the sound of multiple young adults singing happy birthday rung through castiels ears, waking him from his sleep. he rubbed his eyes, opening them to see his friends standing over him. the first person he noticed was a smiling dean, holding a small birthday cake in his hands.
"guys, its too early." cas groaned, looking over to his clock, 9:27 am. he grabbed a pillow, pulling it over his face and hiding from his friend.
"cassie, get up birthday boy." dean sung, sitting down on castiels lap. the pillow was ripped from cas' hands, luci now held the pillow, repeatedly hitting cas with it.
"cas, hurry up and get dressed, there's people downstairs for you." michael said before walking out of the room, everyone but dean following him.
"your cake." dean smiled, putting the cake on castiels desk. cas gave dean a small smile, the older still sitting on his lap.
"thank you, dee. now could you please get up?" cas asked, dean blushed when he realized his position. he quickly stood up and held his hands together as he faced cas. "are you clingy today or something? i need to get ready." cas said, looking dean up and down suspiciously.
"o-oh, i'll go." dean stuttered, almost tripping as he rushed out of the room, embarrassed. castiel chuckled at his friend, going towards his closet for an outfit.
castiel took his time picking his outfit, knowing he was going to be the center of attention all day. he also maybe wanted to impress a certain green eyed fraternity president. once he found the perfect outfit, he walked to the bathroom.
taking his time with fixing his hair, brushing his teeth and washing his face. he got changed into his plaid pants, tucking in his shirt that was halfway unbuttoned.
when he was finally ready, he walked down the stairs surprised to see alfie and his friends. he immediately ran over to tackle his younger brother in a tight hug. alfie squeezed back, having missed his brother from not seeing him for two months.
"woah, birthday man looks good." castiel pulled away from alfie to greet his three friends, hearing claires comment.
"thanks, claire." cas smiled, hugging the girl, along with her brother, jack. after hugging the two blonde siblings, he turned to alex, bringing the raven haired girl into a hug.
"happy birthday, cas." alex said, handing the boy a small box. cas smiled widely as he was handed the gift, opening it to see a small tube of strawberry chapstick. the boy laughed, a reoccurring theme of her teasing him for his chapped lips.
"oh my, thank you alex." cas chuckled, giving her another quick hug. "so wheres everyone else?" castiel asked, considering the house seemed empty besides them.
"oh, uh, downstairs." jack said, castiel nodded and started walking towards the basement door. the four teens were quick to run in front of him, stopping him from going to the basement.
"if you're trying to set a surprise party, theres no point. plus, i did not just get dressed this good for you idiots." cas stated, pushing them out of his way. the four teens being too lazy to actually try and stop them like they were told.
castiel made his way down the steps, seeing balloons on every inch of the ceiling along with plenty of banners. his friends all setting up different things, most of them already at the alcohol table.
"woah, cas, what are you doing down here?" gabe asked, trying to push his brother back up the steps.
"you guys shouldve done this before you woke me up." cas muttered, walking past his brother. gabe turned to the teens that he told specifically not to let cas in the basement.
"he's stubborn as hell, and strong." claire surrendered to gabe.
when dean noticed castiel, he noticed his unbuttoned shirt, revealing all too much skin. he thought how gorgeous cas looked. his grown out hair that seemed to be turning to a light brown. his stubble that made him look so friggen good.
dean was far past breath taken by the birthday boy's beauty.
"hi, dean." cas greeted his friend with a smile, leaning his back against the brick wall. dean didn't try to hide that he was checking out cas, the younger boy noticing and getting flustered.
"uh, h-hi cas. wow, you look-holy shit- you look amazing." dean stammered, his breathing heavy just at the site of cas.
"you think so?" cas questioned, stuffing his hand into the pockets of his plaid pants. dean nodded vigorously, biting his tongue as he smiled, which cas thought was so cute.
"i know so, birthday angel." dean responded, grabbing a beer from the table and popping the cap off.
castiel watched as dean took the beer cap off as if it was the easiest thing. he grabbed a beer of his own, not caring that it was before noon. cas gripped the top of the bottle tightly, trying his best to get the cap off. dean watched as his friend struggled, laughing slightly at how cute cas was being.
"you need help?" dean offered, castiel stuck out his bottom lip in a pout.
"how do you do it so easily?" cas asked, handing dean the bottle.
"practice." dean shrugged, popping off the cap like it was nothing and handing it back to cas.
"well, here's to me being 20." cas chuckled, clinking his beer against deans before taking a sip.
"birthday boy!" ruby called, cas turned around to look at his friend who was walking over to him. "here ya go." she said, handing him a present bag stuffed with tissue paper.
cas opened the bag and laughed as he saw a thick rope inside. dean tried to peek at the present, cas making sure he didn't see it.
"what'd you get?" dean questioned.
"you'll find out soon enough." ruby said, winking at dean before walking away. dean stood confused on what she meant.
"wanna go up to my room and eat that cake while they finish setting up?" castiel asked, dean looked around the room before nodding. the pair walked upstairs, grabbing two forks from the kitchen before going to cas' room.
cas set down his present and beer, grabbing the cake as they sat on his bed.
"where'd you get this? its delicious." cas mumbled, covering his mouth as he had a bite of cake he hadnt swallowed yet.
"ralphs." dean said with a small laugh, sticking his fork into the cake. "its no pie, i'll tell you that." the older joked, shoving a large bite into his mouth.
"way messier that pie, thats for sure." cas chuckled, reaching over the wipe away the blue frosting from deans cheek. dean blushed at the youngers action, wiping his mouth in hopes to get all the frosting off.
they finished the cake, setting down the plate and laying back on castiels bed.
"i got you something." dean stated, rolling to his side to face cas.
"you didn't have to." cas said, rolling over as well. their eyes were locked on each others, both of the boys secretly wanting to kiss the other.
"too bad, cassie." dean retorted, sitting up so he could go get cas' gifts. he walked across the hall to his own room, finding the baby blue birthday bag. he walked back to cas, sitting next to him on his bed as cas sat up.
cas took the bag from deans hands, the older watching carefully.
"i-its nothing fancy." dean said, scared that the boy wouldn't like his gift.
cas reached into the bag, first pulling out the bear from the thrift store. he smiled widely, looking up at dean.
"it reminded me of you, c-cause you're like a big teddy bear and you're my angel." dean explained, castiels cheeks heated up at his words.
"i love it." cas smiled, kissing the bears head and setting it down, reaching into the bag again. this time he pulled out a small cassette tape, the words for my angel written in deans sloppy hand writing. castiels smile widened, looking at the cheesy gift and then to dean.
"songs that make me think of you, and possibly a recording of me singing." dean mumbled, looking down at his hands in embarrassment.
"dean, im literally going to cry, these are the best gifts ever. they have actual meaning, and theyre so cute." cas exclaimed, dean looked up at him, a smile forming on his lips.
"dont cry, you're too pretty." dean said, watching as cas rolled his eyes playfully. "theres, uh, one more thing." dean reached into the bag and pulling out a gold necklace with a small sun attached.
castiel immediately noticed that it looked like the silver moon necklace around deans neck.
"i-is this-" "the other half of mine? yeah." dean said, a nervous chuckle leaving his mouth. cas smiled and turned around, allowing dean to put the neck on him.
as dean was latching the necklace, cas turned his head to see dean to the best of his ability. when dean got the necklace on, his hands rested on castiels shoulders. cas turned slightly, deans eyes locking with his.
they stayed silent as cas brought his hand up to deans cheek. the older boy grew nervous, his eyes averting from cas' beautiful blues to his plump pink lips. cas did the same, leaning closer to dean until their lips were just centimeters apart.
deans breath hitched, closing his eyes, longing to feel castiels lips against his own. feeling the soft lips against his, he smiled at the touch. cas taking lead in the slow kiss, his hand holding the back of deans neck, making sure he didn't lose contact.
their lips moved together in a perfect synchronization, taking their time as to not rush anything. cas pulled away, keeping his forehead against deans.
"c-can i try something?" dean asked nervously, castiel nodded slowly, leaning back. dean climbed onto castiels lap as he did earlier that morning, this time his legs on either side of cas.
cas was surprised at deans actions, but loved it anyway. dean cupped castiel face in his hands, bringing their lips back together. this time, the kiss was less patient, castiels tongue sliding against deans lips. dean parted his lips, allowing cas' tongue to fight with his.
castiels hands placed under deans thighs, dangerously close to his bottom. the younger male squeezed the blondes butt, a small gasp leaving deans mouth.
cas took this as his opportunity to show his dominance, flipping them over so dean was underneath him. the birthday boy pulled away from the kiss, his mouth attacking deans neck. deans hands reached for castiels brown locks, tugging lightly as cas sucked on his skin.
a moan escaped deans mouth, causing cas to smirk against his skin.
"that was so pretty." cas whispered, bringing his lips back to deans. castiels hand made its way to deans neck, choking him into the kiss. the feeling of cas' hand around deans neck caused the older to let out a loud moan into castiels mouth.
cas pulled away, planting one last kiss on deans mouth before sitting back up.
"you're so fucking pretty dean." cas said, his hand on deans red cheek.
"th-thank you, cassie." dean responded, he was so flustered by what had just happened. cas smiled at him and stood up, holding his hand out for dean to grab.
"i've got my birthday party to attend to." cas stated as dean intertwined their fingers. they walked down the stairs and to the basement where everyone was.
"ahh, theres the birthday boy!" sam cheered as he saw cas walking down with dean. their hands departed, both of them walking in separate directions.
cas walked towards sam, gabe, meg and kevin, dean going towards the alcohol.
"you and dean were upstairs a long time." gabe said with a smirk, wiggling his eyebrows teasingly.
"yeah, dude, you're totally flustered and deans got some fresh hickeys." sam added, castiel blushed with a smile, the feeling of deans lips against his own still fresh.
"did you guys-" "no, we just made out a little." cas interrupted kevin before he could suggest that they had sex.
"just made out? holy shit cas, hes kind of sober and actually kiss you?" meg asked, surprised that dean actually made out with cas without denying his sexuality.
"i think i really fricken like him." cas said, looking over to dean who was laughing with michael.
"cas, has found a love, ouuu~" gabriel sang teasingly, excited for his brother.
"okay, gabe, go make out with sam." cas groaned, playfully pushing gabe away from him.
"go make out with dean."
