As much as Kageyama wanted to escape the burning gaze of the boy, he couldn't. The other had his eyes glued on him, he was inspecting his moves. Did he, perhaps, think that Kageyama didn't know what to do with a banana?
"Thanks?" Kageyama whispered, but the boy still didn't move. You could say that he seemed..shocked? It didn't even seem like the boy blinked at all, he just stared at Kageyama and at every single movement.
Trying to ignore the intense gaze, Kageyama peeled the banana and took a bite, he was hungry after all. He smiled slightly, the banana was so sweet. What startled him was the sound of a branch breaking. Kageyama turned his head to see the boy a few neters away from him. How did he get so close?
The boy reached out and inspected the fabric of Kageyama's shirt. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. Perhaps it seemed rather familiar. Kageyama, meanwhile, finished his banana and looked at the boy.
He was shorter than him (a/n Shorter ...ToT ), but way more athletic. The way his body was built was truly that of an athlete's. His muscles were so well defined that they almost seemed fake, especially his leg muscles. I guess running around the whole day has it's own perks. Kageyama couldn't help but notice the hardened skin on his palms, they were rough - but based on what Kageyama saw, this boy could run perfectly on all fours.
The boy then stepped even closer, feeling a bit more courageous he reached out to touch Kageyama's face and his silky hair. He once again furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and slight nostalgia. As he noticed Kageyama's eyes on him, he backed away.
"Hey, uhm, I'm not going to hurt you" Kageyama said in a soft voice. The boy looked at him for a second more before gesturing Kageyama to follow him and disappearing somewhere between trees. The other wasn't as fast so keeping up with the boys pace proved to be harder than he originally thought.
He definitely knew this area, he jumped over every branch and puddle, he even walked around a fallen nest without even looking at the ground. Kageyama, on the other hand, found himself tangled in spider webs. He wasn't sure how long they were walking, the boy was always ahead, looking back from time to time to see if Kageyama is still following him.
But soon enough Kageyama caught a glimpse of the sun, trees were no longer covering it. And not even a couple of minutes later he found himself standing near a small lake, the burning sun above him showed just how clear the lake was. So...blue, vibrant blue with fish swimming around every corner.
The boy was standing not too far away from him staring at the seemingly shallow water and smiling. However he picked up his pace once more and ran to the other side of the lake intentionally leading Kageyama to where he lived, at least permanently. A small hut is what you would call it, quite primitive with dried mud, branches and leaves being the main materials. There was not much inside, but the boy seemed...proud.
He quickly went inside and rummage through his stuff before picking something up and carrying it to Kageyama. It was a Japanese - Spanish vocabulary, it was dirty and pages were missing but inside Kageyama found a name.
Hinata Shoyo.
His eyes widened as he gazed at the boy. The other gulped and clenched his fists, he opened his mouth as if wanting to say something, but nothing came out.
"Hinata? Hinata Shoyo? That's you?" Kageyama started asking, his brain was turning into a mush. This was impossible! How could a small boy have survived for that long?
The boy opened his mouth again, his breathing quickened. "H.... He...H-Hello", he finally said. It looked like he was proud of himself for saying that one simple word.
"Hi! Oh my God. I'm actually shaking right now.." Kageyama could swear the ground below him starting shaking as well or maybe it was just his heartbeat.
It was...surreal. To survive in the wilderness for so long with nothing was pretty impossible and this boy had built a whole hut along side additional stuff. Kageyama took a good look around, yes, this boy had done a lot of work here.
First, there was a hut that could fit three people. Next, there was something that sort of reminded Kageyama of an oven, fire was definitely burning inside. Moreover, there was even a hole dug up to keep the fish alive and to wash stuff. The trees around had been partially cut and the wood was used for fire and other essentials.
Hinata was like Tarzan, that's what Kageyama thought. "You did this all... by yourself?" He asked as he turned back to the boy who simply shook his head. He then pointed upwards. Kageyama almost had a heart attack as he saw a group monkeys looking down on him. They looked like Spider Monkeys, but Kageyama wasn't too sure.
"The monkeys helped you? Do you, like, communicate with animals?" Kageyama asked in disbelief, Hinata only nodded. "Unbelievable.."
Looks like this trip just got a whole lot interesting.

Wow it took me so long to update but here I am.
My boy can speak the international animal language. I am monkey.
Also before ya'll complain - Hinata was ALONE in the jungle for so long, ofcourse he can forget how to say certain words. He hadn't spoken to anyone in YEARS.
