02 — THE REICHENBACH FALL

never underestimate the power of a false alarm.

"so you're saying that four year old me managed to get away from your psychopathic father and ended up running away from home instead?"

daniel nods lightly. "at least, that's the scenario my mother had told me. you made her real worried because she didn't know your whereabouts for almost two years."

"i think we're missing the most important point here," seungwoo glances at the both of them, a glint of excitement appears in his eyes. "you two were childhood best friends, close buddies to say the least. yet you've gone through a reunion with such horrible circumstances."

seungyoun shoves away the older boy's statement, deeming it as unnecessary. "that's not the most important thing, hyung. if my friendship with him is all that important, that means we gotta highlight the fact that i've been friends with wooseok since we were four years old. hell, i might've encountered you too because we had gotten through the same doctor appointments... that's possible, right daniel-ssi?"

daniel turns to him and nods. "i can't agree nor deny on anything. as far as i'm concern, the three of you had separate appointments with my mom, so you wouldn't get the luxury of meeting each other every week. however, we can't cross out the possibility of you guys interacting outside of your doctor appointments; perhaps in between lunch breaks? or perhaps you encounter each other at the hospital? i wouldn't know."

"regardless of whom had a special connection with each other or how we're related, i don't think that's the most important thing at the moment. i'm really curious of the person that i ended up running away to." seungyoun clasps his hands nervously. "are you sure i didn't come back to my parents? did four year old me even had the guts to do that? i don't quite remember the time in which i ran away.. and i couldn't think of anyone i would run away to."

"i could confirm the fact that you indeed ran away," daniel informs honestly. "i could because i had noticed your absence. you didn't come at the next business dinners, and that really disappointed me a lot as a child as you were the only one who was the same age as me. everytime i ask my mom about your whereabouts, she'd answer that it's better for us not to know. we don't want to risk your safety by obtaining information my father was dying to get."

"if your mother didn't know.. then who did?" seungyoun was full of questions, because he never thought he ever had the chance to runaway from his outrageous family. if he ever did took the chance, why did he come back? why did he choose to return back when he had finally found a group of people of whom he seek as shelter? and most importantly, who were this group of people?

daniel takes a deep breath to continue on with his story. "anyway, it didn't just end right there. after roughly one and a half year of seungyoun's disappearance, the tables turned once he suddenly got horribly injured in a car crash—"

seungyoun's phone buzzes inside his pocket. he grabs it to check who's it from. "it's hangyul."

both seungwoo and daniel sprang up from their seats, because apparently hangyul is the person they both put their concerns on. "what's wrong with him? why's he calling?" daniel asks with a pinch of concern.

seungyoun shrugs. he answers the phone call. "gyul-ah, what's up?"

"h-hyung.." hangyul was stuttering, but he managed to keep himself calm. "hyung.. go to the hospital now.."

"hospital?" seungyoun voice arises. he knows this doesn't mean well. "hey, what happened? just tell me, hangyul-ah."

"e-eunsang.." the situation around him sounds quite hectic, but his voice was clear enough for seungyoun to hear. "we found him outside his class.. h-he wasn't breathing, hyung.. i c-couldn't feel his pulse.. dongwook immediately called an ambulance and now we're on our way to the hospital.. the doctors say they couldn't guarantee eunsang's chances of survival because he could be stated as dead any minute now.."

"we're on our way." seungyoun quickly stands up from his seat and gestures at the two boys to follow him.

"what happened?" daniel asks worriedly. "why wasn't i informed about this? what's going on?"

"eunsang, he's not breathing." seungyoun scrummages through his bag to grab his car keys. "seungwoo-hyung, call wooseok. tell him to get his ass to the hospital. we gotta move, hangyul said he's literally in the verge of dying."

seungyoun wasn't going to risk another life of his kin ever again.

they all have gotten their hands on junho,

but not eunsang.

please, don't let it be eunsang.

everything about an unplanned crowd sparks 'something's wrong' energy for minhee.

and turns out, his guess is correct.

it was the start of lunch break, and minhee was about to head towards dongpyo's class because the latter promised to teach him chemistry, a subject in which he's so awfully bad at because nothing really appears inside his brain other than a bunch of alphabetical words scrambled into one chemical reaction. but when he reached the said class, he was greeted by a big crowd of students instead, circling something that he couldn't really see because of the huge swarm of people, even his way above average height couldn't help him to discover what's going on.

he attempted to go through the crowd, trying the best he could without pushing anyone off their feet, for the only reason he was here is because of his need to get into dongpyo's class, and he wasn't ever going to be able to do that any sooner if he didn't try to barge his way in. the closer he reached the center, the sooner he realizes that this wasn't just any crowd, and what actually happened was way worse than what he expected..

his eyes shift towards 'junho', or as what the other boys had configured, the fake junho that had taken control of the boy's body and is now trying his best to become junho. the boy was standing in front of dongpyo's classroom, his eyes locked unto the figure underneath the huge crowd. minhee couldn't help but stare at him because he knew that wasn't the real junho and he wanted to know how the 'fake junho' would react at this depicting situation just for the sake of his curiosity. what caused the huge crowd didn't even bother him anymore, his attention was somehow then transitioned to junho instead.

the boy lowers his head, folding the both of his arms as if he was contemplating. minhee examines his strange behavior meticulously. it's hard to guess whether that's the real junho or not.. but—

wait hold up, is he actually crying?

minhee couldn't believe his own eyes. right in the middle of the crowd, junho puts the both of his hands on his face, wiping away the tears that has already dampen his cheeks. he stares at the boy in confusion. why would fake junho be crying in this kind of situation?

his thoughts are immediately disrupted when suddenly an arm grabbed him from afar, pulling him out of the crazy crowd. minhee winces. "hey, what are you—"

it was yohan. yohan looks the most serious than he's ever been, and because of that minhee was able to stop himself from starting an argument. yohan holds his hand tightly. "what are you doing here? we're supposed to get going, some of the boys are already in the ambulance!"

"ambulance?" minhee turns around to stare at the crowd again. "what happened?"

"you're always that clueless, are you? eunsang was found unconscious!" yohan's tone rises as he gazes at him intently. "where are the other boys, where's dongpyo? we need to find him so we can teleport to the hospital immediately."

minhee couldn't believe his ears. eunsang? unconscious? how many times have that happened in this past week? yohan was about to pull his arm again before minhee decided to stop him. "wait, hyung."

"what else do you need to do? we need to go!"

"no.. but junho," minhee turns around again and tried to tiptoe from where he's standing, hoping for fake junho to still be there with tears unconsciously wetting his cheeks. he wanted to tell him about the strange occurrence, because he never expected this vicious and cruel 'fake junho' would ever react like that.

his heart drops when he realizes that the boy wasn't there anymore.

"what's wrong with junho? he's not himself anymore, remember?" yohan says rashly. "it's a stupid idea to have him come with us when we clearly know it's not the real junho we're talking to here. get a grip, minhee-yah! now help me find dongpyo and hyeongjun so we could get the hell out of here."

yohan's words just came out like a breeze for minhee, because he couldn't just fully believe the situation just like that. if junho really is not himself, why the hell would he cry for eunsang?
