he turns around and heads toward the door.
Samantha couldnt help but smile to herself as she looks down at her feet. She really could not believe this was happening right now. If she was being honest, she did have a huge crush on Steve but well, so did everyone. And she never thought that she had even a sliver of a chance.
But maybe it had been because she was holding herself back. Cause now she did have a chance. She just hoped that nothing messed it up.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, the summer breeze hitting her as she looked out the window, Samantha just rested back against the passenger seat. Her eyes shift over to Steve who was the one driving. She couldn't help but smile as she admired him, honestly wondering how she ended up here.
She and Steve had started seeing each other and it was honestly one of the best decisions she had made. Samantha finally felt like her life wasn't so dull and that actually had a chance of feeling happiness. How Steve Harrington was the one to give that to her would remain a mystery.
"Where are we going?" She asks curiously as he told her he wanted to take her somewhere but wouldn't actually give her any idea as to where.
"Youll see in a minute." Steve responds as he focuses his eyes on the road. The low sound of music comes from the car as they cruise down the road.
"I like this." Samantha admits and Steve furrows his eyebrows as he glances toward her.
"What?"
"Us just driving around together." She tells him and he smiles gently.
"Well, it would be better for me if you didn't distract me all the time." Steve retorts in a teasing manner and she just gasps.
"I do no such thing." Samantha denies. Steve shakes his head, stopping the car and turning off the engine. He just gets out, making his way to the passenger side. As he opens the door, he just gazes down at her.
"Come on, i have something to show you." Steve tells her as he grabs her hips, lifting her out of the car. She giggles as she was placed on the ground, leaning back against the car.
"Is it a secret book collection and you actually know how to read?" Samantha jokes and Steve just gives her a playful glare.
"You know, you're mean when you're impatient." He tells her, grabbing something from the back before shutting the car door. "Wait, gotta cover your eyes." Steve demands and Samantha scrunches her nose up a little.
"Seriously?"
"Mhm." He hums as he nods. Samantha sighs but lifts her hands to cover her eyes. Steve grabs a hold of her waist in order to guide her.
"Youre not gonna push me down a hill, right?" Samantha asks him as they continue to walk a bit further away from the car.
"Thats something you would do, not me." Steve responds as he pulls them to a stop, beginning to lift his hands.
"No, keep your hands on me, don't take them off." She says with a giggle, leaning back against him. Steve laughs as he grips her hips again but she can hear the rustling of something hitting her side.
"You can look now." He tells her and she hesitates before pulling down her hands and opening her eyes.
Samantha was met with a small waterfall, a huge rock set near the creek with numerous wildflowers around it. Her eyes widen as she glances around, never once thinking something this gorgeous could be found within Hawkins. "This is beautiful." She admits as she just took in everything she was seeing.
"I found it the other week when hanging with some friends and thought it could be like our spot. We can come here when we want to be truly alone." Steve explains to her, his lips moving toward her ear as he still held her close.
"We're always alone." Samantha says with a small snort.
"You know what i mean." He responds as he kisses the side of her head briefly. "Or you can come here to read your books or something." Steve adds and Samanthas smile only brightens as she turns to face him.
"I love it." She tells him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"And thought what better to break it in then some cheeseburgers." Steve holds up the bag that was by his side and she gasps lightly, trying to peer inside of it.
"You got it--"
"Just the way you like em." Steve says, knowing she needed them a certain way in order to like them. Samantha narrows her gaze just a little.
"Maybe you know me too well." She teases him with a laugh before she places her hands on his chest, gazing up at him. "I really appreciate all of this, Steve." Samantha states sincerely with a soft smile. Steve returns it as he tilts his head a bit.
"Only the best for my girl."

IT WAS NEARING THE END OF SUMMER NOW, Samantha and Steve had only continued to grow closer, spending a lot more of their time together and getting to know each other better. The only thing was that they hadn't had sex yet. Which honestly, Samantha thought might have been a deal breaker for Steve. But when she told him that she hadn't been ready he was completely okay with waiting. He seemed to be fully satisfied which just kissing her like his life depended on it.
Samantha was laid down beside him on his bed, his parents being out of town so they were alone. It was normally the case because they went on a lot of trips.
"God, my back is killing me." Steve mutters as he stretches out a bit. Samantha giggles as she looks over at him.
"I told you not to play that game." She points out and he pouts lightly back at her, turning onto his side.
"I blame the liquor." He retorts and she just shakes her head as she sits up a bit. They were at a party last night and Steve had the stupid idea to try and do a handstand contest with others. Safe to say he could not do a handstand.
"Turn over." Samantha tells him and Steve sighs but does what she says, flipping onto his stomach. "Take off your shirt." She instructs and Steve smirks slightly as he brings his hands to the bottom of his shirt.
"Scandelous." He teases her and she rolls her eyes playfully as he takes it off. Her eyes scan over him momentarily, admiring his chest before he lays back down on the bed.
Samantha moves over to him, settling herself on his hips. Steve seemed a bit impatient but stayed still. She puts her hands on his back, feeling around for a moment before beginning to massage his skin, trying to get all of the knots and kinks that had formed in his muscles.
"Fuck." Steve curses, jolting a bit underneath her hands making her laugh as she tightens her legs around his hips so he couldn't move that much.
"Its gonna hurt." Samantha tells him and he lets out a long sigh, adjusting himself a little.
"Hmmph." He seemed to not like the idea but allows her to continue massaging his back. Her hands move from his shoulders all the way down to his lower back, her fingers somewhat lifting his sweatpants. She kneads the skin, moving a bit to get a better position.
"Jesus." Steve moans a little, his fingers lightly gripping the sheets below. Samantha hears him and the noise made small butterflies appear in her stomach.
As she continues, pressing harder in certain areas that were a bit tougher to get, Steve was moving slightly, grunting at the pain that jolted through his body. But as she moved her hands back down to near his sweatpants, his breathing quickens just a bit as his hips jolt down toward the bed.
"Oh, fuck." Steve tightens his grip on the sheets, his cheeks flushing as he couldnt help but grind down on the bed once more. She could hear his moans, getting more desperate as she continues to work around his lower back.
Samantha felt her legs clench around his hips, biting her bottom lip as she knew exactly what was going on right now and she honestly didn't feel nervous or anything. They had been seeing each other for two months now and her comfort with him had only grown.
"Sam." The way her name left his lips made her eyes flutter shut for a moment, grinding just a bit down on his hips.
"Right here?" Her tone was soft as she leant down, pressing a kiss to where she was touching.
"Y-yeah, right-- right there." Steve moans loudly as he continues grinding his hips down into the sheets. Just the sight made her feel her stomach tighten in the best way but also, she felt a bit frustrated. Because she wanted to be the thing underneath him. So she stops her movements, her fingers lingering over his skin.
"Steve?" She asks him, moving off of him and this causes his hips to come to a halt, his shaky breath leaving his lips. He felt embarrassed, and part of him thought he had made her uncomfortable.
"M-mhm?" He tried to make his tone sound normal but there was no way to do that right now. Steve grabs the pillow from beside him, pressing it to his lap as he turns onto his back. His face was flushed, his eyes full of lust and it was no mystery what he was covering beneath the pillow.
Samantha makes a move before she could talk her way out of it, moving the pillow from where it was and straddling him once more. She felt the bulge beneath her and as Steve's eyes widen, she lifts her shirt over her head, revealing her lacy black bra.
Steve was silent for a moment, his jaw agape as his eyes lingered on her skin, his dick twitching beneath her. He knew what she was doing, up until now they really had only made out and even then, he was mainly the one taking any sort of clothes off.
"Woah, you sure?" He asks once he was able to speak words again. Samantha leans down, smashing their lips together as she grinds down on him. Steve moans into the kiss, his hands moving to her hips to keep her steady.
She pulls back after a moment but their lips hovered over each other. "Positive." Samantha tells him and that was all he needed to hear to kiss her again, flipping them over so that she was underneath him. She wraps her legs around his waist as the kiss deepens.
He pulls back slightly but just to kiss across her jaw and down her neck. Samantha gasps as she tilts her head back, feeling his hand slip down to her thigh, holding it against his hip as he continues to move their bodies together. His lips move down to her chest, not even hesitating to start leaving heated kisses along her skin.
Moaning, her hands move into his hair, gripping it tightly as he uses his other hand to unclip her bra and allow him access to her completely. As the room gets more heated, moans and the occasional squeak of the bed being the only thing heard, something flashes in Samantha's mind.
She moves her hands to his jaw, lifting his head up. Steve instantly just kisses her again but she only kisses him back for a second before pulling away. "Do you have a...." She glances down between their bodies, her cheeks flushing. Samantha hated how she felt embarrassed even asking but Steve didn't even blink at her question.
"Yeah, yeah, think so." Steve says, searching in his nightstand momentarily before pulling out a condom. Reconnecting their lips, Samantha only brings him closer to her as they get lost in each other, basking in the final moments of their summer together before inevitably having to go back to school.
โกโกโก
AS SHE WALKED DOWN THE SCHOOL HALLWAY, Samantha was confused to say the least. She was supposed to hang out with Steve last night, the final night before they went back to school but he hadn't shown. She didn't know if something had come up or maybe he had forgotten, but he never had before. And he hadn't called to explain so she just had to make up reasons in her head.
Although she was sure he did have a reasoning for it. Either way, she would see him today and it would be back to normal. No one knew of their relationship, they had mainly kept to themselves. But it was more so because they hadn't really talked about going public.
Samantha was gonna tell Veronica but she just wasn't sure it was gonna actually work out so she had just kept it to herself. But since the summer was now over, she did feel like she could finally come clean. Veronica would probably feel shocked and proud that she was able to keep it to herself.
Mainly because everytime she was with the girl and they saw steve, she would light up like a Christmas tree. Samantha always made some sort of excuse to sneak away for a moment and she would meet up with him for even just a couple minutes.
She was completely smitten for the man. Though if you told her this even the day before they began talking, shed think you were crazy. Because in what world did Steve Harrington want to be with her? But he did. And she had truly never been happier. Maybe because she never really got to experience what you could get from being with somebody.
Samantha was a bit upset he never showed last night though because she was finally gonna pluck up the courage to tell him she loved him which was a huge step before. She had never felt this way in her life and it scared her. But it also excited her for the future and what was to come in her life.
As she opens her locker, she puts all of things instead, honestly probably one of the few people to be glad to be back at school. Samantha always was eager to learn and it helped her get closer to the career she wanted. She worked hard, and it was going to pay off.
Looking to her left, she noticed Steve walking down the hallway with his friends. He was laughing at something they said which made her smile. Just his laughter was like music to her ears. She bites her bottom lip as she watches him, hoping to lock eyes with the man.
But as she does, her hand lifting to wave at him, he seems to just look right past her. His eyes met hers for only a split second before he was back to looking at his friends. Samantha's smile falters as he makes his way past her, not sparing her a glance or anything.
Had he just not seen her? That had to be it right? Because there was no reason for him to just completely brush past her like she didn't even exist. Samantha felt confused as she let her eyes follow the man, watching as he stopped at his own locker. His friends continued to crowd him but that wasn't what caught her eye.
Nancy Wheeler had made her way over to him which only added to the confusion. She didn't even know they spoke. But what surprised her the most was when Steve beamed at her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Samantha felt her heart in her throat, feeling sick to her stomach as he looked at Nancy the way he would look at her.
The way she thought he only looked at her.
And as he leans down, Samantha felt her heart completely break as their lips connect. Steve was kissing Nancy. As if nothing had even happened between them. As if they were no longer together. But nothing had been made clear to her. She thought they were as happy as could be. Apparently that wasn't the case.
Her books drop from her hands as she was in too much shock which caused everyone to look over at the commotion. And as Steve meets her eyes, he didn't even look guilty, he didn't seem to be afraid to be caught, it was like all those so called feelings he confessed to her were never even real.
Samantha quickly bent down, picking up her books in a hurry and slamming her locker shut. She rushes down the hall in order to leave the building, trying to get out of sight as she feels the flood gates of her tears open up and start to stream down her face.
Was she right at the beginning? Had it all be some sort of sick joke? Why else would he just completely act like she never existed and kiss another girl if it wasnt? Was everything he said just a lie in order to sleep with her? Had that been his end goal?
That's what it felt like to Samantha. The moment she gave that piece of herself to him, it seemed like that was the ending of their so called relationship. Had Steve told his friends what happened? Was that why they had been laughing. Making fun of her for thinking he could even possibly think of dating her?
How could she be so naive? How could she be so stupid as to believe someone would actually fall for her? That she could actually be wanted and loved.
Would she have to sit in the same classroom as him, hear him speak to his friends so normally, make jokes like it was just another day? How could she do that when she had fallen in love with the boy. Something she never even saw herself doing.
But she had. And she desperately wished that she could make herself forget. Forget all of the memories they had made, the moments they had cherished, the kisses they had shared..... the intimacy she had trusted him with.
No, she couldn't. Because life seemed to just want to slap her in the face every single day. To make it almost impossible to want to live, to want to even make it to another day. And as she made her way to her car, she just had to silently cry to herself and just think about how everything that was said to her was a lie. From the very first day.
And that day was the one day in her entire life that she had missed school.
