"if only you knew how adorable you look right now" Kageyama whispered to himself as he looked at Hinata who was asleep.

The moonlight that got through the trees made the place look magical, almost heaven-like. The jungle didn't seem as scary as it was before, the gentle rustling of the leaves calmed Kageyama down. The pond, still as clear as ever, reflected the stars. It was inviting Kageyama to take a dip in the night sky, feel the soft mid-summer breeze.

Hinata was asleep on the soft grass right near the pond, he was exhausted and fell into the slumber as he listened to Kageyama talk about the outside world. The didn't notice until he heard light snoring, Kageyama couldn't help but adore the young man beside him.

Hinata had the strength of a tiger, speed of a cheetah, he could sense danger coming from miles away - but his best qualities were his courage and curiosity. Kageyama witnessed it first-hand.

They spent the day hunting, looking for food and collecting various plants. Hinata's determination to give Kageyama good food was surreal, he ran around chasing a wild boar for hours. He wasn't even afraid of other predictors who had their eyes on the boar.

Now that Kageyama looked at him, he realized just how adorable he actually was. He looked so peaceful in his sleep that Kageyama didn't dare to move a muscle. He just sat there, admiring the sleeping boy.

His hair had been crudely cut to be shoulder length, from what Kageyama understood Hinata hated long hair for the single reason that it would get tangled in tree branches. Hinata was used to biting off his own nails to make them shorter which was extremely unhygienic, but he had no other choice.

Hinata had learned the hard way which plants have healing qualities and which ones are poisonous. He has tens, if not hundreds of scars on his body, some seemed to be treated well, the others not so much.

He survived. That's what mattered the most. Even though the jungle is a dangerous place for a child, it accepted him as one of his own. As a matter of fact, Hinata got along with other animals so well it felt like he had become a fairy of some sort.

Hinata shifted in his sleep slightly making Kageyama's breathing hitch. He looked up and started admiring the stars that peeked through the leaves.

"How are the others doing?.." Kageyama wondered. They must be searching for him, right? His family must be going crazy. Oikawa is probably having a panic attack, blaming himself for letting Kageyama go.

Yes, it was sad to think about it, but he's alive, right? That's all that matters at this point. He's alive and breathing alongside a person who knows how to survive in the tough environment of the jungle.

As a matter of fact, now that Kageyama really thought about it - this was helping him. It was healing him from the within.

How many hours did he spend crying over work he couldn't seem to do? How many sleepless nights did he have to try to finish his reports? How many times has he thought about quitting and leaving everything behind?

He was a young adult, broken and depressed, weighed down by society's norms on what he should be and what he should do. What was he supposed to do? Leave all his hard work behind just because a tiny voice inside his head kept calling him "worthless" and "incompetent "?

For the first time in a while Kageyama could relax, get his mind off the heavy thoughts and get a new start. Being lost in the jungle.... who could have thought that it would turn out so well? That it would be so healing and mentally refreshing?

Kageyama looked down only to notice Hinata staring back at him, his big eyes sparkled in the moonlight.

"I was thinking about stuff, couldn't sleep." Kageyama explained before Hinata could even do anything. "Thank you for caring about me"

Hinata sat up quickly and smiled at Kageyama before rustling his hair and rolling off to the water.

Kageyama simply put his hand on his chest, feeling the elevated heart beat. Blood rushed through his veins making the tips of his ears red and hot. He turned to Hinata just a second later, the other was walking deeper into the pond, enjoying the night breeze.

It wouldn't hurt to join him, right? Without another thought he followed Hinata, he could feel the fish swimming between his legs. For some reason, at that moment, everything seemed too magical.

Hinata looked adorable, just standing there, gesturing Kageyama to come closer. "Ah, you have no idea how much I want to kiss you right now" Kageyama thought.
