chapter forty seven

In the Ravenclaw common room, the party was in full swing. But Regulus and Adena were in their own world. It was like everything else had been forgotten.

"Regulus why am I not your girlfriend?" whispered the girl softly as she continued tracing Regulus' face.

"You want to?"

She shrugged, "I don't know. I don't want to hide, I want people to see how happy you make me."

"I think it's too late... I can already see it."

She looked into his eyes as he said that.

"As long as you do, it's all that matters. But I still want people to know. You're not a Black Slytherin prick. You're Regulus, you're you and you make me happy."

"Let's talk about that tomorrow."

She nodded, placing her head on his chest. How was he able he fall harder for her when he thought it was impossible.

Adena ended up falling asleep on Regulus' lap after a while, as he was brushing his fingers through her soft brown hair, Jade came up to tell him she would bring Adena up in her bed. It was in the early hours of the morning and the party had just finished when he finally left.

The next day Regulus felt tired when he woke up. Attending the Ravenclaw party until two or three in the morning was exhausting. But he enjoyed his night still. He really wanted to see her, and they had things to talk about.

Upon arriving in the Great Hall, it wasn't a surprise when his eyes didn't find Adena at the Ravenclaw table. The whole Hall was almost empty because many students had partied until late. However, he could feel some pairs of eyes following him to the Slytherin table. He glanced up, noticing a small group of Gryffindors staring at him, Adena's sister and his brother more like glaring daggers at him. He completely ignored them of course.

"I heard you snog some hottie last night, Black." Austin Wilkes had appeared at his side. He didn't even look up. Barty Crouch sitting in front him snorted hearing that.

"Where did you hear that?" said Regulus, uninterested.

"Flint."

"Damn Flint and her big mouth," muttered the boy.

"So, it's true? Who was it? I really thought you'd stay virgin and single all your life," laughed Austin Wilkes.

Just as he wanted to glare at him, his eyes found something more interesting. Adena had just entered the hall. Noticing that, the male by his side also looked up.

"It was her? I already saw her, isn't that the cutie you brought at a party?"

"Adena Winsten, if I remember well," said Barty Crouch, earning a glare from Regulus.

"You already liked her at that time? Damn Black," just said the older male, returning to his seat while laughing loudly.

"So, you snogged Winsten?" whispered the blond boy in front of him again.

"That's none of your business," answered the boy in a curt voice, trying hard to keep his calm while his housemates laughed.

The Ravenclaw table was quiet. Adena was glad they were all exhausted so she could avoid any question, but she could feel some stares on her as she ate.

"Ugh! My head! It hurts like a bitch," groaned Jacob.

"You should go see Madam Pomfrey," said the brunette.

"I should probably."

"How's your head Adena?" asked now Isaac.

"Fine actually. I'm just tired and I really want to go back to sleep right now but I have homework."

"I forgot about that," groaned again Jacob.

"Who has done the Charms essay?"

"Me and Jade almost finished it," said Millie with a gentle smile.

"Don't expect anything from me, I have one quarter," sighed Eugenia.

Jacob's blue eyes fell upon Noah whose face turned crimson.

"I... can give you mine," murmured the boy. Jacob's eyes lit up, his lips forming a big smile.

 "Really? You're the best Nono."

He seemed like his usual self, so everyone assumed he had forgotten the kiss he shared with Noah. However, they were all sure Adena hadn't forgotten the kiss with Regulus, as she was quieter than usual, and fatigue wasn't probably the only reason.

After finishing, the brunette went back to her dorms, quickly taking her stuff as she was going to study in the library there for the rest of the day. After one long hour, someone sat in front of her. She looked up and stopped everything she was doing, straightening up to face Regulus better. She adjusted her glasses on the bridge of her nose as well.

"Good morning. You're not too tired?"

"A little but I have this shit to do," she sighed looking at her Charms essay.

"You still wanna finish the Transfiguration one together? That would be less work to do for you."

"We can? Thank you, that would really save me."

"But I'm not here to talk school stuff you know," he said seriously. "Do you remember what you said yesterday?"

She nodded. "Of course."

"You really want to be my girlfriend?" he asked, an ounce of curiosity laced to his voice now.

Again, she shrugged and repeated her words, "Actually, having that status of girlfriend or relationship isn't that important, it's just that I wish it would be easy and..."

"And you want others to know that I make you happy," concluded the boy, now smiling while she just nodded bashfully. "And do you remember what I told you yesterday? That I was in love with you. Every word I said was true. And now, I want you to be mine. For real."

His grey eyes looked so serious as she stared into them, and the brunette nodded, grinning a little. She would have never expected their relationship would bloom into a love story one year ago.

"So, you're my boyfriend from now on?"

"I am, and you're my girlfriend." He smiled at her, then added, "I think we should seal this with a kiss."

He got up, and bent down, his hands cupping her cheeks as he pressed a soft kiss onto her lips.

"I have my own stuff to do."

"Okay, see you later then." She smiled up at him as he kissed her one last time before leaving her.

It seemed like the day was starting perfectly for the young girl. However, as the afternoon came, the perfect day turned it a nightmare.

Adena was sitting at the same table, continuing the same essay which was finally reaching its end. But before she could get to the conclusion, two people sat in front of her. Candace and Sirius were there.

"Hello guys."

"Hello sis," said Candace with a surprising sweetness.

"Hello 'Dena," Sirius' voice was sterner as he spoke.

"How are you? Not hungover?"

"No, I'm actually I'm fine, just tired."

"Your head's fine as well?" asked Sirius.

"Yes, no need to worry..." She was starting to get suspicious of the two. She only hoped it didn't have anything to do with last night, but of course that couldn't happen.

"Hm, Adena, I think we should have talk."

"About what?" was the girl instant's response, her expression turning into a scowl.

"I think you know it. You and Black."

"There's nothing wrong with me and Regulus," her voice rose up a little as she spat her words.

"I told you she was calling him by his first name," told the blond to her companion.

"You call Sirius by his first name too," hissed Adena, getting angrier by each passing second.

"Because we're close. We've been friends since first year. Not like you and that prick. As you told me already you barely know him... Or maybe that has changed."

The brunette's eyes went wide but returned soon into a glare that she addressed both, "Don't beat around the bush. I know what you want to talk about."

"Say it then."

"No."

"I'll do it then," interrupted Sirius. "You two kissed."

For a moment the young Ravenclaw paused. There was no need denying it, they knew, they saw. "And so?"

"Are you two dating?" Candace spoke up again, her green eyes piercing through her.

"Yes..."

"Told ya!" suddenly said the voice of James Potter who appeared from behind a bookshelf.

"So what? I don't understand what's the fucking problem!" muttered Adena, glaring at the newcomer.

"Oh, you don't? Sirius, she doesn't know!" snorted Candace, letting out a fake laugh.

"Yes, I don't know," said harshly the sixth-year.

"He's a Slytherin prick and he's a bad person! He's not the kind of guy for you."

"You don't know him! And you don't know me! And you don't know what's good for me!" she rose her voice again, tears of anger in her eyes threatening to spill.

"No, but I do! My brother has been raised by that insane woman I have for mother. He's completely blinded by her ideals! He hates your friends and your sister and idealize You-Know-Who for Merlin's sake!"

"I don't care! I don't care Sirius! Don't act like you know anything about his life when you didn't give a fuck for three years!"

"Adena. Stop now! Don't you realize how dangerous that guy is? He may not look like it but I'm pretty sure he'll join You-Know-Who's army very soon! He's evil!" now said Candace.

She looked at them dumbfounded. She was only realizing what was happening.

"Adena, listen to them, please, we do that for your safety. Stay away from him."

She turned her angered glare to James who had just spoke up.

"What? Do you seriously think you're better? None of you are better!" she exclaimed standing up, attracting several curious stares.

"I thought you weren't even into dating."

"Yeah, I don't care about dating, but it eventually happened okay?"

"Break up with him."

"No, I won't! Don't you think you can decide of my life."

"Keep your calm and sit down, we're not done."

"Oh, yes we are! I don't care about anything you have to say! You don't know anything! I like him!" Her voice cracked as she said these words, tears now streaming down her face. She grabbed her stuff and stormed out of the library. In the hallways, she passed by some students, but she pushed them away, she just wanted to go back to her room. How could people be so intolerant and stuck to their prejudices. 'They act like they care but they don't even know me, they don't understand me, they don't know what I want! Fuck them all.' Adena didn't need them. She didn't need people who couldn't understand her choices.

When she entered the common room, she ignored everyone and went straight to her bed where she let out the tears she had been holding back.
