𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫. where did our humanity go?

some of you are very odd
AND THE CRUELTY FACED BY THOSE IN THE SPOTLIGHT.

ੈ✩˚⊹ it is beyond me how easily we forget the humanity of others, particularly those who live in the public eye. there's a curious phenomenon that occurs when we see someone through the lens of a screen, their lives dissected and reassembled into narratives that fit our biases.

celebrities, these distant stars in the cultural cosmos, are reduced to mere characters in an ongoing drama, stripped of the nuance and complexity that define the human experience.

it's strange how the anonymity of the digital world emboldens cruelty, making it easier to hurl insults at those we've never met.

dislike for a character they portray bleeds into disdain for the person themselves, as if the lines between fiction and reality have blurred irreparably.

why do some of you forget that behind the glamour and the crafted personas lie individuals with fears, dreams, and insecurities — people who laugh, cry, and feel just as deeply as anyone else.

why do some of you so willingly participate in this dehumanization? is it because it allows you to feel superior, to deflect from your insecurities by projecting them onto others? or perhaps it's the illusion of intimacy that lulls you into believing you know them when in reality, you, and just like the rest of the world, are privy to only fragments of their lives.

these are people with stories as rich and varied as our own, deserving of empathy and respect.

in this age of endless connectivity, where every image and moment is captured and broadcast for the world to see, the public eye has become both a spotlight and a magnifying glass.

this obsession with physical perfection is peculiar as if being in the public eye demands adherence to an unattainable ideal.

every wrinkle, every perceived imperfection, becomes fodder for discussion and derision. the very traits that define our humanity — our diversity, our uniqueness — are critiqued as if they are defects to be corrected.

we forget that these faces, so familiar yet distant, belong to people who are no different from us in their vulnerability.

the reason why i'm speaking about this is because i came across a remark that stopped me cold.

the comment, dripping with disdain, criticized her in a way that was not only unnecessary but deeply cruel. i sat there, baffled, wondering what compels a person to spew such vitriol toward someone they have never met.

the character mary mouser portrays, with all her flaws and complexities, seems to have blurred the line between fiction and reality for this individual. it's as if the emotions stirred by the narrative have become so overwhelming that they have sought a scapegoat in the actress herself.

if you cannot differentiate between fiction and reality and separate the actor from the character they play, then you have no business consuming that piece of media because obviously, you are not mature enough.

what strikes me as particularly odd is the ease with which people dehumanize others from behind the safety of a screen. it's as if the anonymity provides a license to unleash our darkest thoughts, forgetting that there is a real person on the receiving end.

the words you type, fleeting and intangible, can leave wounds more lasting than those made by physical blows.

i hope mary knows that beyond her roles on screen, she is recognized for who she truly is: the sweetest human being with the biggest heart the universe has to offer. observing her interactions, it becomes evident that she is more than an actress; she is a beacon of warmth and kindness in a world that often feels cold and indifferent.

her capacity for empathy practically radiates through the way she engages with others, whether they are colleagues, friends, or fans. in each smile, each word of encouragement, she extends a piece of herself, a reminder that genuine connection transcends the superficialities of fame.

in my own life, i find myself aspiring to emulate her generosity of spirit. i want to be someone who spreads love with the same openness and sincerity that she does, someone who recognizes the power of words to heal rather than harm.

it costs nothing to be kind to others.

much love,
