DEAR JACK,
How can I even begin to look for
A way to express what I'm feeling?
Now and again, I find myself
Daydreaming of a life only with you.
So now, of course, I wish it were true.

THE STAMPEDE MOTEL IN DODGE CITY WAS ONLY AMAZING TO DEAN WINCHESTER. It was as if he had turned into a young boy, everything around him amazed him, and he could not stop touching everything in sight. As he had rushed around in excitement, the other four had stared at him curiously. Castiel at one point had even questioned if annoying a cosmic entity to be released from the Empty had made it worth it. After seeing Dean's smile, he was certain it was all worth it.
Dean had already prepped plans for the evening— showers, steak for dinner, maybe a movie if there was enough time and it had to do with cowboys, then sleep. The case was something they wanted to focus on tomorrow since the drive had worn them out. While the rest decided on sleeping arrangements, Dean hopped into the shower first. Given the amount of people, there was no choice but to double up on beds.
There wasn't much fighting when Sam had given the suggestion of Jack and Rose sharing a bed. Each had tossed their bags down to claim the bed while exchanging smiles. It was a suggestion they would've made themselves even if Sam was only using it as a tactic to get under Dean's skin.
Both had climbed right into bed as they waited their turns for showers and decided on starting a movie for themselves. Since Dean was too busy in the shower, they had settled on a movie that was not in black and white or anywhere related to cowboys.
After a short conversation with Castiel, Sam had turned to see the two already settling in. Each had sat as far away from each other as they could, not intentionally, but Sam had decided on doing something intentionally. Once the shower had stopped from the other room, Sam hurried himself over to the bed, slightly pushing Rose towards the middle of the bed. "Go on, scoot over. Closer to Jack, come on."
It had only taken a short time and several mumbled complaints from Rose before Sam had forced his way into the bed and the three were all squished together.
Right on time, Dean had came walking out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a bright smile. "Steak dinners! Let's go!" Pulling the towel down from his head, his grin had faltered. In an instant, Sam had stood up, ready to take his own shower and leave the chaos he had created for others to deal with. However, once he had left, neither Jack or Rose had shifted back to their normal positions as this was the most comfortable they've been being closer to one another.
Coming up to the bed, Dean wagged his fingers back and forth at the two, "What the hell is this?"
Rose pointed her finger up right behind him, "You said we could watch a movie." Realizing that Dean would not be pleased at all with their choice of movie, she quickly attempted to save herself. "It's a cowboy movie."
Turning around to the tv, he whipped his head back over to them, "That's Harry Potter!"
Grabbing a cowboy hat off the bedside table, Rose pushed it down onto herself, "If we wear the hats, it's technically a cowboy movie."
"That's mine," Dean grumbled, ripping the hat off her head and dusting it off dramatically. "Opposite ends of the bed, both of you," he demanded. Whipping his head around the room, he spotted the only other person he could drag into the mess. "You know what? Cas, climb on in there. Right between them, come on."
"Dean, this is ridiculous," Cas grumbled, pushing his hand away from him. As far as he was concerned, Jack and Rose had looked rather comfortable and already Rose was resting her head on Jack for extra comfort. Castiel thought there was nothing to be worked up over.
"You know what? Fine. Let them cuddle. Let them be all gross. We're at least watching something decent."
Rolling her eyes, Rose gave in to Deans demands and flipped the tv to something to his liking. Getting a nod in approval, he sat on the end of the bed, complete focus on the tv, unaware that behind him, the two had never moved from their spots. Both had instead had inched their hands closer to one another until their fingers brushed up against each other. Despite the nerves they both had, they still managed to intertwine their fingers with one another and keep their smiles to themselves.

ROSE AND THE WINCHESTERS HAD BEEN FAST ASLEEP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Castiel being an angel had no reason for sleep and since Jack was only half angel, he didn't need much sleep as a normal human. This had been the exact moment that Jack had been waiting for. There was plenty he wanted to say to Castiel and many questions on top of that.
Discussing Kelly Kline had been on the top of Jack's list to talk of. Knowing more about his mother was something he knew would be best coming from Castiel. After all, he had spent the most time with her and was the first one to believe in her when she had wanted Jack in this world.
Even though he swore he could speak forever about her, after quite a bit of time, he had soon run out of things to say. Every question he had, had been answered and every thought had poured out of him. However, that did not mean that he had been out of topics to talk about.
A slight sting of nerves had taken over Jack as he looked to Castiel. "Can I ask you something?"
Castiel gave a nod, "Of course."
"How do you know when..." Jack paused as he shifted anxiously in his seat. He took a quick glance to the beds, waiting for any to give a sign that they had been keenly listening to the conversation. When none had given him that impression, he turned back to Cas, talking in a hushed tone. "When a girl likes you?"
In an instant, Cas had grown flustered at such a question. He had not been the best at detecting certain emotions. Often, he had taken a wild guess and hoped for the best. But there was only one girl that Jack had met that he could be talking about. And with Rose, he wasn't always the best, no matter how close they were. "If this is about Rose..."
"It is," Jack stated. His bluntness had Cas let out a small sigh. He had only hoped for him to tell a story of anyone. Possibly a girl he had seen on a case.
"I don't know," Cas said quietly, "She's not very easy to understand..."
"Exactly why I'm asking you. I can't ask Dean because he'll hurt me and Sam... he'd just tell me she likes me so if I tell her I feel the same... it'd make Dean mad, then he'd still hurt me."
"Dean is quite the grump," Castiel agreed. "Still, he is much better with women. How to talk to them and take them home..."
"Take then home? But we live together."
"I suppose you might be better at this than Dean if that's the case..." Castiel's voice trailed off, feeling helpless in such a conversation.
"I don't think so. Because she always tells me she's glad we're friends. Friends. I enjoyed the show but I'm sure she's not talking about that."
Clearing his throat, Castiel then inhaled deeply. "There was an instance that I may have had a... connection... with a woman."
"Did she tell you how she felt?"
"She told me plenty of times. Her name was Meg, she was a demon... Rose knew her well. I'd say they were friends. Meg, she'd call me her unicorn. I'm still uncertain what she had meant by that." Castiel paused as he gave a slight shrug. "Perhaps Rose is your unicorn. Maybe you'll have to wait and see what comes of it."
"So I just have to... wait?"
Castiel was still slightly uncertain himself. He was still fond of his memories with Meg and the look in Jack's eyes had been so hopeful. Despite telling him Dean had always been the best, Castiel bringing in his connection with Meg had been helpful to Jack. He had known what unicorns were as magical creatures— rare, but beautiful and mesmerizing— he enjoyed that connection to Rose even if he felt he had to wait to figure it all out.
