chapter sixty

Third weekend of March; spring was slowly approaching even if nobody would dare go out enjoy the first rays of sun since the wind was wild. It was also Hogsmeade day. But as often, Adena didn't really want to go.

"Adena, why don't you go on a date at Hogsmeade with your boyfriend?" asked her Millie during breakfast.

"On a date? At Hogsmeade? That's not really our thing," replied the girl.

"Did you ask him?"

"No, but I don't think he would be into those things. He has practice today anyway."

"Are you two really a couple? You don't do couple things!" snorted Eugenia.

"That Black doesn't know how to treat a girl," added Jacob.

"At least he doesn't make corny jokes that would make anyone run away."

"Tch, nonsense, that's my natural charm. I can attract anyone," scoffed the blond. Without thinking, Adena's hazel eyes fell upon Noah, sitting in front of her, who was listening carefully to his every word. She wanted to laugh at him.

After breakfast, they all left as the brunette joined Regulus by the exit door that led to the park.

"Hi," she whispered behind him since he had his back turned around and she didn't want to scare him. Regulus still jumped slightly at her voice.

"Oh, you're there," he said turning around.

"Yeah..." she looked into his grey eyes with a small grin tugged on her lips. The boy didn't waste any more time before kissing those soft lips and she smiled wider.

"You still wanna meet at my dorms this afternoon?"

"Yes, I'll be waiting for you after lunch."

"Okay, I'll go then. See you later." And he bent down to place a chaste kiss on her cheek before leaving. Crazy how these small common gestures would still make the girl's heart flutter. Nobody had ever made her feel like this. She was in love with him and she knew it. While this feeling was foreign barely six months ago, now it was engulfing her from the inside and she felt endless love for the boy. Eugenia would say she was finally acting like a typical teenager, being stupidly in love with a boy. And she would be right.

After lunch, like she had planned with Regulus, Adena waited for him so they could go to his dorms.

"I brought some muffins for later!" he said waving two muffins in his hands.

"And I brought some homework! For now," she said waving her school bag, laughing at his bored face.

"Adena, seriously, when aren't you working?" he said, leading her by placing an arm around her shoulders.

"At night. But the real question is when are you working?"

"At night."

"You should sleep silly..." she muttered.

"I thought you would be working late at night too?"

"Sometimes when I'm too late, I work until midnight or one but that's all. It's rare!"

"Well, not for me..."

"I swear next time, I'll drag you to library instead of you bringing me to your dorms," she grunted.

"No, you can't, I need my nap," he answered instantly.

"Okay then, I won't do my homework now and instead from today we'll go together to the library until dinner."

"Ugh, okay."

And she smiled proudly.

When they arrived at the common room, Adena got some weird stares from the rare Slytherins present, still not liking that a Ravenclaw was invading their place but the girl learned to ignore them.

"Oh, you're here again Winsten?" said Ivanna Flint with a smirk.

"Yeah."

"Well, have fun you two," she said waving her eyebrows up and down which strangely reminded her of Eugenia.

Regulus ignored her and just went to his room, also leaving Adena behind.

"What do you mean?" asked the girl clueless.

"C'mon, don't act innocent. Everyone in here knows you two have been doing it."

"Doing it? You think Regulus and I... Oh, well no," just said Adena with a shrug.

"What? You're kidding right?"

"No, you can ask...", the brunette turned around, looking for one of Regulus' roommates, "Burke!"

Weston Burke who was reading in a corner of the common room, looked up at them, frowning a little. Ivanna ran towards him and then spoke to him in a hushed voice.

Upon hearing her words, his brown eyes widened in surprise and turned to fix Adena behind them. He then burst into laughter before answering, "The few times I went to the room when they were there, Black was sleeping while Winsten was doing her homework."

Ivanna hummed before coming back to Adena, a little disappointed she couldn't be gossiping a little.

"Okay I trust you."

Adena laughed before saying, "You know, you remind me of my friend Eugenia."

"Hawlins? The redhead? She looks rather shy though."

"Only at first, I can assure you."

She finished her sentence then got up to meet Regulus. He was lying on his bed, and his head turned towards Adena.

"What took you so long?" he asked confused.

"Flint talked to me," she said, sitting down his side, while removing her shoes.

"Flint? What did she want uh?"

"Nothing important..." muttered the girl embarrassed.

"Nothing you want to mention I guess."

"... Exactly."

"I'll ask her anyway," he said smirking.

"No! Don't!" said Adena, her cheeks turning pink.

"Why? Is it embarrassing?" he asked, noticing the light pink of her skin.

"A little."

"But I want to hear it. Don't worry, it won't be embarrassing." He smiled kindly at her, he really wanted to hear what Ivanna Flint had talked with Adena to make her embarrassed.

She avoided his gaze as she muttered, "She thought we were doing... nasty things..." The last part was whispered but Regulus clearly heard it. He was a little surprised and stayed quiet. He also felt a little angry to hear Ivanna had made up rumors about them, but they were so ridiculous and Adena's reaction was so funny to him that he wanted to laugh.

"She said that? Damn Flint and her loud mouth," said the raven-haired male with a sigh. He then grabbed one of Adena's hand as he continued. "See it wasn't that embarrassing?"

The girl nodded her head, feeling much more relaxed. She then laid down beside Regulus, keeping her hand into his hold.

"That's annoying why they all think that when I'm just studious and doing my homework."

"Other people think that?"

"Maybe some other Slytherins. But Burke made it clear when he said you were usually sleeping while I was doing homework when Flint asked him. He even laughed... and also, my friends think that."

"Your friends?"

"Yeah, that's what they thought when I slept with you..." muttered the girl through greeted teeth.

"A bed is made to sleep in the first place. Teens nowadays, their minds always full of dirty thoughts," said Regulus ironically which made Adena laugh.

"At least, you don't seem to be disappointed with your nerd girlfriend."

"Absolutely. I prefer dating a smart girl."

"But the girls say I'm not a normal teenage girl..." muttered Adena again, with a frown.

"Really? I don't know. Am I a normal teenage boy? Do we even have a normal relationship?" said rhetorically the Slytherin.

"Eugenia thinks not."

"What uh?"

"She asked if we were really a couple since we don't do couple things."

"We kiss and hug."

"She was talking about dates and that kind of things."

"You mean cheesy things?"

"Yeah... Millie even asked why we wouldn't go to Hogsmeade for a date... would you want a date at Hogsmeade?" she asked suddenly, turning her face to look at him.

"No, I don't really care about Hogsmeade or dates in general."

"That's what I told her, that you surely wouldn't be into those things."

"I'm better here, in my calm room with my girlfriend... Wait, would you want a date at Hogsmeade?" he asked curiously.

"Not really. Actually, I told Millie that it wasn't our thing. I'm better here too."

"But still, I think next year we should have a drink at the Three Broomsticks."

"We definitely should, it'll be one of our last time doing that."

"Yeah agree..."

They stayed quiet for a while and Regulus ended up moving his head onto her stomach, getting comfortable against her and she started massaging his scalp.

A sudden question appeared in her mind, and so out of nowhere, Adena suddenly asked, "Regulus, when did you fall in love with me?"

He turned around, so he was facing her but didn't change of position, keeping his head where it was.

"A long time ago."

"A long time ago?" repeated Adena, surprised.

"I can't exactly be sure, but I know that at the end of fifth year, I was already aware of my feelings. Even Sirius noticed before you."

"Sirius? How do you know?"

"I didn't tell you, but he went to talk to me after going back from the break. We had an argument – about us, wanting us to break up and stuff – but in the end he gave up and said something like 'So, you really have been loving her all this time' and that he even had suspicions about our relationship since we were already close last year."

"I see. That's a surprise to know that but it makes me happy," she said while looking into his eyes as she caressed his face. It didn't take him too long before falling asleep under her loving touch.
