chapter fifty four
Now that Adena, Noah and Eugenia were together, in the girl's room, they started talking about the holidays, the return to Hogwarts, their homework and one by one the others arrived. When everyone was here, they travelled to Diagon Alley by fireplace. The streets were beautiful under the snow and with Christmas lights and decorations everywhere, the young Ravenclaws were all amazed. They walked around and visited the shops that interested them the most, sweets shop and clothes shop. Eugenia obviously made Adena buy some dresses for Slughorn's upcoming dinners. They bought tons of sweets for the night. The brunette remembered she had to buy a present for Regulus' birthday which was about two weeks away. But she of course had no idea what to buy. It was not like he had talked about his tastes. He was still very secretive in her opinion. She knew he liked Quidditch but was something Quidditch-related pleasant for him? She couldn't be sure.
"Adena? Are you okay?" asked Millie.
"Yeah... I was thinking."
"About what?" said the girl, curious.
"Uh, it's Regulus' birthday in a few days..."
"Do you want help to find a present?"
"Yes! How did you guess I couldn't find any?"
"Because you're not the best to find a present," chuckled Millie.
"Well, right..." sighed the brunette.
"A gemstone!" suddenly exclaimed her friend. Adena was surprised her brain worked that fast to find an idea.
"For him?"
"Yes! It's so pretty, I love them, and it can suit a boy and it has many good properties."
Adena thought about that idea. Millie always had good ideas, so she went with that.
"We should go the apothecary, I guess they have some." And Millie nodded her head. "Guys! Millie and I are going this way!"
"Okay don't get lost!" said Jade.
The girls made their way to the shop that displayed many potions ingredients. They looked around for gemstones and found them. Adena read the little descriptions attached to them. One of them was a beautiful shiny black stone that was called Hematite. 'Calming and nourishing for the body. Enhances optimism, willpower, and courage. Good for the mind, memory.' This one seemed good.
"Millie, what do you think of this one?"
Millie came next to her to read the description. "Seems good. And it's really pretty." Adena agreed and took the pendant where was attached the gemstone, going to pay for it.
"Hope these aren't fake though," murmured the girl as they left the shop.
"I don't think so. It's a good shop."
They joined the others in the Leaky Cauldron and then went back to Eugenia's place.
"We were freezing cold while waiting for you outside, you took your time," grunted Jacob.
They had dinner when they arrived and prepared the place.
That night was really amusing, Adena had so much fun with the others. Jacob told funny stories that were really funny for once. She was glad everything was back to normal with them, it really felt good. Since they were all in better terms with each other, Adena got teased for having a boyfriend.
"Who would have thought Adena would have dated?" said Isaac with a laugh.
"For real! And you're actually nice to him!" added Eugenia.
"I'm always nice!" exclaimed the brunette, offended.
"Disagree uh-uh," muttered Jacob.
"You don't deserve my precious kindness."
"See! You can be so mean!"
And the night continued in a joking atmosphere. It was around one in the morning when they got to bed. They couldn't stay up late since they had to ride the Knight Bus to King Cross' station the next day.
As expected though, everyone was in a rush in the morning. Half of them, including Adena were still sleeping unbothered while the others were running around.
"Wake up you, lazy arses! We're leaving in an hour!" shouted Eugenia's voice in the room.
"Why is she so loud," grunted Jacob while rubbing his eyes. With his feet, he kicked lightly Adena and Millie who wouldn't wake up. "Get up before she murders us."
Adena rolled on her back, squinting her eyes because of the light coming from the window.
"Ugh, so annoying."
In the end, the seven of them all hopped at 10am in the Knight Bus. The ones who just had their breakfast had a hard time surviving the ride but luckily it only lasted some minutes and they arrived early. They all got out and had to drag their luggage to the station.
"Why are they staring at us?" muttered Adena, annoyed as Muggles gave them weird looks.
"Hm, they are not used to see people walking around in robes and capes," answered Noah. The two of them were wearing their Ravenclaw robes already since their duty started as soon as they entered the train.
Adena wasn't sure what time would arrive Regulus, but she decided to wait outside. She was sat down on her luggage, impatiently waiting for her boyfriend. The brunette kept looking up at the clock, but minutes were passing by too slowly for her.
But finally, she spotted him. Green beanie and scarf, a long black robe and carrying his luggage. He was attracting strange stares from the Muggles, but he didn't care. His eyes were only focused on one thing, one person. Adena, who had just got up, was making her way towards him. Regulus dropped his stuff and instantly wrapped his arms around her waist when she was close enough. No word exchanged, just an embrace, the need to be into each other's arms again. She let out a shaky breath when his warmth spread through her body, and so she tightened her arms around his neck, her hand gliding through his silky raven hair. Regulus' face was nuzzled into her shoulder and neck. She adored feeling him so close.
"I missed you," were his first words.
"Missed you too," sighed the girl with a smile.
They let go of each other after a few moments and he didn't hesitate to place a chaste kiss on her lips. He had missed this feeling as well, he couldn't hold himself.
They walked hand in hand through the barrier and walked together to the train. Not many people were left on the platform. As they were walking together in the hallway, heading to the prefects' carriage, someone called Adena from behind.
"Oh, hi Maylyn."
"How are you two going?" asked Maylyn giving both a bright smile. Adena smiled at her and Regulus just stared at her with a bored expression.
"Fine. Thank you."
"I want to apologize since my stubborn friend doesn't have the guts to do so," said Maylyn, referring to Candace.
"Oh, okay and?"
"I'll look for her. Come with me."
They took a few steps until reaching their compartment. Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Briella Abbott and Rosie Leyton were there with Candace. Through the window, they could see Maylyn trying to get Candace up. Once she managed to do it rather harshly, she dragged her out. In the meantime, Sirius and Regulus were having a glaring battle.
"Here's the girl, now deal with her, bye." And she closed the door again.
Candace wouldn't look up to meet her sister's glare and she wouldn't talk neither so Adena spoke first.
"What do you want?"
"Hmmm, say sorry?"
"Then hurry 'cause we have a meeting to attend," said sternly the brunette.
"Err... right so let's make this quick, I'm sorry," she said looking up at her sister. She wouldn't spare a glance at Regulus.
"Sorry for what? Being a jerk? Ignoring me? Insulting my boyfriend? Or trying to control my choices?"
"...Everything."
"Okay. See you later then." And Adena walked away, Regulus following behind quietly. The blonde girl had really irritated Adena. She looked like she didn't even want to apologize or felt guilty for her hurting words. She didn't even care about Regulus.
