chapter seventy

The girl woke up early that day, feeling way too excited about meeting with Regulus, especially today. She wanted to look the best. She even asked her sister for advice.

"Candace... could you help me pick up an outfit please?" said the girl shyly as she entered her sister's room.

"An outfit? For your date?" The brunette nodded and Candace smirked amused as she got up to look into her closet. "I have a bunch of dresses I used to wear in fifth year, I think they would suit you the best," laughed the blonde girl.

"I'm not that small," groaned the brunette.

"When you're three inches smaller hm... anyway you have the body of a ten-years-old. You should eat more instead of lazing around."

"Shut up... just find me a dress." Adena wasn't the type to feel insecure but she didn't like to hear that, especially from her sister since she was jealous of her slender, feminine figure.

"Look, this one." She took out a fluid pink dress that had buttons on the front. "I think it'll reach your knees."

"Okay... I'll try it on then," she grabbed the dress and went to her own bedroom, quickly putting it on. She then looked at her reflection in the mirror of her closet. It fit her body, and she liked it, perfect for the summer weather. Her cleavage was a little shown, but it was her sister's dress after all. She went back to her after a few minutes.

"Candace... is it good?"

"Aw, you look cute," squealed the girl.

"Do I look like a ten-years-old?"

"Not as much as before," laughed the blonde. "Come here," she added as she got out her set of makeup.

"You know I don't really like that, and under the sun..." She tried to prevent her from doing anything, but Candace was too stubborn.

"You're as pale as ghost, you need some colors," she said, putting some light pink blush on top of her cheeks. "And this." She next took out a lipstick, putting on some so Adena's lips would look a little darker and glossier.

The young girl had a worried look on her face as she looked at her sister. "How is it?"

"Better than your zombie face for sure," laughed the older girl which made Adena frown.

"Why do you help me that much Candace?"

"You're my sister, and we rarely have that kind of moments, so let's enjoy that."

"You're right. Thank you for your help then," said the girl, smiling. Adena felt really touched.

"Even though I don't like that git, I hope you'll have fun sis."

"I hope too." She smiled again before leaving her sister's room. Candace was definitely warming up to Adena and Regulus' relationship, and it made her feel so good.

After that, the brunette was still early. She only had to put on her shoes and hair clip but that didn't take long obviously. She was really too excited about that day with her boyfriend.

Luckily for her, Regulus arrived in advance. She heard him call out her name from the entrance hall and so she didn't waste time to go meet him, instantly being engulfed by his embrace.

"I'm early, it's okay?" asked the boy into her hair.

"It's okay, I was waiting for you."

Then, they shared a sweet kiss, the sensation feeling so good after such long days. They had both wanted it so bad and they were now reunited.

"I'm so happy to see you," murmured the boy, looking into her beautiful hazel gaze.

"Me too. I felt so excited regarding this day, I hope we'll have fun," said the girl, excitement hearable in her voice.

"I'll try my best."

"I'm sure it'll be perfect in the end."

The boy chuckled a little before saying, "We're going now?"

The girl nodded, detaching herself from her boyfriend.

"And by the way, you look really good," said Regulus out of nowhere.

"Hm, thanks." That comment was unexpected, so it made Adena a little flustered.

"Come on," he said with a smile, grabbing her hand so they could Apparate at Diagon Alley.

"It's really busy again today," sighed the girl when noticing the crowd of wizards and witches surrounding them.

"Yeah, I guess some people are still doing their school shopping," he said as they started walking, hand in hand.

"Yeah. We did it pretty late last year too."

"I could have done it before..."

"But that was a good excuse to meet," laughed the brunette.

"Exactly." And he laughed with her.

She already felt happy, she couldn't help but imagine that this day would continue to be good.

As they were walking, Regulus suddenly spoke up, "I have to find a present for you."

"You didn't find anything yet?" curiously asked the girl. She wasn't that much attracted by the idea of receiving a present, but right now she was curious for a good reason.

"No, not really... actually, I have an old astronomy book at home that I discovered recently, and it made me think of you..."

"This sounds good," answered the girl.

"I can always offer it to you, but I was thinking that I could buy something better for you..."

"Regulus, I told you it was okay..." she said reassuringly but her boyfriend was a little stubborn.

"No, just... tell me what you'd like to have for your birthday," he asked in a serious tone.

The girl stared at him, her eyes a little widened in shock. She wondered if she should be honest.

"Do you really want to know what I want?" her tone sounded as serious as his.

"Yes! Tell me what would make you happy, what you'd like to have." Regulus was smiling reassuringly at her, encouraging her to let out what was on her mind.

"Well..." she started, slowing a little her pace, looking at the floor.

"Go ahead," he murmured, squeezing her hand.

Adena, looked back up at him, a determined glint in her warm eyes, and then her soft voice reached Regulus' ears. "I would like to do it with you."

Regulus completely stopped at her words, his confused eyes looking back at her. He looked simply dumbfounded. "Do it?"

"Yes. Make love to me Regulus, please..." she whispered, in a timid manner. She could feel a blush coming up her cheeks already tinted in pink.

He stared at her for a while, her words still echoing in his mind. He wasn't really expecting that from her. "Are you sure? I won't do anything if you aren't completely sure."

The girl nodded slowly. "Yes, I'm really sure, I've been thinking about it for a while, and I think my birthday is a good day. But of course, you have to want it too!"

"I'm not against it... I'm fine with that as long as you are, and as long as you're happy."

"Don't think of my happiness first... do you really want it?" asked the girl a little worried.

"Yes. I want it too," the boy answered her in sincerity.

The young girl, smiled at him, relief washing over her as she was nervous about admitting it. Her cheeks were still burning with emotion as well. "Thank you. And can I ask for something else?"

"Yeah, anything."

"Can we go fly tonight?" She had now a hopeful glint in her eyes that Regulus found so pretty.

"Yeah, let's do this if you want."

"Thanks Regulus," answered Adena brightly, giving him a quick hug.

The two of them came back at Regulus' house for dinner time. Dinner at the Blacks' was tense, thought the girl, but at least Walburga made some conversation.

"So, are you still sure you want to marry my son?"

Adena thought a little. First of all, she had never expressed the wish to marry Regulus, at least not at this specific moment, but she still had to say yes to her words. So, smiling in the politest but also most false manner, she answered.

"Of course, it's an evidence."

"Did you hear that Orion? It means we're going to have grandchildren soon," said the woman in a high-pitched voice, earning only a humming from her husband.

"Mother, I think you forget Adena isn't even seventeen yet and that we're still students," suddenly said Regulus in a stern voice which earned him a glare from his mother.

"I know that son, it's just a matter of months."

"We're not in a rush," sighed the boy. "Cissy and Bella don't have any child yet."

"Well, I'd prefer her to give us grandsons before twenty five unlike your cousins," hissed Walburga.

"I assure you, we'll have children at the right time," interrupted Adena, hoping to calm down the atmosphere.

"Oh, dear, I'm delighted to hear that. You should be as enthusiastic Regulus, I want you to continue be a son I am proud of."

"Yes Mother."

She was putting so much pressure on Regulus' shoulders who was still a teenager, Adena felt so bad he had such an inconsiderate mother. Her mother wasn't the best either, but she was much better than Walburga Black, as a person and as a mother. She even felt pity for the woman; living for the pride of her family and keeping her son under control hoping it would give him the same ideals. But Adena knew that Regulus wasn't like her.
