twelve

"well, someone is up early and ready to go," kuroo said, his voice raspy and dry. he rubbed his eyes to see akaashi already dressed, slowly and methodically putting his accessories on to make sure everything matches.

the rays of the sun had barely passed by the curtain, it felt nice on akaashi's tall and handsome form - like an angel he stood, basking in the warmth of the sun and chirps of birds this beautiful morning. as if in slow motion, akaashi turned his head to the sleepy man on the bed and approached him, his soft hand pressing against kuroo's cheek as he leaned in.

he leaned in... and whispered. "it's noon you dummy, you forgot your alarm clock", before placing a cheeky kiss on kuroo's cheek and springing back to action. kuroo shot up in his bed, eyes now wide before he looked at the clock, the arrow ticked slowly only telling kuroo it was already 12:06.

"shit! how did i forget!" he jumped out of bed, akaashi burst into a laughing fit seeing kuroo struggle to make sense of his surroundings. "why didn't you wake me up?"

"i tried to, many times. but all the times i tried, you would grab me, pull me into a cuddle, and fall right back to sleep" akaashi spoke.

"that... i cannot deny i didn't do, i probably did... it's good i have no plans today" kuroo sighed in relief, slumping his body back onto the bed before taking another look at akaashi.

his legs were wrapped in nice cherry-colored trousers with a black belt around the waist, into the trousers a nice black shirt was tucked in, not too tight, not too loose. on his shoulders a jacket, which he might not even need, on his feet a pair of nice sneakers that don't stand out and ruin the outfit - a good date outfit if kuroo had to say so himself.

"oh... it's your date with kenma today, right?" kuroo asked, his eyes now fixated on the rings on akaashi's long fingers. oh, what he wouldn't do to feel them running now his back once again.

"yeah, i might not come back tonight. kenma wants me to come over and stay" akaashi shot kuroo a quick smile.

"i'm not surprised, you said you would give him twenty-four hours after all" kuroo chuckled.

"yeah yeah, i'm pretty excited. i don't think i have ever spent time with kenma like this, we have so much to do" a smile crept on akaashi's face, a genuine one. a date with kuroo was nice, he knows kuroo so he knew there would not be any problems, plus, being around kuroo makes him feel safe - he knew it would go smoothly.

a date with kenma? unknown territory, something he cannot predict. it could be calm, it could be dangerous, it could be anything - he does not have the same knowledge of kenma that he does of kuroo - which makes learning about him even more exciting.

"well, don't forget to text me so i know you are okay" kuroo chuckled watching akaashi add the finishing touches to his outfit before checking for his phone and wallet.

"yes yes, no worries!" akaashi quickly sprinted towards kuroo, stopping in his tracks right before crashing into him, he placed another kiss on his cheek before whispering, "see you tomorrow", and disappearing behind the door.

the sun that was previously shining was now hiding behind a cloud and it didn't seem like it would come out any time soon, which was a bummer but nothing could bring akaashi's mood now. his mind went over all of the possibilities of the date while he was on the bus, while he walked down the street and even when a hand pulled on his jacket.

"ahem!" someone cleared their throat behind him and akaashi turned around with glee to see kenma standing there, looking as adorable as ever. they exchanged 'hi's and hello's, gave each other a strong hug before taking a step back and exhaling deeply.

"so, what are we going to do?" kenma asked, finally happy to have his alone time with akaashi.

"i wanted to visit the arcade with you, maybe go have some nice burgers at the shack later?" akaashi suggested, a suggestion that was agreed upon with a smile.

"finally, my alone time with you. i have been waiting for this" kenma said as his hand slowly slithered into akaashi's palm, he didn't expect akaashi to immediately grab and squeeze his hand but was happy when he did that.

"same, i was counting hours till this date" akaashi smiled widely. the two made small talk, discussing their days and what they ate, what they did, and what they saw since their last meet-up as they made their way to the arcade slowly.

out of sheer curiosity, kenma asked akaashi whether he saw bokuto that one day at the vending machines, to his surprise - akaashi did see him but was not in the mood to ruin his energy and vibe at that moment - after all, it was a really good day for him.

by each minute kenma got closer and closer to akaashi, to the point where his shoulder kept brushing against akaashi's arm, the latter took this as a sign to release kenma's hand but before he could react he wrapped his hand around kenma's waist, pulling him as close as ever.

"has kuroo done anything he shouldn't have lately?" kenma suddenly asked.

"what are things he shouldn't do?" akaashi chuckled, now realizing how competitive they are.

"well, uh, you know... more than kissing you...?" kenma's voice got quiet.

"don't you worry, he has never gone beyond kissing" akaashi watched kenma's face relax.

"good, as he should. i am expecting my many kisses though" kenma smiled to himself, content with everything that was going on.

"i will be sure to deliver" akaashi smiled. before he could say anything else, he felt a raindrop on his face - uh oh. the arcade was already in sight but from the sky above it did not look like the rain would go away any time soon.

"oh, it's raining" kenma reacted with disappointment in his voice.

"do you still wanna go to the arcade?" akaashi asked while looking around for a good place to hide from the rain.

"uh, well, i don't think many places will be open during rain..." he said quietly.

"then, should we just go to your place?" akaashi suggested to which kenma's face lit up with an agreement.

"yes! we can play games, order pizza, and cuddle!" he said all excited.

akaashi nodded and dragged both of them under a tree that offered at least some protection from the rain before pulling out his phone and calling the cab. ain't no way thr two of them would be waiting for a bus in this weather, especially considering kenma had short sleeves on.

while waiting for the cab to arrive, akaashi felt kenma shiver just slightly, which prompted him to do another cliche romance move and put his jacket over kenma's shoulders, a gesture was returned with a cheeky smile and red cheeks - a worthy reward.

"well, that's not at all going how i imagined the day" akaashi said once they got into the cab.

"stupid weather... but hey, at least you will spend the time at my place! no escaping the cuddles!" kenma chuckled before throwing his arms around akaashi. the cab driver must have been having on hell of the time as a mixture of laughter, chuckles and whispers came from the back seat.

lucky to them, kenma did not live too far and it was not traffic hour. after paying the driver with a solid tip, akaashi admired the apartment building kenma was living in. "so, uh, how many rooms?" he asked.

"a three room apartment, mine is on the seventh floor. let's go!" kenma ushered him as he grabbed akaashi's hand, dragging him to the lobby.

"why aren't you and kuroo living together?" akaashi continued.

"while he is studying, we cannot. he needs space and i do too, once we are done - that's when we will move in together..." kenma answered. "well, we might need a bigger apartment now that you will be joining us too" he followed up, noticing the clear blush on akaashi's face.

the elevator dinged indicating they were now on the seventh floor and kenma rushed to unlock the door. the moment the door opened akaashi could the atmosphere change. yeah, this was going to be a fun evening.

"welcome to my home" kenma said and invited akaashi in.

"thank you for having me..." as the door closed behind them, akaashi could see kenma shuffling around shy, maybe he did not expect to have akaashi over this early, they were still full of energy. "hey, kenma..." akaashi called for him.

cluelessly, kenma stepped closer to akaashi, who grabbed his wrist and pulled him into his embrace. "wha--?" before kenma could react akaashi leaned in, placing a sweet kiss on kenma's lips, just soft enough to make anyone's kneecaps crumble.

"let's have fun today" akaashi whispered and felt a shiver run down kenma's spine.
