( if you didn't know yet, up until the night before Kirishima lived his whole life as a dragon. This story was inspired by the animatic above uwu)

Prince Katsuki woke up the following morning feeling refreshed. He looked around and found his balcony door open. Strange. But he shrugged it off and headed over to his closet to get changed. Today he planned to visit the village with Kirishima and Deku. After he got ready, he went through the hallways to go to the dining hall.

His parents were already there reading some books and eating. Bakugou sat down and his butler placed his breakfast in front of him.

"Morning Katsuki!" Mitsuki greeted him.

"Morning."

"So, where did you and Kirishima go last night?" She asked.

"He let me ride him," Bakugou said as he ate a piece of bacon. His father choked and the maids silently laughed.

Mitsuki's eyes widen. "You meant like flying right?"

"Um yeah? What else is it supposed to mean?"

"Psh, nothing..." The queen brushed aside. "Speaking of Kirishima, where is he? You too always come down to breakfast together."

Come to think of it, Kirishima wasn't sleeping in Bakugou's room when he woke up. Usually, they shared the same bedroom.

"Maybe he went to village early..." Bakugou thought. "But he usually waits for me... ah whatever. I'll just pick up Shitty Deku then we can look for Kirishima..."

"I think he's at the village already. Me, Deku, and him were planning to hang out there today."

"Ok," Mitsuki nodded. "Oh and Katsuki.."

"Yes?"

"If you see any sketchy people walking around, let one of the patroling guards know. Yesterday at the meeting, the royals we met were... strange to say the least. So just be careful if anything happens," Mitsuki said.

"Got it," Bakugo nodded. Once he finished his breakfast, he said goodbye to his parents and went into the hallway to the blacksmith where his friend worked.

He burst through the door. "OI SHITTY DEKU WE'RE HEADING OUT!" He hollered. The green haired boy look up from his sword, startled.

"O-Ok Kaachan! Where's Kirishima?" He asked while setting down his supplies.

"He's probably at the pub with the gang. Now come on you slow ass," Bakugou shoved him out the door.

"Alright, Alright!"

The two exited the Castle and headed to the Knight Quarters to say hello to their favorite Knight, All Might. After that, they headed into the village. The town was busy today since it was a Monday. The two headed into the pub and into the back room where their friends were.

"Good morning you two! It's a lovely day isn't it!" Iida, the Knight's apprentice, greeted them. Midoriya nodded and Bakugou grunted.

"I accidently turned Tsu into a frog for a few days... seems like the spell didn't work right," Ochaco held up a frog in her hand.

"You'll get it soon Uraraka," Todoroki patted her head.

While the rest of the group was chatting, Bakugou looked around the room. No Kirishima in sight.

"Oi," Katsuki called out. "Have any of you shitheads seen Kirishima?"

"No, I haven't seen your dragon," Iida says apologetically and Midoriya shrugged.

"Well, when I was practicing my magic with Tsu yesterday, we saw something flying in the air. It could've been Kirishima," Ochaco said.

"Well, the figure glowed so we're not sure..." Tsu croaked.

Bakugou nodded. Was it possible Kirishima left him? It would explain his absence. Where would he go?

"You guys wanna walk around the village? A bunch of shops are open and I have some extra coins," Deku suggested.

The group nodded in agreement and headed out the door. Deku was right. It was super crowded and people packed the streets. They went to the market to buy some stuff. While the others were browsing, Prince Katsuki noticed 4 cloaked figures sneaking around the market. He cocked an eyebrow and tracked them with his eyes. A little bird came by and was snatched by one of the hooded figures. It soon dropped dead to the floor, all his blood drained. Another started to burn a garden with blue fire. Who were these people?

For a moment, one of the hooded figures looked directly in the eye with a hand covering his mouth. He put a finger to his mouth to signal not to speak. Bakugou shivered. He then realized these were the strange people who his mother warned him about. He opened his mouth to scream but nothing came out.

The next thing he knew, the whole city was set under attack. Bakugou looked at the scene around him. The village started to turn into blue flame, villagers rushing out of their homes and shops. A blonde girl started to kill the guards with one swipe of a knife. A blonde boy touched one of the animals and it turned into dust, being blown away in the breeze.

"Everyone! Get inside the carriage!" One of the guards yelled. A bunch of knights and citizens started to pile in the carriage, including Deku and the group. Bakugou stepped to get on but looked at the castle. His parents. They aren't in the cart yet.

He leaped off and started to sprint towards the castle.

"KAACHAN WHERE ARE YOU GOING YOUR GOING TO DIE!" Deku yelled.

But Bakugou kept moving his legs no matter how much they hurt. He pushed open the door but was welcomed by an enormous blast.

Katsuki woke up in a pile of rubble.

"What happened?" He murmured.

He looked around and everything came back to him. The attack, fire, and... explosion. Bakugou stood up and looked around. The village had turned into a pile of ruins. The houses and shops that were once there was burned and destroyed.

He stayed silent as he wandered around the village, tracing the cracks with his fingers. Bakugou turned the corner to the pub. The place where he had hung out with his friends. His throat felt dry and his stomach tightened. What was this feeling?

He quickly raced through the town. Everywhere he turned was a forgotten memory. The market where they fooled around, the knight stable where Deku, Kirishima, and him would fight, the races around the field, and the late nights he would spend with Kiri on the blacksmith rooftop.

He fell onto his back out of exhaustion. He throat felt tighter than before. His eyes began to sting and tears started to blur his vision. He sat up and let the tears trickle down onto his hands. He promised himself that he would be king someday. Protect everyone. Instead, he had lost everyone that he cared about. His family, friends, kingdom... gone. The memories were stuck in the air and Bakugou couldn't get rid of them.

He inhaled and exhaled, trying to calm himself down. He wondered, "What do I do next?"

The prince closed his eyes. Something came back to him that was an answer to his question.

It was something Kirishima had telepathically told him. "When life seems at it's lowest point, never give up. I know it seems cliche but it's true. You wanna be king right? Then take charge of the situation and embrace. Man up, and rule over the problem."

He opened his eyes and furrowed his eyebrows. His old friend was right. The past will sting and leave a bruise in his heart but he has to brush it off if he wants to move on. This is what his people wanted him to do. What Kirishima wanted him to do. Bakugou stood up and strided over to the Blacksmith shop.

"It's got to be here somewhere..." Bakugou mumbles. He then saw a handle sticking out in the rocks. He pulled it out and grinned. It had been the sword Deku had been crafting and it was still sharp. Katsuki grinned and ran over and grabbed a red cloth that was on the ground. He draped it around his shoulder's which made a perfect cloak for him.

He walked through the damaged city, head held up high. From now on, he was the King of his own life. He grabbed a stick and tied and cloth around it. Then he stuck it into the ground to let it flow in the air.

Before he stepped into the woods, he turned back around at his old life. He let out a sigh and smiled softly. The prince would come back someday and rebuild it again. But when that time comes, he'll be the king and never let his kingdom fall down.
