I'm so happy they didn't kill Jasper off in the first few episodes

The fact that I've gotten over seven chapters out of the first few episodes astounds me.

Also, the gif omg

Clarke and Wells went over to the tree to help Finn and Murphy lower Jasper from the tree, leaving me standing alone.

Well, almost alone. I would've preferred alone.

"So, the murderer has a heart," Bellamy snickered to himself, acting as if he wasn't stepping closer so that I would hear.

I decided not to play into it as easily this time, ignoring his comment and just focusing on Jasper. They almost had him down, thankfully. He also seemed to still be breathing, which was a good sign.

I still didn't understand why they had given him the poultice in the first place, but I wasn't about to question it if my best friend survived.

"You know," Bellamy said from beside me, "I expected you to be the last one to warn me that something was about to kill me."

Grinding my teeth, I kept from looking at him. "You're Octavia's brother. If anything happened to you, she'd never forgive us for not saving you. She's one of my best friends. So if you're going to die, do it when I'm not around."

"Yes, ma'am," he chuckled deeply.

Rolling my eyes, I sighed deeply. "Why are you acting like this is one big joke? Jasper could literally be dying, and you're over here being a jerk."

He took a moment to consider the question, crossing his arms in front of him. "It keeps me sane. I take things seriously, just not too seriously, or I'd lose my mind."

"Can't lose what you never had," I mumbled.

"Look, I was just trying to thank you for trying to help me."

Spinning on my heel, I peered up at him. "You calling me a murderer again didn't sound like a thank you. And maybe next time, I'll help you like you helped Clarke. What the hell was that? She could've died."

Shaking his head, he laughed lowly. "None of you are listening, we need to get rid of those wristbands. Do you really think that they're just going to let us live free when they get here; just forgive all our crimes?"

"Well-"

"You murdered someone, Sutton. Do you think that they're going to let a murderer roam around free? Because I don't."

My throat tightened as I stared into his eyes. He wasn't trying to play me, he honestly thought this. But why? Why would he care? Octavia hadn't done anything bad enough that they wouldn't give her a second chance down here.

But Bellamy, what had he done?

"What's this really about?" I asked, squinting.

His eyebrows pulled together as he ran a hand through his hair, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Placing my hands on my hips, I didn't let up on my stare. "You said you were a guard, and if they were going to send escorts down they would send more than one. So, how did you end up down here with us, Blake?"

Before he could answer, Finn and Murphy were making their way back over to us, holding Jasper up between them.

"Oh, my god," I gasped, running over to meet them halfway. I felt myself smile when I saw his chest moving, suggesting he was still alive. "We're gonna get you back to camp, you're going to be okay," I whispered to him as I placed a hand on his cheek.

Wiping my eyes, I turned around. "Let's go, the sun's starting to go down and it'll be dark soon. I don't know about you guys, but I don't want to wait to see if there's more of those panthers waiting for us."

I felt Bellamy's eyes on me as I walked in the direction of our camp.

We made it back to camp in about two hours, maybe less, and it was pretty dark by the time we were there.

"They're back!" One of the hundred shouted as we walked in. Finn and Wells carried Jasper carefully through our makeshift camp and towards the Dropship.

They had both been so great, carrying him the whole way. Clarke and I helped out here and there since it was a long trek, but Finn and Wells did most of the hard work.

Whilst us four were taking care of Jasper, Murphy and Bellamy had found something to wrap up the animal and carry it back in.

When asked why, Bellamy had simply replied, "Dinner."

Clarke led Finn and Wells up the ramp of the Dropship, careful not to trip over anything on the ground.

Monty ran up to us, looking concerned. "Is he. . ." he began to ask.

"He's alive," I was quick to answer, not wanting him to think that our friend was dead.

Clarke pointed to him, "I need boiled water and strips of cloth for bandage.

Monty nodded, going to get what she had asked for without question. On our trip Clarke had opened up a bit more about herself. The only reason why I was letting her touch Jasper was because she said that her mum was Abigail Griffin.

Abby was the doctor back on the Ark. I had visited her a few times and she seemed like a nice person. Nicer than the rest of the Council who she worked with.

Clarke said that she had helped her mother on multiple occasions, so I trusted her. If she was anything like Abby, then Jasper was in good hands.

As we walked into the Dropship, Murphy and Bellamy dropped the animal onto the ground, resulting in cheers from the kids who were bound to be hungry after such a long day. The Ark hadn't even bothered to provide us with any form of sustenance, so we were completely on our own.

"Who's hungry?" I heard Bellamy shout from within the Dropship.

Shaking my head, I helped them get Jasper inside and lay him down somewhere. When Monty arrived with the water and clothes, Clarke started by cleaning him up a little.

"Is he going to be okay?" I asked shakily.

She seemed surprised at my concern. I guess everyone was realising the murderer had a heart today.

"The poultice they used has done a good job, but it might not be enough. I'll do my best though."

We sat quietly as she wiped his face, and I felt myself inclined to speak to her again. "Thank you, Clarke," I said sincerely. "He's my best friend, I don't know what I'd do without him."

"I thought Octavia was your best friend?" She asked curiously.

I shrugged, "Octavia and I were roommates in the Sky Box, sure. Jasper and I; we've known each other since school. He helped me pick up my chemistry grades, he was really good at it," I laughed.

Finn joined us in the Drop Ship not too much later, kneeling down beside Clarke. "You should go grab something to eat before it's all gone, Theo. It's been a long day."

"I don't know," I began. "Jasper-"

"We'll look after him," Finn reassured me with a smile. "I promise."

I was hesitant at first, but then I felt my stomach rumble. Plus, after everything Clarke had done to help him so far, the least I could do was trust her to keep him alive while I was gone. "Ten minutes," I said as I stood up and headed outside to get some of the food the others were cooking on the bonfire.

As I was about to search for the food, I found that I didn't have to. Behind the meat which was beside the fire, was a long line of kids. I saw Maeve and Carter standing towards the back.

"What's going on here?" I asked them.

Carter informed me that Bellamy and his gang were forcing people to exchange their wristbands for a cut of the meat.

Turning angrily on my heel, I ran back up the ramp, "You guys need to get back out here, we have a problem."

Finn and Clarke exchanged looks before Finn followed me out. We stood beside each other, watching it happen. I didn't have to explain anything to Finn, I could tell by the disgust on his face that he knew exactly what was happening.

Not long after, Clarke was joining us. "He's stable for now, but without medicine. . ." she didn't finish, taking in what was going on around us. "They're taking off their wristbands for food?"

"Bingo," I confirmed. "Idiots."

Clarke shook her head, "No way. I- I won't do it."

"Me either," I agreed. I owed Clarke something for saving Jasper. She had definitely earned some gratitude.

"We won't have to," Finn said, sounding dazed as he thought. He then walked forward and grabbed a stick with a big wad of meat skewered on it. He and Murphy had quick words, before Finn walked off, Clarke in tow.

Throwing my hands up, I let them drop at my side. "I guess I'll get my own then," I mumbled to myself.

Stepping forward and grabbing a skewer, I saw Bellamy eyeing me carefully. I raised my eyebrows in challenge, basically asking 'what are you gonna do?' And to my surprise, he didn't do anything. Just looked away.

A boy on the other side of the fire went to grab one also, only to be welcomed with Bellamy pushing him away and punching him in the face.

Clenching my jaw, I went over to the boy and handed him my skewer, my eyes not leaving Bellamy's as I did so.

The boy accepted it gratefully, leaving to share it with his friends.

When I went to go and grab a replacement one, I was stopped by Murphy. "One per person, killer. Sorry."

I heard murmuring amongst the crowd surrounding the fire and I could feel my cheeks begin to go red. Not everyone had known that I was that girl, and I liked it that way.

But now Murphy had gone and outed me to the whole camp. People were staring, some even taking a step back. Most of them were here for stealing or getting into fights; none of them had taken a life before that I knew of.

"Move, Murphy, or I swear-" I mumbled.

"What?" He stood his ground, crossing his arms. "You'll kill me? Like I said, one per person."

People among the crowd laughed at how Murphy was talking to me. Hell, even the kid who I had given the skewer to had joined in.

"So much for honour amongst thieves," I put my hands on my hips, trying not to make it seem like I was breaking.

Murphy stepped closer, looking down at me. "But you're not a thief, are you, Theodora?"

For those in the crowd who weren't sure what Murphy had been talking about beforehand, this seemed to clear everything up.

Everyone had heard about what had happened in my home that fateful night. Well, they had heard what the Guards wanted them to at least.

They just weren't able to put a name to a face until now.

Bellamy stepped forward, patting Murphy on the shoulder. "All right, I think that's enough. She gets the point. Don't you, Sutton?"

My jaw clenched as I glared at him and Murphy. King Bellamy and his court jester. I only wish it had been them that I had killed to be thrown in the Sky Box.

Storming over to the boy Bellamy had punched, I snatched the skewer back and left.

No one else tried to take any more skewers out of fear of Bellamy, who just watched as I walked away from him without answering.

Taking my skewer, I retreated back to the Dropship to be with Jasper. I wasn't going to be treated like they had treated me back on the Ark here as well. This was supposed to be a new beginning for me. For all of us.

And yet, we had to keep dredging up old things like why we were sent here.
If these kids couldn't even look past what I had done, how were the adults supposed to?

Had Bellamy been right when he said it was best to leave them in space?

✦✦✦✦✦

It had been three days since we had returned with Jasper, and the poultice was no longer working as well as it had been the first day when we found him. Jasper's health was declining; he now had a fever and was shaking.

While I had been eating that first night, he had slowly been getting worse. I hadn't left his side for over the three days besides going to the bathroom. Monty had stayed as well to work on the bracelets to try and get them to communicate with the Ark.

Clarke and Finn brought us food and water and kept us company, but Jasper still wasn't getting better. I wiped his brow and gave him water, but I didn't know what else I could do.

Clarke began to stop by more often, and when he got much worse, she just stayed.

"His pulse is three-eighty," Clarke told me and Monty as she held her fingers on his wrist and timed the beats on her watch.

I pulled at the sleeves on my jacket nervously, "Clarke, what are we going to do? It's been three days."

Jasper groaned in pain, the noise echoing in the silence of the Dropship.

"Shut that kid up!" A boy shouted from within the ship somewhere.

As Jasper continued to moan, people kept shouting. "Quiet!"

"Don't listen to them," Clarke whispered to the boy. "You're gonna make it through this, okay? Promise." She ran a hand down the side of his face. I was glad that she was there with me.

I knew Clarke about as well as I knew Monty, but Monty was quiet. I don't think he trusted me yet.

"Can he just die already?" Someone shouted.

Clenching my fists, I yelled right back, "You'll be the dead one if you don't shut up!"

Clarke placed a hand on my shoulder, before climbing to her feet, "I'm gonna get clean water. Keep an eye on him."

Monty and I both nodded as Clarke climbed down the ladder to go outside and Monty crawled over, rearranging Jasper's bandages. The boy groaned louder than he had before, almost shouting.

My hand came to my mouth, trying not to gasp. He was in so much pain.

I sat up against the wall near Jasper's head, running my fingers through his hair. "You're stronger than this," I whispered to him. "Please. I can't be down here without you, J."

Settling in for the night, I shut my eyes and attempted to turn off my mind. But, all I could see was Jasper being struck with that spear and all the blood.
