You have a way of coming easily to me
And when you take, you take the very best of me
So I start a fight 'cause I need to feel somethin'
And you do what you want 'cause I'm not what you wanted
Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
Ain't no use defending words that you will never say
And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you
You put up the walls and paint them all a shade of gray
And I stood there loving you, and wished them all away
And you come away with a great little story
Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you
Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
Ain't no use defending words that you will never say
And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you
You never did give a damn thing, honey
But I cried, cried for you
And I know you wouldn't have told nobody if I died, died for you
Died for you
Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Oh, every smile you fake is so condescending
Countin' all the scars you've made
Now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

Cold As You is about a partner who's, you guessed it, cold, distant, and emotionally unavailable. From the very first line, it's direct and to the point.ย
In the first verse, Taylor wanted to feel something in her relationship, even if it was anger, as it was better than nothing, which was why she started a fight. However, the subject just did whatever he wanted, and didn't spare a thought for her because, Taylor felt, she wasn't who he wanted. She wasn't the person that he actually liked.
In the chorus, "What a rainy ending given to a perfect day"ย is kind of like the horrible ending to something that, to her, actually was nice. The next lines, "Just walk away//Ain't no use defending words that you will never say"ย is about how Taylor decided that she couldn't bear it anymore, and left because the realized that he was never going to say those words that she wanted to hear, the 'I love you', and it was pointless to keep on insisting that he would, and to stay with the hope that he would say it when it was clear there wasn't a chance he would.
The second verse starts with Taylor describing the subject 'putting up walls'. He was locking himself and his heart away, not showing Taylor any emotions. Then, he "painted them all a shade of gray". Gray is considered a dull, demure color, but it can also be depressing. It's impartial, dampening on the emotions, and Taylor is saying how the subject made himself really disconnected from her. But she was naive, still aching for love, and so she stayed and loved him, hoping for his love back, trying to wish the walls and gray away. However, it didn't work out, and as we see in the next two lines, "And you came away with a great little story//Of a mess of a dreamer who had the nerve to adore you", Taylor is reflecting on how after the relationship ended, it probably meant nothing to him, and, in her mind, he most likely just retold that story at parties for entertainment and laughs. The 'mess of a dreamer' in the last line refers to Taylor, and how she loved him. The way she phrased it as "had the nerve to adore you"ย implies that, after thinking about it, he seems narcissistic and arrogant to her.
The bridge is cold, pointing fingers, as she sings about how he didn't do anything, but she cried over him, she cared so much for him, loved him so much, but he didn't care. She's singing about how even if she died for him, he wouldn't have cared, wouldn't have told anybody because it wouldn't have mattered to him.ย
Finally, the chorus is altered the last time she sings it, as the third and fourth line are changed to "Oh, every smile you fake is so condescending//Countin' all the scars you've made". These two lines are about how the subject would fake smiles, fake emotions, and to Taylor it was really condescending, arrogant, as he mocked her for loving him. She then moved on to talk about how that hurt her emotionally, and he left behind scars on her self-esteem, emotional and mental state. So as Taylor was reflecting, she thought about every single time he left a scar on her with his distance, his coldness.
