chapter fifty eight

Adena walked through the corridors of the castle, wand in hand to light up the path. Being alone in the dark wasn't something she liked very much even after all this time, but she knew she was strong and that she could trust her capacities. She could also remember all the times she has been in Regulus' comforting company which had proved her the nights in the corridors were usually calm.

She made her way towards the dungeons and before arriving, she spotted two silhouettes in front of her, going the same way. They had probably sensed her presence because they turned around and Adena recognized Regulus and Ivanna. He waited for her as the blonde girl went back to the common room.

"You're earlier," he stated.

"I didn't want you to wait for me," she said, reaching his side. They reached the Slytherin common room after some minutes of walking. People looked just as overexcited as last time she came.

"They're celebrating well I see..."

"The usual."

"You don't enjoy partying, Regulus?" asked the girl with a smirk, as if expecting his answer.

The boy scoffed a reply, "I'd rather not end up like them. I don't even like alcohol that much."

They then sat down on one of the green sofas in the huge room, getting away from the drunkards.

"You're the serious type."

He scoffed again, placing an arm around her to bring her closer. "Do I look that serious?"

"Yeah, when we don't know you. I thought you were someone serious when I got to know you, it's the image you always gave off, quiet, serious, a bit aloof, almost snobbish..."

"Snobbish? I guess I got that from my parents," he said laughing.

"They look snobbish?"

"They're real snobs."

"But you're not like them, you may appear like them, but you're not really like that..."

"Many people have said I look like them, though..." he said thoughtful.

"You think it's true?"

"I'm not sure..."

"I'll have to meet them then," she said smiling at him.

"I guess you'll have to, very soon." He was frowning a little as he said that. The idea of Adena meeting his parents was not the most exalting.

"Why so?"

"So, they'll stop looking for a spouse," he finished, now looking at her.

"I see... you better tell them then."

"When I go back home. And you'll meet them after."

She hummed in agreement as he caressed her face with his knuckles, just as gently as he usually was.

"Black! No snogging in there! Get a room!" shouted Austin Wilkes who was a few feet away. He was smirking with a Firewiskey in his hand.

They both turned towards him, sending glares his way before Regulus muttered, "Ignore him."

"I'll focus on you," she said turning to face him and offering up a smile.

"Thanks for the attention then," he smiled back.

"No, thank me with a kiss."

He rolled his eyes at her childishness before giving in and kissing her for a few seconds. They continued talking for a while, while drinking butterbeers they found out. It was like they could talk for hours without getting bored of each other or running out of subjects. They, both found a strange fascination in each other that attracted them mutually. But after some moments they had to put an end to their current conversation since the Slytherins were being louder and louder and probably drunker as well.

"They're so noisy," grunted Adena.

"Black! Have fun with us, you're our champion!" said a guy that had just approached them. The brunette didn't know his name, but she recognized him as one of the beaters.

"No, I'm not in the mood," muttered Regulus, not bothering to hide his annoyance.

"C'mon, you're never in the mood," he said again, nudging him.

"Can't we leave?" murmured Adena at his side.

"We're going to the dorms anyway," as the raven-haired male said these words, he grabbed Adena's hand, the girl taking this as a hint to get up. The other guy groaned in annoyance behind them as Regulus led the Ravenclaw to his bedroom.

"Is that okay?" asked the girl, unsure.

"Yeah don't worry. No one cares and it's probably not the first time a girl enters a boy's room, and the opposite is true as well."

"Oh, I didn't know," answered the girl, really clueless which made the boy at her side chuckle. They quickly reached Regulus' room which he shared with four other boys. It was much quieter there, Adena liked this calm.

"It's very dark."

"We're deep down under the lake, we don't see the sun light here," answered the boy as he lit up some lamps with his wand.

She looked around and noticed that even the emerald and silver colors were decorating the rooms but Adena found this really pretty.

"Here's my bed," said the boy as he was going to the bed at their left while she was still admiring the place. She then followed him to where he was sitting and sat on it quietly. Comfortable enough, she thought. And she then laid down without much thinking.

"Hm what are you doing?"

"Testing the comfortability."

She then stroked the blankets, continuing her analysis as he looked at her. "It's soft."

In the end, she turned her face on the pillow before her nose was completely snuggled into it.

"What are you doing now?" he said more softly as he laid down by her side.

She lifted her head up, placing it back on the pillow, and smiling lovingly at her boyfriend.

"Checking if it smells like you of course."

"And it does?"

"Yes, it does."

"And you're happy with that?"

"Yeah..." she answered while chuckling.

"You're cute."

Adena widened her eyes upon hearing these words. It was the first time in her life she was being qualified as cute, and she wasn't expecting that from Regulus, he wouldn't usually let out such light compliments. Without realizing it, her cheeks turned a soft pink that Regulus noticed in the dim light. He caressed her hot skin while smiling softly.

"Are you getting shy when I say this?"

"No..."

"I thought so," he murmured teasingly.

"Can you kiss me..." she asked staring into his eyes.

"No, but you can kiss me if you want."

"But I prefer when you do..." groaned the young girl with a pout. She did prefer when he kissed her and also, she still wasn't very daring with that kind of displays of affection.

"But I like when you do it..." he whispered with a smile.

Adena stayed silent, her eyebrows furrowed as he kept on smiling. She ended up giving him a quick peck on the lips, nonetheless.

"That was a shy kiss."

"I told you to kiss me first, too bad if you're not satisfied with that."

"You're so childish you silly," he murmured before closing the distance between them. As per usual he kissed her so slowly and gently, as if he was appreciating every second and rediscovering every little detail of her. Adena brought her hands to his waist as he brought one of his to her hair, loving the feeling of it through his wandering fingers. His sweet scent enveloped the brunette completely and it felt so perfect to be in his arms at the moment. The gentle kiss lasted for a while before Regulus put an end to it. Adena sighed against his lips, smiling a little. However, the boy didn't stop here as he placed back small kisses on her lips again, making her smile wider.

"Happy now?" he muttered between his kisses.

"Yeah..." she chuckled, looking up at him.

He finally stopped, deciding to focus completely on the look the young Ravenclaw was giving him. He adored looking into her hazel orbs, they always held a beautiful glint whenever she was gazing at him, he felt drawn to her as her stare was so obsessive.

Barely some minutes later, her position changed a little so she could snuggle into his chest.

"I want to sleep..." she murmured, closing her eyes.

"I guess it's late... you can sleep then..."

"Here?"

"Yeah, it's totally fine," he whispered, caressing her long hair to soothe her.

"Fine for you?"

"I don't mind..."

"The others?"

"We don't care..."

She hummed in response and he straighten up to remove her shoes and his.

"Don't leave me..." she said, her half-open eyes looking at him.

"I won't, don't worry." The boy then put the covers on top of their two bodies and she snuggled again into him, letting his sweet scent and comforting warmth slowly lull her to sleep.

"I love you Regulus," she whispered at last, already half-asleep.

"Me too, Adena," he answered, placing a kiss in her hair. His face stayed there for a moment, just enjoying the light smell of strawberry emanating from her hair. He then placed his head on his hand, looking down at her face laying on his pillow and he watched her sleep. The girl looked so peaceful. Her parted lips were letting out a calm, regular breathing. He could admire her sleeping form without getting bored, she just looked so perfect in his eyes, even her small flaws became another part of her perfection. He realized once again how deep in love he was.
