Farah sighed and put her phone down on the bathroom counter. she had just gotten out of the shower, which was perfect timing on her part. Madison was notorious for having horrible timing with a lot of things, so Farah was grateful for this rare occasion.
daydreaming about how her night could go, she began humming quietly as she dried herself off. she applied her lotion and other various skin care and hair care treatments before beginning to search for her clothes. she lifted countless items trying to remember where she put them, but they didn't turn up.
"oh fuck." she muttered to herself after realizing that she had left her clothes on her dresser. such a fool, she thought to herself. Farah weighed her options of what she could do; she could ask Drew or Austin to bring her clothes, but it wouldn't make sense for them to go get it, so she just opted to wrap her towel around herself. once it was secure enough, she began gathering the rest of her stuff.
Farah exited the bathroom shortly after, clutching her towel close to her body. she heard the TV playing in the living room, which she would have to pass at some point, stopped, and decided to yell out a warning.
"is anyone home?"
"living room!" Drew replied, causing Farah's shoulders to drop.
"okay, well, avert your eyes!" she screeched.
"what?! what for?" Drew called out over the noise of the show he was watching.
Farah padded down the hall sheepishly, trying to keep her body covered as she moved quickly as she could, out of respect for Drew. she tried not to make eye contact as she passed, but the sound of a female voice halted her in her tracks.
"oh, you've got to be kidding."
Farah's head snapped to the side. her eyes immediately found Amanda, who was wearing a deep scowl.
"sorry. forgot my clothes." Farah muttered. Amanda sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes.
"of course you did." she smiled sarcastically at Farah. Amanda then looked to Drew, wearing the same scowl she was earlier. Drew, however, refused to look at his girlfriend, which seemed to really piss her off.
Farah could feel the tension building in the room and took it as her sign to leave. she shook her head, and without saying another word she slipped off down the hall to her room. Amanda was too preoccupied with her boyfriend to notice that she had gone, but Drew practically watched her leave, unbeknownst to Amanda.
"are you gonna do something?" she crossed her arms over her chest and threw herself back against the couch. Drew lifted his eyebrows and shook his head minimally.
"i-" he chuckled awkwardly. "i mean, what do you want me to do?"
"tell her to put some damn clothes on!" Amanda threw her hands up, completely baffled by her boyfriends reaction.
Drew hesitated. "i mean, she's going to right now." it was soon after the words left his mouth that he felt a pang of regret. he knew that what he said wasn't what Amanda wanted to hear at all, but it was the truth. sometimes she needed to hear it, and Drew decided that the time would be today. especially since she wasn't invited.
"you're unbelievable. your stripper roommate just walked out of the shower basically naked in front of us, and you say nothing?! you never take any responsibility-"
Drew felt himself beginning to zone out as Amanda continued lecturing him. her voice became muffled although he could still hear her shrill tone. he couldn't sit there and listen to it for any longer. Drew prayed for an out; something, literally anything.
when he saw a figure walk into the living room out of the corner of his blurry eyes, he silently thanked god for listening and forced himself to come back to earth. he lifted his head and smiled at Farah. only then did he realize that Amanda stopped talking.
"Drew," Farah started. "a word?"
he nodded eagerly knowing that this was the out he needed. but his relief was soon ruined with the realization that Farah was pissed. he shamefully hung his head and stood from the couch, to which Amanda followed suit.
Farah saw her movement and held her finger up towards the girl. "no" she gritted her teeth. "i just want to talk to Drew."
"i have a right to be there too." Amanda crossed her arms over her chest stubbornly.
Farah clenched her jaw and glared at Amanda. she didn't reply, instead she stormed up to Drew and grasped his forearm. although she was angry, she still pulled Drew's arm with the utmost care, pulling him out of the living room and into her own bedroom. he willingly went with her, leaving his girlfriend in the living room.
Farah shut and locked the door behind her, causing Drew to pull his eyebrows together.
"why'd you lock it?" he questioned almost skeptically.
Farah stood there for a moment almost knowingly, as though she was waiting for something to happen. Drew carefully watched as the girl looked through him, most likely to the door behind him. then, the doorknob rattled and a huff could be heard from the other side. Amanda was trying to get in.
Farah raised her eyebrows, now making direct eye contact with Drew. he bit the inside of his lip and nodded knowingly. as Farah stood before him, her arms crossed over her chest and fingers gripping onto her biceps tightly, he knew he fucked up. he promised her, and he broke that promise.
"fuuuuck" he sighed out while tugging his hands through his hair. "i know, i know. i fucked up."
Farah just shrugged, not really knowing what to say just yet even though she was the one to pull him away. Drew backed up a step and leaned up against the wall, stuffing his hands into his jeans' front pockets.
"i guess i just wanna know why. i mean, there's gotta be some reason, no?"
Drew sighed quietly. he wasn't sure how this conversation was going to go, but he feared that he would hurt her feelings because he was on a truth path that he couldn't get off of.
"she surprised me. i didn't know she was coming, i swear." Drew threw his hands up in defense. Farah nodded her head, showing him that she understood his predicament.
"you tell her that she can't stay?" Farah asked. Drew stared blankly back at her, which prompted Farah to raise her eyebrows expectantly. he eventually gave himself up and hung his head.
"thought so." Farah scoffed. she shook her head disapprovingly before turning her head to look at Petunia, who was desperately trying to get Drew's attention.
"it's really hard to say no, Fay. especially when she shows up unannounced like that." Drew tried to defend himself, but it just fell upon deaf ears. Farah continued to look at Petunia, and Drew continued to look at Farah.
"you know, it's kinda not fair for you to ask me to not bring her around." Drew started, confirming his statement with a reaffirming nod as if to say, yeah, that's what i wanted to go for.
Farah frowned subtly. "oh? i mean-"
"not that i won't respect your wishes," Drew added on shortly after. "i just don't think it's fair. i've never done that to any of your friends or romantic partners, so you shouldn't do it to me."
Farah's face scrunched together at his words. "okay, fair. but i barely have people over and if i do it's our cast mates."
the silence that followed was almost deafening. Drew felt kind of silly in that moment because he hadn't put much thought into what he was going to say, but that didn't make him back down. he just wanted to talk to her, but she was starting to act strange.
"i still don't think it's fair." the boy continued as he threw his hands up and shrugged his shoulders.
Farah pulled her bottom lip in between her teeth and gently chewed as a strategy to think of ways to solve this issue. the more thought she was able to put into it, the better the outcome would be for the both of them.
"okay. well," Farah lifted her eyebrows and shook her head quickly. "i'm sorry you think that. i guess she can come over, but if you're gonna have her here can you just let me know so that i'm not around?"
Drew sighed and ran his hand down his face. he could never understand why his girlfriend and his best friend had such a huge issue with each other. they clashed when they first met and they still do till this day, though it's unclear to Drew why. nothing that he did seemed to help their relationship, and taking away one of the factors only made things worse. what could he do?
he also couldn't understand why Farah didn't want her around.
"what's your issue with Mandy? i mean, i know she can be a little..." Drew trailed off as he tried to think of the right way to describe his girlfriend without being insulting. "bossy...but she's super sweet once you get the chance to know her. Farah, i promise you."
"yeah, that's what you said when we first met and she was rude as hell. that's my issue with her, Drew, is that she's rude and keeps being rude." Farah threw her hands up.
"so don't talk to her! just avoid her." Drew pleaded, his eyes now widened. Farah crossed her arms over her chest and pursed her lips.
"you don't think i tried? i ignore her all the time and she still finds a way to start shit— you know what? i'm done talking about this tonight, i have to get ready and i'm not gonna argue with you about it while doing so. she can stay, but if she's here when i get back tonight, all i ask is that i don't see her. after that i'll stay out of the way."
Drew contemplated her proposal for a few moments, carefully weighing whether he could make that work. he eventually nodded and bit the inside of his cheek. "you don't have to stay away, though. it's your apartment too."
"no Drew" Farah said sternly. "it'll only cause issues. just for tonight, please? i'm going out with Bailey and Cline, and we both know how that went last time when she was here. just go."
the boy huffed and pushed himself off of the wall. "fine, if that's what you want. call me when you're ready to talk about this like an adult."
and with that, Drew pushed his way past Farah and out of the room, slamming the door shut.
