the train ride to hogwarts went by in what felt like an instant.
addison parker, elizabeth mitchell, henry lewis, and nicholas matthews were all in light conversation with one another when lydia had knocked on their compartment door. "do you guys have room for one more?" lydia questioned shyly.
the four kids looked at each other and in silent agreement welcomed lydia into the train car with friendly greetings.
all five of the people sitting in the compartment introduced themselves to lydia and she soon learned that all of the witches and wizards in front of her, with the exception of nicholas, were muggles. this quirked the young girl's curiosity.
she started asking many questions aimed towards the trio of people who were born in regular households. addison, henry, and elizabeth humored the young lynch girl and answered her question one at a time with genuine answers.
the five children sitting in the compartment soon found friendship in each other. never running out of things to talk about, the train ride came to an end.
when the five children stepped off the train, they were faced with a castle that' image encompassed the epitome of magic.
before they had a chance to really take in the beauty of the castle, all first years were beckoned over by a tall and disheveled looking man holding a lantern. he walked the first years to a large number of boats set up on the shores of, what seemed to be, a lake. the man who brought them over to the lake yelled out that there shall be no more than four to a boat.
lydia looked at the friends she had just made and told them to go ahead on a boat without her. "i'll catch up," she promised.
her friends looked hesitant to leave her behind. "are you sure?" addison spoke.
"we can split up 2 and 3," henry suggested.
before lydia could speak another word a familiar voice called her name and caught her attention.
"do you need a boat to ride in love?"
lydia turned around and was faced with none other than draco malfoy along with his goons, crabbe and goyle. the smirk on his face told lydia that draco had heard her predicament and knew she needed a boat.
lydia turned back to her friends and assured them multiple times that she would be fine. reluctantly, her friends left her and got into their own boat.
after watching all four of her new friends get into a boat, she whipped around to face draco once again. "yes, i do need a boat to ride in draco," lydia said as nicely as she could.
he gestured towards his boat and with another smirk on his face he spoke, "there's always room for you sweetheart."
begrudgingly, lydia climbed in and took a seat while telling draco to stop calling her things like sweetheart and love.
draco just let out a small laugh and sat right next to lydia before the boats pushed off towards the castle.
