a harsh knock came from the other side of the apartment door. the knocking was rapid, but the force put behind it created a sense of urgency in Farah, who was sitting on the couch next to Drew. within a moment the girl was on her feet and walking to the door. she halted at the door, leaning forward slightly to look through the peep hole. on the other side of the door stood Amanda. fuck.

Farah pulled away from the door and glanced over her shoulder at Drew. he was still in the same position that he was in when she left to answer the door. he seemed rather unfazed at their sudden visitor, but she was pretty certain that he had invited her here, which is what she didn't want from him at all.

"who's here?" Drew called out when he saw that Farah was still by the door but was refusing to open it. she didn't answer him. instead, she looked back at the door and sighed before swinging it open.

Amanda had her arms crossed tightly over her chest and was impatiently tapping her foot as she waited for someone to answer the door. a large part of her had anticipated for Drew to answer the door, so when she saw Farah's face instead of his, she became angry.

"is Drew here?" Amanda questioned impatiently. her foot continued to tap annoyingly on the ground below her, displaying her agitation to Farah.

the grip that Farah had on the door handle tightened as she thought quickly about what she wanted to do. she didn't want to invite Amanda in—after all, she was the one who indirectly kicked her out— but she also didn't want to just send Drew out into the hall with evil spawn.

"yep. on the couch." she replied flatly after a brief contemplation. Amanda's jaw clenched and she slowly unfolded her arms. she took a step forward to go into the apartment, but Farah shifted ever so slightly and blocked her path. with a new found confidence with confrontation, she held her hand out in front of Amanda.

"Drew!" Farah called out as she craned her neck backwards to see him. "door!"

the boy stopped what he was doing when he heard his roommate call out for him. he got up from the couch and made his way over, only seeing Amanda after it was too late.

"oh" was all he could manage to sputter out after his eyes landed on her. when he got close enough, Farah turned so that her entire backside was holding the door open. Drew looked up at her with a mix of emotions written across his face; guilt and confusion being the top contenders.

"thanks. uh, i'll take it from here." Drew muttered while waving off Farah. the brunette girl nodded before spinning on her heel and taking off to her room. Drew led the girl outside of their apartment and shut the door quietly behind them.

"what, i'm not allowed to go in there?" Amanda asked while motioning to the closed door. she looked up at Drew expectedly and was a bit concerned when he refused to meet her eyes.

"no. not for a while." he replied with a sigh.

Amanda's expression flipped in an instant. what was once expectance was now anger. "did your little pet say that?" she spat.

Drew furrowed his eyebrows. "my pet? you mean Petunia? that's Farah's-"

"no! i'm talking about Farah, Drew! i mean, come on, she's seriously kicking us out of your apartment?! she has no right to do that."

Drew paused for a brief moment. "no no no, she didn't decide that, i did."

"what?" Amanda fired out in disbelief.

Drew sighed when he saw the new look on her face; disappointment. he knew he wasn't going to be able to win this argument, but he was going to try his best. he had a promise to keep with Farah, and he sure as hell was not going to break it anytime soon.

"look, Mandy, i'm worried that our fighting might wreck the apartment. we throw shit, and a lot of the times things break. i just don't want to have to pay more than i have to for this apartment. if we break anything that's non-personal, we get charged for that shit! that's the only reason why i didn't want you coming here. i don't wanna have to deal with that shit when the inevitable comes. Farah and i both agree-"

"oh, so she did have something to say about this?" Amanda lifted her eyebrows and crossed her arms over her chest. Drew blinked rapidly.

"wait, wha- okay. hold on, that's not what i said." he replied defensively.

"yes, you did." Amanda confirmed with a nod. Drew shook his head and exhaled sharply.

"no, i didn't. i brought the idea up with her when we were talking and she agreed. so did Austin." Drew tried to explain, putting his emphasis on the fact that Austin also agreed.

the girl rolled her eyes in response. "whatever. so i'm not allowed to go into your apartment?"

Drew hesitated before shaking his head no. Amanda scoffed, her jaw dropping slightly as she stared at Drew in disbelief.

"are you being serious right now? you're telling me that i can't come in because of some stupid argument that we had?" Amanda asked in disbelief.

"it was just some stupid argument, Mandy. we threw shit at things that shouldn't have shit thrown at them! look, it's not just my apartment, it's theirs too. we have to respect that." Drew said gently as to not piss her off.

Amanda rolled her eyes once again. "whatever. i'm leaving. text me when the bitch and her dog leave."

Drew blinked, and the next thing he knew his girlfriend was striding down the hall towards the elevator. the boy watched her for a moment as he began to process what she had just said. after a minute, he returned inside and shut the door behind him.

he walked back out into the living room in a daze and sat down on the sofa. Farah walked out of her room a few moments later, with Petunia trailing behind her, and made her way back into the living room.

"oh wow, she's not here?" Farah questioned with raised eyebrows. Drew sighed and shook his head.

"no, i banned her from coming in." Drew stated. "she wasn't too happy about it."

Farah lifted her brows in response and jut out her bottom lip slightly. "i figured" Farah replied absentmindedly. she looked over to Drew, who looked like he was in a daze.

"you okay?" Farah asked after a few moments of observing Drew silently. he looked up from his lap and nodded his head.

"yeah, i'm fine. i'm just worried about her, how she'll take it and all that." Drew waved his hand dismissively in front of him. "but i'm also not that worried. she just has to get over it, y'know? if she has an issue with it, then it's not my problem."

Farah frowned and glanced at Drew sheepishly. "look, i'm sorry if this caused problems for you guys."

"it didn't. actually, i don't know. but what i do know is that it's fine and i'll take care of it. i made it out to be my decision with her, so i'll deal with it." Drew said casually, even though he knows it might inflict world war III if he's not careful.

"are you sure? i'm fine with taking the blame. she probably already knows it was me who said it in the first place." the girl tilted her head to look at her roommate. she watched as he nodded his head, seeming sure that this was what he wanted to do.

"yeah. she wouldn't listen if i told her that you said it. it's no big deal."

Farah paused before thanking Drew and apologizing once again.

"it's alright, pumpkin, i've got this. i promise."
