emilia has always been a hopeless romantic, she blames it on books and tv shows. their happy endings a lie, but she can't help but think that maybe one day things will all work out for her. that maybe someone might be crazy enough to stand out in the rain and confess how much they love her — or that someone might sneak into her room at night when they're not meant to. she's a sucker for cliché's. emilia knows that the kind of stuff that happens in movies never occur in real life, but there's nothing wrong with hoping — right? though the whole break up with her ex has left her feeling broken and dejected. she's done nothing but watch movies with unhappy endings, where the guy doesn't get the girl, where everyone suffers and don't get what they wished. emilia's very much in her 'men are all shít' era — though it would take very little to make her believe in love again.

alongside dreaming of a fairytale romance, emilia acts stubborn. firm in the choices she makes and it takes a lot of effort to sway her opinion on things. she's definitely not a push over, once putting her mind to something she makes sure she achieves it. whether it's to do with school, people or other external activities. she takes on challenges happily, finding it somewhat pacifying to find a solution for issues that others consider impossible. she's a great problem solver, and if she hadn't discovered journalism, emilia's convinced she would have made a wonderful detective. taking after her father with her passion for solving issues, her parents are a huge inspiration and the reason she's so motivated to make changes and remain adamant on ideas she supports.

though perhaps her need to solve everything could be considered as a downfall. the brunette is curious, never knowing when to stop sticking her nose into things. she never stops until she knows the story. it might have been considered cute as a little child — people encouraging her to follow her intuition. finding her curiosity amusing. though the same people would find it irritating. despite it bring a sign that she's a hard worker, what's it worth if it annoys people? it's a habit that emilia's trying to change, but it's easier said than done. to her, it's both fun and intriguing to find out information on matters she isn't supposed to know about. secrets are thrilling and there's nothing better than learning a secret she's not meant to know about.

often times, emilia channels her intrigue through research and collating information. when exploring a topic or idea that she finds interesting, emilia gives it her all. she gets lost in her research, finding herself at peace and 'within her element' whilst doing so. it was one of the many reasons she chose journalism — there are so many undiscussed topics out there that need more attention and focus, something which emilia aims to bring to the world's attention. she's as passionate about her work as she is about her relationships and how she loves. her need to know things may annoy the locals and neighbours, but the greater public loved it. there's nothing emilia enjoys more than reading through comments and opinions on her work. she's always looking to improve, both herself and her work ethic.

two months after mark and cynthia carrington's wedding came the birth of their eldest daughter, emilia rose carrington. she was a love child, born out of wedlock. their parents weren't too pleased to find out that cynthia had gotten pregnant — so her parents ran away. moved to the town of dawn hallow, bought a pretty house and raised their daughter. they had decided that they couldn't wait till after emilia's birth to get married. it was rushed — but an event her parents look back at fondly. their marriage was her greatest inspiration. she wants a love like theirs — perfect in the eyes of strangers, but flawed in an intricate way. the way her parents look at one another, so full of love and devotion is exactly what she wants for herself. the carrington family are a tight knit family, close in every sense. her mother, cynthia knowing almost every detail of her life. she shares common hobbies with her father, and every sunday they spend a day bonding over something. her parents are the inspiration behind many things that emilia does. they encouraged her to voice her opinions, to stand up for herself when no one else will. they taught her to be open to new things, to try understand others and to tackle challenges. not a day goes by where she isn't grateful for their involvement in her life. they shielded her from things — but never restricted. she was always aware of the real world and how nasty it is, the only difference is that her parents stopped her from making mistakes. they supported her when things were tough, helped when she needed help.

though unfortunately their protection and advise wasn't enough to stop her from getting her heartbroken. emilia fell in love with the mayors son. it was a pure kind of love, a perfect kind of love — or so she thought. he was perfect in her eyes, not a visible flaw. he had her parents fooled with the very same idea. they dated for over a two, and every day emilia fell harder for him. his smile and tender touches, the way he would talk to her. not long after, rumours began to circulate. girls claiming to have slept with him, to have been with him. blinded by love, emilia refused to believe the rumours. it wasn't until she saw it happening with her own eyes, at a party she had attended in an attempt to surprise her boyfriend. her whole world had come crashing down within instants. it was a crushing blow and definitely effected her future decisions. emilia had been lucky enough to be graduating within a couple months — so after breaking up with him, she put up with all the shit people gave her. emilia didn't glance back once when deciding to move closer to the university she was to attend.

after graduating uni, just about two years ago, she moved to the big city in hopes and aspirations to find a well paying job, at a good firm. apparently it's harder said than done. emilia works for a small publishing firm where she writes short articles in hope of one day making it into the big leagues.
