HAVEN'S EYES FLUTTERED OPEN, adjusting to the light streaming into the room. She turned her head and saw Finnick sitting next to her, watching the television.
"Morning sunshine." He smirked, glancing down at her. Haven yawned as she propped herself up to sit next to him. "Is Sawyer okay? What happened while I was asleep?" She questioned.
"Sawyer and Melody are both fine they haven't run into anyone. The Careers have picked off almost all of the tributes. It's just those four, the boy from seven, Melody and Sawyer left." Finnick replied, Haven raising her eyebrows.
Haven swung her legs over the side of the bed, hopping out of it. She walked out into the main area, Finnick following behind her. "She resurfaces!" Collin said with a chuckle. The blonde went and sat on the couch with the other mentors, and an Avox brought her a cup of coffee, Haven thanking her.
The screen panned out to show the entire arena, before Claudius Templesmith's voice sounded. "Attention tributes. Commencing at midday, there will be a feast at the Cornucopia. This will be no ordinary occasion, each of you needs something desperately, and we plan to be generous hosts."
"What are we going to send them?" Finnick asked. "Simple. A spear for Melody and a bow for Sawyer." Garrett replied.

SAWYER AND MELODY packed up all of their things and began heading towards the Cornucopia. "Alright, I'm going to run and grab the bags, and you guard me." Sawyer said to her. "Sounds good." Melody replied.
After walking for a while, the pair were finally in the tree line outside the Cornucopia. The other tributes were concealed as well, so the pair didn't know what direction they would come from. In front of the Cornucopia, a table had four bags, marked with four numbers: 1, 2, 4 and 7. District 4's bag was the largest, 7's the smallest.
A gong sounded, and Sawyer sprinted into the clearing, Melody behind him. The tribute from 7 came from the other direction, running towards the center. Sawyer and the boy from 7 reached the table at the same time. The two glanced at each other fearfully, before quickly swiping their bags and taking off in opposite directions.
Just as Sawyer disappeared into the tree line, he heard an ear piercing scream. He hid behind a tree next to Melody, peeking his head around. BOOM. The girl from one's body dropped to the ground, the boy from 7's axe dug deep into her stomach.
BOOM. Only a few seconds later, the boy from 7 laid dead next to the girl he had killed, as the girl from two pulled her machete out of his heart.
"Let's get out of here." Sawyer whispered, him and Melody taking off into the woods. After a while, the two stopped, sitting in the middle of a well concealed cluster of trees. Sawyer opened the bag, pulling out the spear and the bow and arrow.
Melody grabbed the spear, and Sawyer grabbed the bow and arrows at the same time. "Thank goodness. We would've been done for if we had to face the Careers with just knives."

Haven's stomach dropped watching the screen. She wasn't sure if the fact that Sawyer was going to face the Careers soon made her want to cry, scream, or throw up.
Sebastian walked over, placing a short glass filled with amber liquid in the blonde's hand. "Drink up. It'll ease the nerves." He pointed at the glass she was holding, before taking a long swig of his own.
"Really, Seb?" Mallory scolded playfully. Haven took a sip, her face scrunching, before quickly finishing off the whole thing. "See? She appreciates my methods." Sebastian said with a laugh.
The arena was quiet for a few minutes, almost peaceful as the sun slowly set, with yellow and pink hues covering the sky.
The peace didn't last long. In a circle along the edge of the arena, the ground erupted into flames, visible from every spot in the arena. The ring of fire began spreading quickly inwards, orange flames and smoke filling the dome.
"This is it. It's the end." Finnick said quietly, grabbing Haven's hand next to him. With her free hand, the blonde grabbed the bottle of whiskey from in front of her, taking a long drink.

"SHIT! WE HAVE TO GO." Sawyer screamed, the roaring fire drowning out the sound of his voice. Melody and Sawyer sprinted towards the Cornucopia, the fire approaching faster and faster.
The tree line in front of the Cornucopia was in view, the pair coughing from the smoke filling their lungs, slowing them down. The fire was slowly catching up to them. Melody screamed in pain as a shooting flame burned her leg as it passed by. Another large flame singed Sawyer's arm.
They stumbled out from the tree line, the licking flames leaving burns over their arms and legs. The Careers ran from the other direction still in the tree line, stumbling away from the flames. The boy from two tripped over a fallen branch, and the flames overtook him. BOOM.
The pair from four and the two remaining Careers ran towards each other, away from the danger of the flames, but towards the danger of their opponents. The boy from one tackled Melody to the ground, but she flipped him over, driving her spear into his stomach, twisting it around. Just as Melody went to stand, the boy used the last bit of strength left in his body to lift the arm he was holding his knife was in, and slit the girl's throat.
BOOM.The boy's cannon sounded, his body going limp. "MELODY!" Sawyer screamed, as the girl was choking on her own blood. He ran to kneel next to her, the life slowly draining from her eyes. "I'm sorry." He whispered. BOOM.
Sawyer looked up from his ally, his partner, his friend, and saw the girl from 2, Thalia standing a few yards away, swinging around her large sword.
"Sixteen. That's how many I've killed with this sword." She chuckled maniacally. "How about I make it seventeen." She said, stalking slowly towards him. Sawyer quickly loaded his bow, shooting an arrow into the girl's leg.
"Putting up a fight I see? You're going to regret that one." Thalia sneered, charging at him, Sawyer rapidly firing another arrow, this one hitting her in the shoulder, momentarily pausing her, before she ran at him again.
The girl shoved him backwards, the tip of her sword against his neck as he laid on the ground. Out of instinct, Sawyer reached his hands up, grasping them tightly around the girl's throat, her lips turning blue. The girl breathed frantically, swinging her sword at Sawyer, leaving a long, deep cut in his arm, causing him to let go of her throat.
Both of the tributes scrambled to their feet, readying their respective weapons. Within the same fraction of a second, Sawyer fired an arrow into Thalia's heart, and she threw her sword into the boy from four's chest.
BOOM.
BOOM.

HAVEN DROPPED THE GLASS she was holding, the cup shattering on the floor, before she let out a blood curdling scream. Finnick wrapped his arms around her, stroking her hair, continuing even after she stopped screaming.
"What happened? What does this mean?" Garrett said, genuinely confused. The other mentors looked at him blankly, all just as dumbfounded. ChlΓΆe's phone rang, and she answered instantly, walking out onto the balcony.
"I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry Haven." Finnick whispered, still holding her, as tears streamed down the girl's face. "He was so close." She choked out, shaking her head.
The rest of the victors sat in silence, trying to process what was happening. Finnick continued to whisper how sorry he was into the girl's ear, continuing to stroke her hair in an effort to comfort her.
ChlΓΆe rushed back into the room, hanging up the phone. "They took both Thalia and Sawyer straight to the hospital, since it was so quickly after their heart's stopped. They had the doctors try and resuscitate both of them. Thalia didn't make it, the arrow caused too much damage to her heart." ChlΓΆe spoke.
"They got a heart beat back from Sawyer. It's faint but it's there. The doctors are trying to fix his injuries now, they're quite severe." ChlΓΆe continued.
"But he's alive?" Haven asked.
"He's alive." ChlΓΆe replied, relief flooding through Haven.
