SO TIME WENT ON. After the kiss they shared Finn and Mary fell deeper in love with one another more than humanly possible.

With Mary it were as if her brain had been consumed overnight. It was as if all her previous interests had been deleted and replaced with the image of his face and the sound of his voice. She didn't blame her friends for being bored of hearing about him. She was bored of herself too but her brain would supply her with nothing else to think about.

For Finn normal thoughts barely formed in his mind before they were replaced with the melancholy longing and the fantasies of what could be if he were only brave enough to tell her he loved her. Food became like cardboard, chewy and laborious to eat. The sunshine had no meaning for him unless he could be with her. He daydreamed about every feature of her face, he recalled every way he had ever seen her wear her hair, he had logged all of her quirky mannerisms to his brain. He talked of nothing and no-one else to his brothers and now it seemed they had started to avoid him, could it be that they were bored of hearing it by now? Most likely.

"What is the first thing you notice when you look at other girls?" She asked in wonder as the grass of the field tickled her legs.

"That she isn't you." Finn replied gazing at the girl who's head rested on his lap.

"O quit being so sappy Finn!" She giggled as he laughed along with her. "Jesus" she mumbled the smile still on her face.

She sat up and ran her fingers through his hair as she admired him. He had gotten the car off Tommy for the morning because he promised he would treat Mary to a day out to the countryside. Hence the reason the were sitting in the middle of a field. Four hectares of spring grass. Ankle-deep, undulating, thick and tangled as a horse's mane.

"In all seriousness, no one comes close to you." He told her, causing her to smile and shake her head.

"So have you got a dress yet?" He wondered as he rested his back against a tree. The apple tree was stout to the shaggy grass, kept short so that the old lady who lived in the house beside the field could reach her fruit. Aside from the lichen on the north side it was in good health, leaves quickly passing from nascent green to the dark hue of summertime.

"Yes, I can't wait for you to see it. I hope you'll like it." She said almost worriedly.

"I'd like anything you wear. You'd look gorgeous, whatever the choice." He winked.

"For godsake stop it already... but thanks." She giggled slapping him on the chest.

"Alright I'll stop." He held his hands up in surrender.

"Not like it's gonna be any fun though is it?" He asked.

"Fuck-sake Finn stop being so depressing. It's a wedding! Never mind that it's your brothers wedding!" Mary smiled at the boy.

"Yeah I guess." He murmured looking out in the distance.

"Right c'mon it's almost lunch time and we told Polly we would be back early so we could eat with her." She stood and held out her hand for him to grab.

So he slipped his hand into hers, not that he really needed the help of course. And once he was standing he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"God Finn why are you so clingy today?" She shook her head with a smile adorning her features.

"I just...I love you." He finally said it, and the world seemed to stop.

"You never fail to amaze me. Everyday there is something new that makes me love you even more than the day before. Well, not yesterday. Yesterday you were pretty annoying." He smirked while she hit his chest.

"And I know I'm not the best, but I promise I will love you with all of my heart if you let me." He whispered as silence followed after his words.

"Promise me you will ask me to marry you one day?" She interrupted, there pair of them were stuck in a state of love and admiration.

"Only on one condition..." He said vaguely.

"What?" She laughed, biting her lip in anticipation.

"Promise me you will say yes." He looked at her awaiting her reaction.

She threw her arms around his neck clinging onto him a he lifted her and spun her around, laughing together before he gently placed her on the ground in front of him.

They were promises both of them intended on keeping and nothing in the world could ever make them break those promises.

Not even death itself.
