chapter sixty two

At some point, Adena went back to the Great Hall, leaving Regulus behind with his team and teacher to celebrate some more. However, she didn't expect to get some glares coming from the Gryffindor table. Her sister, Sirius, as well as some people she didn't know. Their disappointed faces looked even more disappointed when Adena appeared. They had probably witnessed the exchange between her and Regulus, the one who had made them lose, but she didn't care. She was proud of her boyfriend and she wouldn't hide it.

"You got yourself some enemies..." said Jade as Adena sat in front of her.

"I don't care," said the girl sternly as she got rid of her scarf to eat.

"Of course, you don't care," laughed Isaac at her side.

"Adena! Your boyfriend is really good I'm raging," groaned Jacob sitting next to Isaac.

"I know. By the way, he's so good that Slughorn invited some Quidditch players to his party tonight. And Regulus agreed to give you his place to have a talk with them."

"What? Really?" asked the boy, looking at her with shining eyes.

"Yes dummy. He's not interested in becoming professional anyway."

"Really? He's so good, he's missing a real chance to become a famous Quidditch player. Why would someone decline such an offer..." murmured thoughtful Jacob and Adena tensed up. She knew exactly why he wouldn't accept the offer. She ignored the strange looks from the others who probably had their own suspicions on the subject as well.

"Anyway, that's better for me," concluded Jacob.

"Guys, maybe you'll want to come tonight. I don't think Slughorn would mind," said Eugenia.

"Hm, no thanks, from what you said it's boring. as hell"

"Jade, Noah, Millie and I will stay in the tranquility of the common room," added Isaac.

"It seems like it'll be three of us then."

"I'm so excited now," exclaimed Jacob while eating.

Both Eugenia and Adena laughed, because they knew how far from entertaining these parties could be. But they felt happy that Jacob was getting closer to his dream, nonetheless.

Like every Saturday afternoon, Adena stayed with Regulus in his room. The Slytherins were still so excited when they both entered the common room, so they were happy to find the calm of his bedroom.

"Not all Slytherins are coming tonight, right?"

"No, Slughorn only asked for the team to come and the usuals you know."

She hummed while climbing on his bed and getting out her stuff to start any homework she had late.

"Still working," he groaned, placing his head on her lap.

"At least I work, unlike you," she said sternly in response and her hand started its gentle movements in his silky locks.

"Now that Quidditch's finished I'll be more serious in my homework."

"You better. I didn't think you'd be lazy like that."

"I'm not lazy, I just decide to do my homework at the last moment."

"Tch, and you still get good marks."

"Yes, I do," laughed the boy.

Adena and Eugenia were quickly preparing themselves for Slug Club's party since Jacob had menacingly warned them to not be late.

"Oh, that dress looks cute on you. It's from your parents?" said Millie who was laying in her bed with Jade, both eating some liquorice wands while the girls were preparing themselves in a rush.

"Yeah, got it for Christmas," she said, while putting on her shoes.

"Does this look good?" asked shyly Eugenia. She was wearing the tight black dress she had bought with Adena.

"You're hot Eugenia!" exclaimed Jade making the others laugh.

"I must admit that I look pretty good yeah," she said turning around to look at her reflection in the bedroom mirror.

"Is this for someone?" suddenly asked Millie curiously.

"No! Of course no!" blurt out Eugenia, betraying herself nonetheless.

"Can we go now? I don't wanna be murdered by Jacob," muttered the young girl as she placed her hair-clip into her brown hair. She couldn't help but smile when listening to their conversation however.

"Yeah, we're good. Hope it won't be too boring without us," laughed Eugenia as she left the room after Adena.

"Finally! I've been waiting for a century, at least," exclaimed an impatient Jacob as he caught sight of them.

"Chill, it starts in five minutes."

"Being early makes a better impression."

"You'll make a good first impression with that suit only don't worry," told him Eugenia.

"I chose the best one so I better do."

They arrived at the party after ten minutes of walking in the castle. Many students and guests were present, so their little lateness wasn't noticed.

"You're here finally," muttered Regulus who had suddenly appeared before the three. "I had to hide so Slughorn wouldn't bring me alone to his guests."

"Sorry, Eugenia's pretty slow," Adena gave him a little apologetic smile.

"Hey! You're even slower!"

"Shut up, he's coming!" whispered Jacob as their teacher came their way.

"Oh, Miss Winsten, Miss Hawlins and Mr Black! You're finally here. And who are you?" he asked, looking confused at Jacob.

"Jacob Brett, sir. I used to have potions classes with you until last year."

"Oh really? I can't remember. Whatever. Regulus my boy, come here," he said, pushing a little Regulus who was followed by the others. Adena and Eugenia laughed quietly behind while Jacob sent them a death glare.

"Conrad, Stuart, here's the boy I mentioned," exclaimed cheerfully Slughorn as they came back to the two men. They were tall and well-built and must have been in their early thirties.

"Hello Regulus, I'm Conrad Dobell, keeper and captain of the Tutshill Tornados, as you must already know."

"And I'm Stuart MacMillan, one of the chasers." They both shook Regulus' hand who nodded politely.

"Well, I'll let you have a little chat," said the teacher, looking satisfied. "But before that, Miss Winsten, Mr Black, here's what the photographer gave me." With a small chuckle, he handed Regulus a photograph of him with his team that was taken this morning, and to both, he gave an identical photo of them together. He then left to his occupations.

On the photo, Adena was smiling brightly while they were in each other's arms, moving a little into the other's embrace. Regulus looked happy as well as he regarded her. Upon seeing this, the girl blushed, and Jacob and Eugenia chuckled.

One of the men started talking while she was still looking at the photo.

"We've heard a lot about you, that old Slughorn is really hopeful regarding your future."

"I told him I wasn't sure about my projects yet."

"Oh, so nothing's set then? But from what I heard you're really good," continued the captain.

"Apparently, but here, I brought you one of my classmates who's a really talented Quidditch player as well," said Regulus turning towards Jacob who looked at him, a little shocked. "He's known as one of the best chasers in the whole school."

"Really? Nice to meet you young man, what's your name?" asked Conrad Dobell as he reached out his hand for Jacob to shake it.

"Jacob Brett, sir. I'm your biggest fan!" exclaimed the boy with shining eyes as he shook both of the men's hands.

The two men laughed before Conrad Dobell continued, "Are you interested in becoming professional? What are your qualities Jacob?"

Jacob stayed silent, not expecting that, he started thinking about a good reply. The girls were surprised it took him that long since he was usually the first to boast about his qualities. And so after some seconds Regulus unexpectedly spoke up again.

"Adena, right here," he said turning to the girl, "has told me a lot of good things about Brett. For example, that he was very fast, very confident and determined, as well, isn't that right Adena?"

"Yes exactly, and Jacob's very passionate, sir."

"Hm, interesting, right Stuart?"

"Yeah, I think we should have a longer chat with you."

"We'll be leaving then," said Regulus.

"Don't hesitate to contact us if you're interested."

"I won't forget, thank you sir." He addressed them a polite smile before turning around and Adena and Eugenia followed behind him while giving an encouraging smile to their friend.

"That's really great what you did for him," suddenly said the brunette.

"I did my best to convince them."

"That was very convincing!" exclaimed Eugenia.

"Yeah, he's probably over the moon right now."

"Now, we should stay far from Slughorn," he said directing himself to the buffet.

"Oh yes, I'm so hungry," whined Eugenia before starting to eat some food displaced on a large table.

"Me too," added Adena, eating as well. The three of them ate for a while, talking a little in the meantime. They realized it wasn't more entertaining than Slughorn's usual dinners. And so, they stayed at the food table until Jacob came back.

"How was it?" asked Eugenia excitedly.

"That was great! I think they like me! And they told me to contact them by the end of my studies! I'm so happy, Imma cry!" exclaimed the boy. "Oh, and thanks mate, that means a lot to me!" added Jacob, speaking to Regulus.

"I did my best."

"No, you did amazing! And Adena, is that true you talked about me?" asked Jacob with shining eyes.

"Kinda..." said the girl hesitantly. Sure, she had talked about Jacob but not that much. Regulus sold Jacob in the best way possible.

They spent the rest of the evening all together, in a corner of the room, and surprisingly managed to avoid Slughorn for the next hours. When their teacher told them they could go back to their common room because of curfew, Adena walked a little with her boyfriend before returning to the Ravenclaw tower.

"Do you want to attend the Slytherin party tonight?"

"Yeah, I'd like to. Should I bring my pajamas since I ended up sleeping with you last time?" murmured the girl with a small smile.

"It'd be better in case you plan on sleeping there."

"I don't know, only if you invite me..."

The boy sighed, before replying with a smile, "Would you like to sleep at my dorm tonight?"

"I'd like that yeah."

"Okay, let's do like last time then," and he stopped as he said that.

"Okay, see you later..." Regulus gave her a little kiss on her lips before leaving her to go back to his common room, Adena doing the same.

When coming back to her common room, the girl noticed her small group of classmates discussing by the fireplace, Jacob, especially, babbling excitedly.

Adena went to sit with them, greeting them while Jacob continued his ranting about the meeting, he had with two of his favorite Quidditch players. Everyone was aware of his passion for the sport and how much he wanted to make this his career.

They all talked for a while, enjoying the quiet night together to talk about everything and anything. The brunette even felt a little bad when she left them to go change since she was enjoying their company very much. She put back on more casual clothes before leaving, with her night clothes of course.

She loved being with her friends, but the girl couldn't help feeling overjoyed when she was in Regulus' presence again. He had so much effect on her she didn't try to suppress her feelings of euphoria blooming inside her when he was there. The fact that she didn't have to leave him at some point and that they would spend a whole night together again reassured her a lot. Adena really loved being with Regulus more than anything.
