twenty-two
"hey! why is your ass still in bed?" kenma asked as he burst into the bedroom and started preparing a perfect execution of a wwe on the sleepy kuroo on the bed.
"i'm gonna be here today..." kuroo mumbled and covered himself with a blanket, snuggling into kenma's incredibly soft mountain of pillows.
"for what reason, exactly?" kenma clambered onto the bed and positioned himself above kuroo, prepared to jump and elbow the hell out of him at any moment, all depends on his answer though.
kuroo opened his eyes and rolled on his back, very clearly amused by kenma standing over him. "because if i leave, a certain someone will be all grumpy and sulk the entire day" kuroo gave kenma a small smile. "and don't you dare tell me it isn't true. we've dated long enough for me to know this"
kenma thought for a second before sighing and dropping to his knees, straddling kuroo's waist. he grabbed kuroo's face and tugged on his cheeks. "it's almost annoying sometimes how much you know about me"
"would you rather me not know?"
"no, you must know, you're my boyfriend" kenma said sternly. a chuckle from kuroo followed as he slid his arms from under the blanket and placed them on kenma's thighs, squeezing them ever so slightly.
"exactly. that's why i'm staying here today, so you can take your revenge on me for the day and stop sulking" kuroo said, his hands rubbing on kenma's thighs. the other stared at him before huffing and turning his face away.
"you know what you did" kenma said, trying to fake anger but failing miserably, as there was nothing that could hide his excited smile, not even turning his face away helped.
"i know, i know. i spent my evening with bokuto, and i told you and akaashi yesterday everything that happened. i should have texted you though, that's on me. now, now..." kuroo reached out, his hand catching kenma's chin and turning his face towards kuroo. "have i ever lied to you?"
kenma bit on his lower lip. "no... you haven't. but i want to sulk so that you do all these nice, affectionate things towards me all day" he smirked and watched as kuroo's lips curled into a suggestive smile.
"i'll do that regardless, you're my baby, i'll show you all of my affection" kuroo whispered in a low tone, his hands sneaking up kenma's thighs and onto his waist, squeezing it softly. "anything you want, i'll do for you, you know that"
kenma let out a sigh before falling forward and onto kuroo, their faces just a fraction of an inch apart. kenma felt kuroo slither his hands around him, keeping him trapped indefinitely on his chest. "i can't stay mad at you" kenma whispered and watched as kuroo leaned in, placing a small kiss on his nose.
"i know, but that won't stop me from pampering you" kuroo said, the vibrations of his voice sending shivers down kenma's spine as he finally leaned in and pressed his lips against kuroo's, pleased to feel kuroo respond immediately. maybe this was the privilege of having a boyfriend of many years, not everyone had the chance to share a wonderful kiss with someone so early in the morning.
"do you want to stay in bed longer?" kuroo asked as he pulled away.
kenma thought for a second and shook his head. "the apartment is a mess, and it's laundry day so we shouldn't. plus if i stay in bed longer, i will never get out" he said and sat back up, getting off of kuroo and essentially ripping the blanket off of him.
"hey! what if i was naked under the blanket?" kuroo faked shock as he covered up his chest, laughing as kenma gave him the most i-don't-give-a-fuck expression he has ever seen.
"you act as if i haven't seen you naked. now get out of bed, akaashi has left already" kenma threw the blanket on the bed next to kuroo.
the other finally sat up, yawning and stretching, and feeling all those cracks in his body that relieved any post-sleep uncomfortable pain he may be feeling. "early lectures today?"
"yeah, and he's dropping by his parents' place later as well, he said his mother called him over for something" kenma said and walked out of the bedroom.
kuroo followed him, yawning again. "oh, so a busy day for him. and what are you planning apart from laundry?" he raised an eyebrow.
kenma reached for two cups and turned on his coffee machine, which was a gift from kuroo, and a gift he prayed to every morning. "i'm not streaming today, it's my day off. i thought maybe i would film a video but i'm not up for it either. to be honest, i don't know what i want to do today" kenma said as he watched the fresh coffee pour into the cups. he inhaled deeply, the smell of coffee penetrated his lungs and put a smug smile on his face.
"hmm, did anything happen during yesterday's stream?" kuroo walked behind kenma and wrapped his arms around him, resting his chin on kenma's shoulder.
"not much, i got some nice donations, got some news subs... there was just this one thing..." kenma said. he turned his head slightly to kuroo, his puzzled expression was more than enough to prompt kenma to continue talking. "there was a guy who kept donating and asking personal questions, which is nothing unhear of, but he was...adamant. and he kept commenting on how much he likes me... i don't know, something about him rubbed me the wrong way."
"you should get your moderators to ban him, if you feel uncomfortable" kuroo suggested.
"i know, but i don't want to get myself into some scandal or drama. if i ban a viewer for essentially nothing... it could get me into some hot water. remember that time i told you about my streamer friend banning a girl who kept making suggestive comments?" kenma watched as kuroo nodded. "yeah, she made a lengthy post afterwards and some people took her side, calling him unfair and stuff."
"but it's your stream, your space. you should feel comfortable" kuroo sighed, tightening his grip around kenma.
"yeah, but this career is dangerous. any wrong move, any wrong interaction and you're done. i love my job, i do... it just feels like i'm walking on eggshells sometimes." kenma turned around, now facing kuroo. "you think i should take a long break? or something?"
"you're at the peak of your career, so i would advise against it, but if you want to i will be here to support you" kuroo gave him a sympathetic smile. "maybe we should make a video together so that people stop hitting on you..."
"i will not expose the world to the handsomeness that is you or akaashi, because if i do - i'll only get more stalkers who will try to find you. your handsome face is too hard to resist, you know?" kenma squeezed kuroo's cheeks making the other laugh and finally release him from his grip.
"if you say so, but keep in mind that if it gets out of hand, just ban them and move on. okay? i still think about that convention incident sometimes..." kuroo sighed, the memories of an awful moment surging into his brain.
two years ago kenma attended a convention, kuroo, of course, accompanied him on his first event, happy that his boyfriend was crowned the breakthrough streamer of the year. he was finally doing something he loved while having the funds to work on his passion projects such as indie games and such.
the convention was packed with people, surprisingly many were kenma's fans and came specifically to attend a meet and greet with him. kuroo still remembers how he stood on the side, just behind kenma, pretending to be his guard (and got a hashtag trending about him after the convention). and then... that one guy came by, he was decked out head to toe in kenma's merch, in his arms a kenma plushie, and a limited edition one at that. he watched as the guy approached kenma, saying hello and commenting on how beautiful he was in real life, he then slid his arm around kenma's waist, pulling him closer to take a picture.
kuroo truly felt like committing first-degree murder at that point. if that's where the story ended, it would have been more or less okay, some fans may be more touchy than others, and kenma seemed to have forgotten by the end of the event. it was then, when they stood outside the venue, discussing where to get food, when the guy emerged from behind the other car, taking pictures of kenma as he ran towards him, trying his best to get his grip on kenma's clothes. the whole situation put kenma in a state of slight shock for a while...
"we got that sorted, remember?" kenma pinched kuroo's cheek. "and i don't attend conventions anymore as well, i don't think i want to"
"okay okay... tell me if anything more happens with that viewer, okay?" kuroo watched as kenma nodded.
the two of them enjoyed a soft morning, drinking coffee and discussing various things they had no time for before, from small topics such as various new clothing items, to bigger things like kuroo reciting a whole speech about his professor, who truly cared about his work. there was content in the air, both were satisfied with how their morning was going and enjoying each other's company immensely.
it's what drew them together in the first place. seemingly two very different people who managed to find a comfort space within each other, this comfort space is what helped them grow as lovers and understand each other better. kuroo knew exactly what kenma was feeling at any point, kenma knew from the tone of kuroo's voice what the other was thinking - it was this comfort space that led them to discussions of akaashi and opening their relationship for him.
when kenma first brought it up, kuroo had a bit of a crisis, slightly scared that kenma no longer felt love towards him, it took kenma a bit to explain to him that it wasn't the case. both of them held immense levels of love that overflowed, so why not share it with someone they both liked and wanted to have in their lives?
"you ever wonder what would have happened if i had changed rooms when i wanted to?" kuroo asked suddenly, startling kenma who was lost somewhere in the bedsheet he was trying to take off.
"huh?!" kenma asked from somewhere deep within the bedsheet.
"when i went to university, i wanted to change rooms at first because i didn't like the way it faced the street. but i was too lazy to do that. and then akaashi moved in." kuroo explained, sitting down on the sheet-less bed.
"fate finds a way, i think we still would have met him nonetheless" kenma finally managed to shake the bedsheet off of him and smiled at kuroo. "why do you ask?"
"i wonder whether he would be dating bokuto still, that's all."
"you said he changed, no?"
"yeah, he's... not the asshole he used to be a while back, and from what i know he hasn't hung out with those guys since the break up with akaashi as well. it just makes me wonder, what would have happened..."
"hey, both you and akaashi say that he has changed for the better, so why not give him a chance to be a friend? if he messes up, then so be it, but if he genuinely wants to be your friend, then why not?" kenma ruffled kuroo's hair. "are you worried we will disprove of it?"
"a bit" kuroo chuckled.
"we won't. and who knows, maybe if he is truly a better guy, we'll invite him to hang out. though first, he'd have to have a talk with akaashi and sort out any leftover stuff." kenma pulled kuroo into a hug, one that the other immediately melted into.
what kenma was saying... it was true. maybe he deserves a true chance. and something inside of kuroo was telling him that giving bokuto a chance to be friends would turn out well...
