"Peter, Babe, it's just a party," Madison laughed.
"It's Flash's party. At Flash's house," Peter replied.
The two were standing at the front of Flash Thompson's door. Music was blaring from inside the big house. Well most people would think it was monstrous, but it was Flash's house and Madison lived in the Avengers Facility. So big would be the word Madison would use to described the house she was looking at. However, even though this was known territory of expensive things to Madison. She still preferred Peter's small, cozy apartment.
Madison turned her head to the boy and let out a small laugh, "Look, this was your idea. You said I needed to get out of the house. It's not like we have to do this."
"I know," Peter sighed, "It's just that I only ever been to one other party, and you know that didn't go so well."
The younger Stark held up a hand, "Flash isn't going to do anything like that to you, because he knows that I will personally kick his ass. And if you don't want to do this then we don't have to, Babe."
Peter shook his head, "No it's fine. Ned is already inside, and I dragged you out of the house to come to this. I'm just being a wimp."
"You could never be a wimp," Madison retorted, "Let's just go make an appearance and have some fun."
The girl then grabbed onto Peter's hand and then opened the front door and walked into the party. The music got even louder no that there wasn't a barrier trying to block the sound. Almost the entire school was there, and everyone was dancing. Madison squeezed Peter's hand as she weaved her way through the crowd. She held on tightly, for she didn't want to lose him amongst the sea of mostly drunk teenagers.
Eventually the couple found Ned, who was wearing his iconic Confidence Hat. Madison gave a warm grin as she and Peter walked up to their friend. Ned spotted them and a toothy smile came across his face.
"I'm so glad you guys didn't bail. I was wondering if there was going to be a repeat of the last party," Ned greeted as he gave the two a wave.
Madison let out a little laugh while Peter spoke, "Dude, did you have to wear the hat?"
"Shut up," the girl answered, giving her boyfriend a light punch in the shoulder, "It gives him confidence."
"Yeah you always let Maddie wear whatever she wants. Why can't I?" Ned asked, crossing his arms and tilting his head to the side.
Peter rolled her eyes, "Because Maddie looks beautiful in everything she wears."
Ned made a gagging sound and Madison gave Peter a smile. The boy then leaned in and gave Madison a small kiss on the lips, causing another fake barfing sound to come from his best friend.
"You know if you guys were gonna do that you maybe should have bailed," Ned exclaimed, scrunching his face up in disgust.
Madison then gave her friend a look, "Ned, you have literally never cared about us kissing."
"I know," Ned sighed, breaking from the disgusted act, "I just wanted to see what you guys would say."
"Ned, I seriously wonder about if you're losing brain cells or not," Peter laughed.
Madison opened her mouth to speak, but then the annoy voice of Flash Thompson spoke out, "Heyo, Penis Parker. I see you've brought your arm candy."
"Don't refer to her as that," Peter said, his tone laced with annoyance.
Flash then held up his hands in defense, "Chill, it was just a joke. Anyways, Decathlon team is playing a game of Truth or Dare upstairs in the Elite Room, so come on."
He then started to walk away as the trio followed him. Madison wasn't sure why she was, but she was curious as to what a game of Truth or Dare would hold. She had never played the game, but her father would tell her stories of his high school experience with these types of games.
So they followed Flash up the winding staircase and eventually ended up in a second living room area where everyone, besides Liz Allen, on the Decathlon team were sitting in a circle on the floor. Madison, who had never let go of Peter's hand, walked over and took a seat next to Michelle. Peter then followed Madison's movements and took a place on the floor next to her; in the process he finally let go of Madison's hand and then wrapped his arm around her. Then Ned followed in suit by sitting down next to Peter, thus completing the circle.
Flash was straight across from Madison and as soon as he saw that everyone was seated he began to speak. "Okay, so the rules are simple. I'll spin the coke bottle and then ask a question to whoever it points to. Then that person spins and it goes around like that so it's random."
There were a few words of agreeance among the group, and then a second later Flash spun the bottle. The bottle spun fast for a short time and then it started to slow down. Then eventually it landed on Betty Bryant.
"Truth or Dare?" Flash questioned.
Betty then flashed a smile and then boldly spoke, "Dare."
"Okay. I dare you," Flash replied as he started to think, "I dare you to kiss one person in this circle."
The blonde then let out a laugh as she kissed her hand, "That was easy."
"That's not what I meant," Flash huffed.
"You never said it couldn't be me, and last time I check I am sitting in the circle," Betty shrug in a nonchalant manner.
Madison laughed as she watched Betty place her hand on the bottle and give it a spin. After a second or two, the bottle stopped and landed on Ned. The kid gave a big smile towards the group, happy that he would get a turn.
Once Betty saw who the bottle landed on she gave another grin, "Ned, Truth or Dare?"
"Truth," Ned answered confidently.
"Who is your favorite superhero?" Betty questioned, tilting her head to the side.
Madison and Peter then shared a wide eyed look with one another before they both looked at Ned, who was the only person in the world their age who knew that they were superheroes.
"Well I would have to say. Favorite boy would be Spider-Man, and girl would be Venus," Ned answered as he gave Madison and Peter a sly wink.
The two then shared another look and laughed at their friend while Ned took his turn at spinning the bottle. This time it landed on Michelle.
Ned shifted in his seat and then asked, "Truth or Dare?"
"Dare," the girl answered casually, as if she was only playing this game to pass time.
"I dare you to take a sip of cranberry juice," Ned smirked.
Madison let out another laugh as she looked at her friend. Michelle absolutely hated that drink. She hated it with a passion. However to Madison surprise, Michelle stood up and walked over to a bar that had drinks. She picked up a bottle of cranberry juice and then took a drink out of it.
"You're gonna regret that," she smirked as she took a seat and spun the bottle, "Madison, Truth or Dare."
Madison then looked at the floor and saw that the bottle had indeed landed on her. The girl then looked up and said, "Truth."
"What is your biggest fear?" Michelle asked, tilting her head to the side.
"Uh... Losing those... I love," Madison answered.
Then a sharp pain entered her head. It was as if someone was drilling a hole into her head. And then flashes from her nightmares started to appear. Madison then stood up and started to walk out of the room, her head feeling as if it was going to explode.
She stumbled down the stairs as tears filled her eyes from the pain. Madison pushed her way through the crowd as she heard Peter calling out after her.
Once Madison was outside she collapsed to the ground in pain. Winces, small cries and screams, and sobs escaped her as she fell to her knees. Something was terribly wrong. Madison wasn't asleep. These weren't her nightmares. These were her worst fears filling her mind.
Peter slid to his knees beside her and looked at her in terror, "Madison, what is it? What's wrong? Talk to me?"
Madison clutched onto Peter's jacket as she her mind flashed back and forth from seeing him in a pool of blood and seeing him alive in front of her. Then she saw her father. She saw him laying next to Peter. The two people she cared for the most in the world were dead in her mind.
The it stopped, and she just saw Peter. And then it clicked for Madison once she caught the black mist seeping away from the corner of her eye.
"It... It's her," Madison choked out.
Peter shook his head, "Who?"
"Nemesis," she answered, letting out another sob.
Peter then pulled Madison close to her and held her as she cried.
