WHEN YOUR PARENT IS FAMOUS, EVERYONE EXPECTED YOU TO END UP LIKE THEM IN THE FUTURE. That was exactly how it was for Caio Senna. He grew up around race cars, always was a fan of them and the art of motorsport. His father, Ayrton Senna, was one of the many world-renowned drivers in Formula One. Caio wanted to be like him one day.

But after a tragedy during the Imola race for the 1994 season, which cost Ayrton Senna his life, that dream of Caio's would have to be postponed and possibly canceled.

Caio was only four years old when the crash happened, so he hadn't really known his father long. He didn't have many memories with him. And now he was without his other parent, as he never had his mother around—she was a deadbeat. Ayrton's premature death had also taken a toll on Caio's cousins Bruno, Bianca, and Paula, his aunt Viviane, his uncle Leonardo, and his grandparents Neyde Senna and Milton da Silva.

For several years, both Caio and Bruno weren't allowed to go karting. Their family had banned them from it in fear they would get into an accident much like Ayrton. But after a while, they had no choice but to allow the boys to participate in the sport again.

One day, after a DNF that was caused by his sworn enemy Dennis Kaufmann, Caio had gone home as soon as possible and started working on improving his kart. Alain Prost, Ayrton's former rival and friend, had stopped by the household to check up on the family. He found Caio in the garage, a cap on his head, a pair of gloves adorning his hands, sweating running down his face, wrenches and other tools strewn about on the floor around him, the disassembled kart in the middle of the floor. The resemblance that Caio had to Ayrton was uncanny that sometimes Alain forgets that the boy isn't his former friend. In that moment, Alain didn't see Caio. He saw Ayrton Senna da Silva.

After a bit of talking to both Caio and the boy's family, Alain Prost became Caio's mentor after seeing the determination he had to become a Formula One driver one day. For years, he worked with Caio, helping him improve his skills. So, when the 2008 season of Formula One comes around, that was the big moment for Caio. His debut. Years later, Caio wins his first race: the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix, bagging several points for the Bugatti F1 team.

However, when he doesn't place for points, he tends to be extremely hard on himself afterwards. But he has to remind himself he was doing this for Ayrton. Helping his father's legacy live on.

Caio Senna wasn't going to quit anytime soon if it meant he could be as great as his father ever was and making sure no one forgets who Ayrton Senna was.

WHEN YOU COME FROM A FAMILY THAT HATED YOUR EVERY DECISION, IT'S EXPECTED THEY WOULDN'T EVEN HELP YOU FINANCIALLY. That was true for Dennis Kaufmann, whose family absolutely despised the fact he had gotten into karting and wanted to eventually become a Formula One driver. They constantly reminded him that it was too expensive and that he was wasting precious time on something he wouldn't even make it far in.

But Dennis proved them wrong.

Even though he had to make the money for himself to support his karting career (since his family were being a bunch of bitches and didn't want to help), he had a lot of potential. Winning several karting championships had gotten him recognized by Bugatti, so by the time he was eligible to officially Formula One, he was a priority. But not the main priority, as he was second to Caio Senna, who had been picked for the first seat months prior to Dennis.

Both of them had known each other since their karting days, and subsequently they both had debuted in Formula One during the 2008 season, but Caio had pretty much dominated. It was clear that Bugatti favored Caio over Dennis. And not only because Caio was a racing prodigy, being the son of late Ayrton Senna.

Dennis knew that between him and Caio, Caio would always be the better driver. And that made him angry.

"You'll never be better than Caio," "No one likes you anyway," "I hope you lose your seat." That's all Dennis heard during the weeks of the races. People weren't letting it go. They just hoped he failed one day and that Bugatti would regret ever choosing him to be the second driver for the team. It just fueled his anger even more. Battling Caio for points was what mattered to Dennis, but doing better than him was what mattered the most.

THEY WERE RIVALS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. Caio Senna and Dennis Kaufmann. Both on the same team yet fighting for points and podium positions as if they were sworn enemies that absolutely wanted each other dead—because they were. They would fight tooth and nail for points over positions. It was that serious to them.

Both facing different hardships that ultimately helped them get to where they were now, yet neither of them seemed like they would ever get along. Rivals and enemies since their karting days. And now partners on the same team? They would never be friends if it meant they had to get along.

But maybe something would change. Maybe one of them, or even both of them, would have a change of heart and stop this battle if they ever wanted to have peace.

Who knows if fate was written in the stars?
